After a week and a half of searching, I have found the best and most detailed video on how to repair most of the fuel rail! Love the content and the way you explained everything! 100/10 video 🎉🎉
Doing this job right now on an '88, lots of good info! I found that if a guy doesn't want to disturb the driver side runners, it's just as easy to split the fuel rails in place. Two T25's and a little wiggling and they'll separate. This also helped me avoid kinking the fuel line on the backside which requires sliding the rail forward to disengage it, but would otherwise be stopped by the smog equipment on the passenger side front if left as a complete assembly.
Awesome video. I have replaced the heads on a ' 90 Coupe I use to own but didn't change the fuel injectors. I didn't record the process. I did the repair from memory and did label the vacuum lines and etc . When I removed the lower intake manifold , I replaced those ugly , half stripped star bolts , with stainless steel hex bolts and washers . I now have a ' 90 Convertible and want to rebuild the fuel rail and replace the fuel injectors and fuel pressure regulator. Thank you greatly for the tips and detailed video . Your video sums everything up . I'm looking forward to doing this repair . I was planning on using the Bosch 22lbs stage 2 injectors because my engine is stock. What is the difference between Bosch stage 2 and Bosch stage 3 injectors. Thanks again.
It's been a while since I did that job but I seem to recall I went the Bosch 3 solely on them having the same installed height as the original so I didn't need to do anything special with the fuel rail. This should be the ones I used fuelinjectorconnection.com/collections/gm-car-rebuilt-injectors/products/corvette-camaro-1986-1992-22-lb-bosch-3-injector-kit-with-gaskets-and-rail-o-rings
Great video. Repaired all my o rings on my fuel rail and my injectors/fuel pressure regulator.I get 47psi on my fuel pressure test but it slowly bleeds off and stays steady near 28psi. Found a slight leak on a fuel line. Hopefully that fixes the problem.
hi! i recently bought a 98 c4, the owner before me swapped It to carbs. I wanna swap it back to injection, he has all the parts necessary i just wanted to know how hard that would be for a beginner ish owner. thanks for the help, love the videos!
Thats really hard to say without knowing what he did and I'm assuming you mean 88 since 98 would make it a c5 and a completely different engine. Some people cut the wiring harness up when they do that which makes it very difficult to go back. I'm also wondering what he did for a fuel pump. Stock fuel pump is way too much psi for a carb. If all the wiring is there just put all the TPI stuff back on and put the right fuel pump in the tank. If everything is completely hacked up then remove the carb and replace it with a Holley Sniper or a similar TBI unit. I wouldnt call either option easy but based on the unknowns an aftermarket TBI is probably easier. Cost wise might be around the same. I'm sure there was a reason the TPI was removed so the used parts likely need to be gone through and injectors replaced etc. Lots of variables lol :)
Sorry I don't remember :(. I see the place I got them at is sold out and no longer lists the price. I'll see if I can find the receipt but it's not likely.
I probably ran out of carb cleaner to be honest lol. In person there really wasn't any real build up most discoloration. I may have mentioned this another comment but what I really missed doing was to clean the IAC valve while I was there.
Great video,...close ups at all the right places. I've got a question that is very important, as I'm about to do EXACTLY what your video shows. You mentioned that you went to Bosch III injectors, which are a nice upgrade (probably 4 hole and flow matched), but isn't the overall injector height .125" shorter? Did this cause you ANY issues (doesn't look like it did) with mounting holes realigning? Correct me if I'm wrong but so far, my research show that the O ring to O ring stayed the same. I'm looking forward to your answer. I"m doing this on an 87 5.7L TPI.
Thanks and I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I bought injectors that were specifically setup for the L98 from here fuelinjectorconnection.com/collections/l98-corvette-camaro-firebird/products/new-bosch-3-exact-fit-22lb-injectors They appear to be sold out at the moment but give them a call and they might be able to tell you when they will be in stock again :)
Thank you for taking the time to film the whole damn process, including: the tools needed for the job and reassembly. Very helpful.
You're very welcome! I hope your C4 is running better now!
I think this is the most complete video on injector install! Great job 👍!
Thanks 👍 I'm glad you enjoyed it!

That would’ve made my time so much easier on my 88 😂

Awesome! Thank you! I'm sure you'll have a great time working on your Vette. C4's are a ton of fun!
So how much fuel can I expect to leak out of the fuel rail when I remove the compression fittings?
Good job sir. About to do my 85. I already replaced my tank and filter.
And put your seatbelt on!! 😂
Lol yes sir! :)
Thank you bro
You made a great video. Thanks. A Rat eat my Fuel Injection wiring that what I'm replacing. Now I'm going replace Fuel Injectors.
Thanks for the kind words! You got this! :)

Just came across your channel and subscribed, nice looking Corvette!
Appreciate it!
Hey where did you find the O rings for the fuel rail? I have everything but the O rings?
Thanks
All the parts came from fuelinjectorconnection.com/
@@MidnightRoadGarage Hey thanks for the video! I subscribe and I watched this video about a dozen times! thanks again
Very helpful video. 👍
Well done!
Thank you :)
How the hell did you get that bottom bolt with the Valve covers still on????????
Probably the T40 with the universal. It's been a while but I think I showed the assortment of T40's required for that job. It ain't easy lol.
35 LB torque for the plenum?
I don't recall what I torqued them to but here is a link to the torque specs tpiparts.net/tpi_torque_specifications
How much were the bosch injectors?
Sorry I don't remember :(. I see the place I got them at is sold out and no longer lists the price. I'll see if I can find the receipt but it's not likely.
What grease did you use? I've done this twice now on my firebird and the injectors keep leaking on me
I don't recall exactly but it would have either been grease that came with the injectors or a silicone based grease.
Son got an 85, had to clean sludge in gas tank, fuel lines, new filter, now getting new injectors for it.
Good show, now I know what to look forward to replacing those injectors.
Thanks! Good luck with your project! :)
so are there no clips attaching the injectors to the rail with the Bosch 3?
Correct no clips and that's stated in the directions from the company I got mine from as well. Their website should be in the description. 😊
Any reason why you didn't clean out the black carbon I believe it is, inside the runners and plentum

I have an 89 cool video 📹.
Thanks!
Water gets in the tank because the drain line near the filler cap gets plugged with $hit.
Check your gas tank for rust.
Yeah thats my feeling as well. Another $350 or so.
