I could be grumpy that this doesn't have trans-yellow windscreens, etc, but thinking of an 8 year old getting this as their first Lego space set... I think they'd be really happy with it.
transblack is better, has more uses
I'm really happy that space is making a more substantial return this year. I'd have preferred a theme similar in scope to Galaxy Squad or Mars mission instead of a city subtheme but it's definitely a step in the right direction.
This looks like the kind of set children who had it will be reminiscing about 15 years from now. Very memorable and cool looking set.
The minifig design sells me so hard on this wave of space.
I liked the more grounded, sort of hypothetical contemporary space designs of the previous waves, but there’s something so fun about brightly coloured teams of astronauts.
It’s much more kid friendly and exciting.
This is the closest we're gotten to some classic LEGO space in a LONG time (not counting deliberate remakes), I might have to try to get my hands on some of these sets.
It looks intensely Mass Effect-like! Definitely a nice theme overall based on photos, and tons of interesting part colors!
I really like the design approach for the new line. That orange really pops and the little details like the control screens, power cells and space logo plates are spot-on. Would have preferred some amount of steering and/or suspension action for this particular model, though.
I just realized: Jang is the Bob Ross of Lego.
Blue are the drivers, green are the researchers and yellow are the muscle work team. I'm happy to see that Lego are expanding the modular system in these sets. Thanks for the review, Jang I feel the fair price would be around 60 euros.
Always fun to see the old classic letterboxes with a new use.
I loved the galaxy squad when I was little and am so tempted by this
Cool to see the space theme getting a huge push from Lego, and I like the overall aesthetic of the range, despite it looking derivative. Also, thanks as always for remaining independent and buying sets yourself instead of hyping free sets from Lego the way a lot of channels do.
I'm happy that Space is revisited again by Lego in City as well as Technic. I'd like to thank you Jang, for continuosly giving us your thoughts not just about sets, but also about their pricing and value. You're not afraid of speak up when you think that price is too high, and I believe that you constantly remain objective and fair in your judgements. Thank you for another video and a Happy New Year to you, and all your viewers!
These new Space sets are certainly one of the most desired theme that Lego has put out, especially for the older crowd who grew up with the Classic Space Lego, these don't have the same grey, blue and transparent yellow color scheme, but they are surely super cool! And the new astronauts minifigs are also very nice.
The vehicle - and the colours used - reminds me of the good old BigTrak 😌
Really nice looking set. The aliens are awesome for what they are. looking forward to seeing more of the minifig backpack parts out in the wild.
I love to see those old space wheel pieces, even if they're turned backwards here. I didn't realize LEGO still made those pieces.
It's cool there are different helmet and space suit designs and colors, presumably for different jobs and roles.
And of course it's great to see the old Space logo again.
I agree with you, it calls back to a lot of Lego space themes. The wheels feel like Mars Mission plus Rock Raiders
I said it before on your initial impressions video but I love how this new line of space theme is like a greatest hits of Lego space
Never thought we'd see the CMF space miner helmet mold ever used again
I just found this set at my local WalMart for $51 US (South Dakota). I was very happy to see it at that price. Now if I can find the space base and space station on substantial sale.
I am absolutely in love with the new Space sets! Thank you for reviewing this one!
Galaxy squad was peak unlicensed lego sci fi imo. It had practical vehicles with sick designs. The robots were the coolest minifigs ever. And the bug designs were cool af too.
That bipedal robot really reminds me of the multi-player characters ATLAS and P-Body from Portal 2!
I love that these new Space sets are concentrating more on exploration rather than fighting bad guys. I love Black Tron and other baddies, don't get me wrong, but I missed out on the old days of the 70's exploration era and I have a bit of romantic nostalgia when looking back on those sets, and I find that these sort of capture that spirit. I'm not big on the colors, but they aren't offensive. I wish they were their own Space Sub Theme instead of being forced onto City, but I'll take what I can get.
I like what I've seen so far of this new incarnation of Lego space
I wish they'd do is some sort of space terrain set with all the parts for making your own weird sci-fi planet scenes and playsets
The mention of crystals once again make me wish for an updated/reimagined Rock Raiders line.
Love how Lego can use some pieces that were originally intended for something like a fruit or animal but in this case, switch up the color, and you've got some alien plants.
A mixel joint in BLACK?! They have done the IMPOSSIBLE
Im so happy im not the only one who was thinking mass effect looking at it
I really like this one, thanks for your review JANG. Have a happy new year ✌🏼
Set reminds me of Axl Tower Carrier ("space"wheels/ openable mid-section / detachable cargo) and Jestro's Headquarters (crane on back) but then in actual Space, instead of Nexo Knights being called a Space theme by some.
Overall the vibe I get is like an Aquazone/Rock Raiders (especially the yellow miners) in space in play, without conflict factions or monsters (aliens found could be more similar to the native ocean life , ray and octopus found in Aquazone)
Thanks for all the uploads and things you do even at this time of day!
I expected this to be at 40 bucks at most, maybe 50. But 85? That's madness.
So far I've only found the smaller sets in the wild but I am loving this melding of a classic Space feel with modern building styles.
I can't wait to get this and pair it with the Ghost for a classic industrial-scifi Mass Effect / Alien vibe.
Excellent review, as always.
I would call this new darker orange Saturnated Orange™
Honestly I feel like the small sets are where they really knocked it out of the park with this theme. I'm a sucker for mechs, starfighters, and rovers with good working suspension, they jumped from those great budget models to the $80+ sets so harshly I think.
Wow I would've loved this as a kid, still might pick it up😅, great review as always!
Beard is looking good, glad to see videos on this channel again 🤝
I like the direction Lego went with this line. I also liked your Mass Effect comment, it registered as a Mako subconsciously.
I love the fact all the different colored uniforms have thier own unique helmet shape and back pack
That dark orange looks great.
Omg i fell in love in this set, the colors! the functions! This type of sets i adored and played to death 20 years prior, its new but have a sence of nostalgia and sense of childhood adventure to them. Not my kind of sets to buy theese days, but i would play for hours with it 😂
You're 100% correct about the Mass Effect influence. The first time I saw this set I immediately thought to myself ''that's the Mako!''
I love all of these new city space sets, this is the last one I need, and so far, not a single sticker(except 4 safety lines on the mech). Im in love ♥️.
this set looks awesome!
Very nice set! Really enjoying the look of the new space sets. This one really reminds me of vehicle you'd drive in mass effect 1. Also loving the display behind you. Those are some beautiful display sets.
Very cool that city is now branching out more into the futuristic space stuff
This looks like a great set. I just ordered it and can’t wait till it arrives. I would have liked more landscape to come along with it.
Awsome set! Cool verhicle, refreshing minis and even a nice sidebuild. Good job Lego. Thanks for the amazing video Jang. 😂
The only new Lego City space set that my local store had was the interstellar spaceship, and I just built it this morning! I am in love with it! I'm going to pick up a lot of the new Lego City space sets and make a cool little diorama with them.
I love that bit of alien terrain way too much. I almost wish they sold a set with _just_ a landscape like that as the build.
The different astronauts in the separate colors with differing roles in this theme really feel like a logical progression from Futuron. Futuron!!! A spiritual successor to Futuron in 2023! This set seems a little pricey but a couple of the other, smaller sets seem better priced. I'm definitely looking forward to this.
I see a potential Mako from Mass Effect like you said. Would be fun to make that a custom moc with this set.
City space has been awesome the last few years
These space sets are awesome. I hope to get em all this year
The 2024 City Space sets are awesome. So glad to see a modern comback to space.
I like how long and low it is.
Love these figures, they look so clean and nice, I'm probably gonna pick a few up for my own MOCs
I like all the returning CMF helmets with the Space cop helmet for the blue ones and the space miner for the orange ones. The green one makes me think of the Nexo Knights base helmet but I can’t compare until I get one in hand.
This is my favorite set from this wave. I can't wait to get one myself. Love the low number of stickers (I am a bit annoyed they couldn't be bothered to at least have the industrial lines be prints on the 2x1 and 3x1 plates). The set reminds me of the Big M-Tron Magnetizer a bit, and I just love the pods. I think I may like these ones for once (the empty window frame that is used with them I think makes them stable enough with a big enough opening to be functional - I fully approve of them). I do think they should make a bigger piece if they really want to keep this modularity alive for more sets that can go around this one and have a new system with bigger openings - and possibility to join with this existing modules.
Wow, that's really cool. I think this product came out great.
Such a nice design theve gone with for this recen wave of Space
This is a fantastic set!
Mass Effect MACO for sure.
Also making use of those Porsche fenders.
That's cool. I haven't done city since the forest robber/dog unit sets in like 2012? This is cool
I bought the Command Rover and Space Explorer Rover sets, very fresh design and I think this is a good reset from the licensed sets. Definitely a comeback to their roots, this is the type sets I grew up loving Lego.
Those new minifigs give me MAJOR Galaxy Squad vibes, in the best way.
Amazing set awesome review 👍
This looks very like some of the sets I had as a kid. I am particularly rembering the ice vehicle sets.
I picked up a couple of the City Space sets. This one I am looking forward in building. 👍
this really feels like a beefed up mass effect mako
and im here for it
If this is the future of Lego Space, we’ll at least it’s happening.
While I would love a return of classic space, this will have to do for now.
Omg mass effect! Nailed it!
These new space sets look like a smoothed edition of mars mission. I love it so much!!!!
Oh man that logo is like. A DEAD match for the Mars Mission logo, that's kind of wild.
Love the alien terrain section
Also wish we had a black crown with bar to make use of some marvel Venom heads for vilan alien's.
How exciting!
It's great to see space and alien planet themes.
The robot and vehicle look great.
It would be nice to have a return to the Classic Space theme from LEGO of 40 years ago with a few updates, but the colors were great then.
Oooooo loving the bigtrak vibes 👍
The hatch piece connects with more of this City Space themes, the last two themes, the Friends Mars base and even at least one Technic set.
I'm looking forward to all of these new space sets! I can already see modifications I will be making for better realistic function for the Minifig and on this particular set I will be adding steering to the front wheels. Very cool stuff!
Removing the crane , adding a second habitat/research module could make this vehicle cool as well, as currently the crane seems to be too small to have any major function here.
great video!
8:24 reminds me of the translator tool from the game Outer Wilds
This is super cool, some of my first sets were space force. Also that orange is way better
very cool, I'm thinking about getting it.
Reminds me of Mass Effect. Love the design and throwback to classic Lego
All this new creative looking space stuff for 2024 in city and technic is awesome! I wonder where this creativity has been?
Man, I see a lot of potential for this to be a star wars turbo tank moc in the near future. Lots of great pieces in this set
One thing I'd have liked to see on this is solar panels of some kind. The detachable batteries give the idea that this vehicle is supposed to be a bit of a mobile base where you'd presumably charge these batteries and then move them over to other machines. Solar panels would have helped with that idea. I'm also going to put some of those old 2-wide ladder pieces in the gap between the two storage thingies, give the crew a way of getting in.
While the rover does remind of *Mass Effect* , the alien fauna reminds me of *Half Life's Xen* !
It’s the OG Mass Effect Mako as seen through a Mars Mission filter. 😄
My one nitpick is I wish a vehicle that looks this rugged had at least some form of functional suspension. Absolutely love the vehicle outside of that though.
Apparently the orange space suits are for heavy duty workers, the green ones are repair people and the blue ones are the drivers. Also there is one leader for each color who has a darker suit then their comrades (dark orange, dark blue and dark green)!
This new wave of Space sets is just amazing. I really hope some 20 or 30 years from now there is a generation of scientists, engineers, and astronauts who were inspired by these sets.
I like the little robot. It's simple yet effective, and easy to build with common parts. I will try to build my own little robot n.n I also like the minifigures and their accesories (the camera, the drill, the tablet), these ones are clever!
cant believe they turned atlas from portal 2 into lego
