I use way more paint to let the strokes flow into one another, so maybe this way it needs to be done more times in total. Have no idea. How it looks dried up might be a different story as well. As I see it we can't deny that it's been done really fast and looks precisely, which is great. But I'm not a professional painter (and very slow compared to this).

Ummmm.... no it Wasn't. Anyone who's actually done this can Clearly see he's painting over old paint. A wall that has been properly primed is going to be WHITE. HE'S Doing a Grey over a brown... anyone that has actually done this knows, either the Grey paint is an expensive paint primer... or he Will have to go over this again because that brown will bleed through the Grey. That's a Textured wall... so it WILL Bleed without proper coverage. In addition to... WHERE IS THE COVERAGE For the floors??? Babaaayyyy the way he's slinging that roller I Know it's paint splatter all over everything. I'm SURE little specs are flying because he's not being careful at all... this is a method I've used
      .. just not this careless.

@@glassceilingconstructionsh3573 That's bare sub-flooring, the paint splatter is fine because the flooring hasn't been installed yet. That said, this is probably being done on a flip property... they don't care that the paint will eventually bleed through, as long as it makes it through the short sale and closing dates.

Well believe what you want to but you saw just this dude paint a wall in less than a minute. Now consider that room has 4 walls and there is usually about 10 rooms , in a 2 story house . No lies here , no embellishments. My dad painted for 30+ years. He painted an entire inside of a 2 story house in 1 day. By himself. That isn’t with trimming the windows and doors and base boards. That is rolling , take it or leave it . Doesn’t make me any less relevant. But have a great day!

@@trishwilson7972 Ok so it's not the entire house then is it.
Dad rocks up at this two story house, 8am. Customer says, "painter, just paint the walls in a single matching colour with one coat, all the one colour in the same colour. I have all the paint ready to go, stirred up. Don't do the ceilings, don't do all the trim, doors and skirtings, hell don't even worry about cutting in. The house is completely empty and all the walls are clean." Painting is 70% prep. It took me four weeks to prep and paint my small three bedroom house. Dad either did no prep, did poor work or breathed in too many paint fumes over his career for that story to be believable or at a professional standard.

As a professional painter, don't do this, when you roll too quickly with a paint roller, paint splatters everywhere, it's usually tiny specks of paint that go everywhere, he doesn't roll it all the way at the bottom where he cut with a brush, so you're gonna see paint brush marks. Majority of the time, it's better to take your time, do it right so you won't have to waste more time trying to clean up

    • @rawdawgtv778
      @rawdawgtv778 3 ปีที่แล้ว +50

Well looks like he has blue painters tape on the baseboard and maybe he is using a special roller that eliminates most of the over spray. The paint could be a flat or eggshell finish, if so those two finishes tend to blend better and reduces brush marks. I been painting homes for 22 years and dude on the video is actually doing a decent job, we professionals have our tricks of the trade. What works for others may not work for you. I like the paint jobs where the house is empty and new flooring will be installed that way you can Rambo thru it and always have a wet rag just in case you spill paint or wipe paint off on areas that is not suppose to be painted.

Used to be a painter a few years ago and omg this is horrible. He's going to have light spots on the one half of it because he was dragging the paint over so far and you can hear him pressing harder to keep the paint dragging. The roller spinkles so much that it probably got on the ceiling a little and could possibly drop on the trim . And the sides of the roller can dig into the wall and leave scratches they'll have to putty, sand, and paint again. There's a difference between doing something with perfection and just moving fast

For those not experienced with painting it's important to note the prep work of taping off trim, filling and sanding holes and cutting in is by far the most time consuming aspect of painting.
Rolling that quickly will generate tons of tiny splatters, so you need to completely cover the light shades, ceiling and floor.
It is an extra wide thick roller and can hold a great deal of paint.
Personally I would have gone back over a feathered the edges with a lighter touch. A roller with that much paint will leave roller marks otherwise.
There is no shortcut to quality work.

When I was an apprentice years ago I was shown how to prepare a wall, load the brush carefully, dab against the bucket and apply evenly to the wall itself angling the paint brush into the corners and crevices and cross stroke the wall sections at a time. We didn't paint borders unless we were spraying. The result was a beautifully, even well bodied wall without blemishes or areas of patches. Rolling is a faster process but at what cost.

If there's a thick amount of paint on the wall all the way down then all you gotta do is just keep rolling into it and it will keep the paint going. Iv done it many times but you still have to put another coat or two.

This is what my dad called wetting the wall. You basically leave a wet reservoir for your roller to refresh itself a bit on the wall. It truly makes things run much smoother than any other method. Also, you want the diagonals so that different parts if the roller are refreshed each time it comes into the wet line.

    The real question personally:
Why would you want to speed paint in this way? It’s going to look like shit once it all dries.
From a non painter, they did it quick. But from a painter who knows a thing, this is rushed, even with a roller that big. Painting takes time to do, and you have to do it right, can’t just swipe the wall all in one roll without needing more paint.
