This is very helpful to me. I thank God there are people out there who have a heart to help others.
It would probably be beneficial to watch the whole series.
    God bless you. 🙂

And yes - watching the whole series will provide a more complete picture about beginning trombone technique.

I think this video would be ineffective in teaching the embouchure. It just simply doesn't say enough. All I really got was basically a raspberry with tight corners. No offense intended and certainly not saying this guy is a bad teacher, but this video would not really help a beginner.

This is terrible embouchure advice, don't do it.

Why? Jerome is a highly accomplished trombone performer and educator, so unless you can elaborate on why his embouchure lesson is terrible, I suggest others do not pay attention to this comment. You can view a short list of Jerome's experience here: lessonsinyourhome.net/teacher/jerome-smith/

@@practicingmusician What has Jerome's CV got to do with his knowledge of embouchure? With the exception of "firm corners," every single other piece of advice in this video will set a beginner back by years; Jerome's demonstration of a functioning embouchure is nothing more than a "raspberry," which is not how humans play a brass instrument. No mention of the massive role the lower lip plays when setting an embouchure, either.

@@meddlingamateur5899 Jerome is clearly qualified to teach trombone. If you're interested in submitting a video with your opinion about how embouchure should be taught, I will set you up with an Online Learning Project manager.

@@practicingmusician how do you expect someone to learn how to create an embochure by having firm corners

@@munchanitoThis video on embouchure is one in a series on making a sound. The next is articulation, then making a sound. They will play one after another, so feel free to watch the rest. If you press "Show more" in the description, you will see the 13 video playlist that this Embouchure lesson is in. If you're still having trouble, let us know.
