Few additional notes: - put metcon either after strength training or on separate days. - for strength work, use an intensity/weight that puts you within 2 reps of technical failure for the given reps. - for direct ab work, I recommend taking the last set to complete failure.
@KettlebellQuickies Hope you had a good Christmas Pat ! I often see you and Dan John recommend metabolic conditioning much less in volume and frequency compared to strength training. If you have a video where you discuss why you recommend conditioning between 15-30 minutes 1/2 times week for the general population can you please point me to it ? Thanks and hope alls well
As far as the second part of the triangle goes, should those exercises all be done on the same day? So, bench press, military press, lat pull down, squats, deadlifts? Seems like a lot.
Pat, I also use KB complexes for metcon training, but I take movements like presses close to failure. And once the weight feels light I add to the load. Is this a bit too much on a program like this?

I definitely don’t think it’s necessary to sets to failure with metcon, and I wouldn’t do it most times, but, occasionally, sure. Why not?
