When yoy deal with old people, you learn that they are just grown up babies. Not kidding, you have to trick them into eating healthy, doing chores, cleaninf, etc.
It's especially poignant since a lot of people regress in maturity as they reach end of life, especially dementia patients ofc. It's amazing how much of the eventual adult's personality you can glean from a baby!
3:38 It is without exaggeration when I say I believe this is the most terrified we ever see Fern in the entire series. Fighting demons, mages, and monsters doesn't even come close to witnessing the horror of Frieren waking up early.
Frieren is not childish, she just doesn't need to pretend anymore. She is in touch with her body and her needs. She knows how to enjoy small things without losing sight of the big picture. She shows her vulnerable side - something that many people don't even dare to do. And she can enjoy the care of others. And in doing so, she shows them that their care is not pointless, but valuable to her.
Honestly I get Frieren always wanting to sleep in. Imagine if for your entire life you had to take 10 minute naps in order to get any amount of sleep, you'd probably want to sleep in as well.

Elves live a very long time, but mature very slowly. She has a millennium of knowledge and experience, but is not very old herself. Notice her interest in Fern's chest, but annoyance that she is still flat. This sounds like a 10 or 11 year old. But then, my favorite 15-year-old, a non-fictional girl, is still flat.
