      i just placed my order. i added a center support leg cause I've read there is some sagging over time, some people added support to the very back of the counter top to keep it from bowing over time

    Great video! You might want to install a support leg underneath the middle of the the KARLBY worktop, because it may start bowing overtime. Like you mentioned, the KARLBY is meant to be a kitchen countertop and not a computer desktop. IKEA has one called the ADILS Leg.

    • @Brianqk

    • @XavierBaker

      Karlby is a benchtop so it actually uses wood, therefore doesnt need a leg. I dont have a leg in mine and it doesnt bend or anything.

    • @Alteronx
      @Alteronx ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@XavierBaker It's not fully solid wood, just a layer followed by particleboard as the main part. It's become pretty standard nowadays to have a middle leg in the back for support or even steel beams across the tops of the counters if you want that cleaner look to prevent the bowing

    • @Brianqk
      @Brianqk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't notice any sagging so far but if you are worried about that you can install one leg in the middle as a support. You can find one called ADILS in ikea and its a relatively cheap investment that i might do too in the future. For the tabletop sliding, consider that it weights quite a bit and i haven't had any problems with it sliding around. What i would reccomend is to buy a few Non slip rubber pads and have them between the Alex kommode and the Karlby Top. Here an example of what i mean www.amazon.co.uk/Non-Slip-Furniture-Pads-Protectors/dp/B07PDNYDX5/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?keywords=non+slip+rubber+pads&qid=1654275352&sr=8-3-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyWThWQ0U0S1FBNDBQJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMzA5MzYxM0lQNjJGNlhBS0tDOCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMjU2NzA2SThKVUhOMEk3MlhZJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

    Is the countertop part stable? That was always my concern about a desk like this.

    • @Brianqk
      @Brianqk  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is stable if you attach it with 3M tape or any other way. If it’s just laying on top, like I used to have it, then it kinda is stable but actually got annoying after a while.
