Some shocking events in the 1st episode, but it was mostly world building. Things are starting to heat up in ep 2!

Shaving the middle part of the head for a samurai.. was originally for practicality.. in a fuedal land , with so much fighting all the time.. wearing those heavy . Tight fitting helmets had no breathing room or ventilation. So they shaved their heads since they had to wear it so much. It eventually became obligatory as well as being status symbol for the warrior caste.
I ended up looking at some videos to get a better grasp of the culture and history for this time period, and one video in particular that went over the haircut. Wild stuff! Thanks for taking the time to comment, we appreciate it.
The heir is a little boy with long hair. Only male heirs (not heiresses) could ascend to the position of Taiko.
We were definitely confused at first but eventually figured out that was the male heir. We also didn't realize who the "spy" was until Episode 4 lol. Thanks for commenting!
