I watched one of your friends' videos on this. I play where's John now. Saw you visiting with your guard friend. Totally love your commentary on your videos. ❤
You are, by far, my favorite. I love your commentaries and wit.
I wonder if they keep some of the newer horses back until the amount of tourists has lowered, so they can get accustomed to the box, traffic noise, and pesky handsy tourists?
Horse in texas sells for 100 thousands
That horse is so very beautiful, big and beautiful.
FYI my local police force have police welfare dogs.
They are taken in and around the stations, offices and also taken out to meet vulnerable members of the community, just to give unconditional support, kindness and warm furry, loving interaction with all that they meet. ❤
That's a wonderful idea. We don't have such dogs in America. We have drug-sniffing dogs, attack dogs and search and rescue. We're discouraged from touching them.
@@teresabillings8378
They also have those dogs in the U.K.
You will have to advocate for these dogs in America as well.
Good luck.
Here in the UK, we also have sniffers, biters (locally known as land sharks!) 🤣 and search and rescuers too.
Get in touch touch with your local police and see if they could get cute fur babies to do what they do here in the UK.
They are a massive welfare support to officers, staff and our lovely public 😊👍
I reckon if youre head butted by a horse of any size it would hurt🫣😖Lizzie x
@@teresabillings8378 I think there are a few places with them - drat my old brain. Can't drag it up now. Seems to me it was out west somewhere on one of the Cops type programs. I might be wrong though and maybe it is just a thought that it could be useful.
What a gorgeous handsome horse with a lovely, friendly nature. Nice to see Trooper Ellis back.
Wish we could see more of trooper Ellis😢but he is probably sick of being the glamour boy tries to avoid cameras❤❤
@@avrilyaxley2084 he is probably avoiding the "grab a granny brigade"....I don't blame him, they are a nuisance and an embarrassment. London City Walks has already commented that he will be back on ceremonial duties.
Oh my word that horse is so tall and looks quite young too......Absolutely stunning ❤Horsey magnificence indeed!
As his name begins with Q and the horses are named alphabetically by year , next intake of horses will be named beginning with Z , he'll be around 12 years old they are purchased at 3/4 years old .
I think the lady armed guard was as fascinated by Q10 as you were John. She barely took her eyes off him. She has impeccable taste. 🐎
I noticed her watching him too . Love at first sight 😍 can't blame her he is spectacular !
She keeps her eyes on everybody and everything. IMO she seems to be really constantly alert. They are all, usually, as per amazing training, I'm sure.
She always seems to get the large (so many
hands high) horses. Does she have the magic touch with them ? Bless her, may she always stay safe.
" Aaw, my head is itchy, I'll just rub it on this human". Said the giant horse.🇬🇧🥰💕🐎
😂😂😂
@@janicevanderbur3430 I love animals, and I often tend to see a kind of natural humour, with them. They make me smile. 🇬🇧😊🐎
Qten is a beauty. What a wonderful temperament on a very large horse. I throughly enjoyed this video. Thank you for all the entertaining positive content.
cute as 10 horses
Brings to mind a lot of large men i know, they intimidate you with their size but are real pussy cats in their temperament.
Hello John, 🥰💕 this is really a great video. Q 10 is one BEAUTIFUL horse, a shame he's not a Blues. It was really good to see one of my favorite guards , Trouper Ellis, is back. I am sure the horses are too.
I thank you John for all the hours of enjoyment you provide us with, it's the highlight of my day. God Bless you and your family. Keep up the great work!!!💫
I thought the Blues had the dark color cloak.
@@brendaaiken703the Corporal of horse told John it is a “lifeguard” horse not a blues & royals
One wonderful horse and one wonderful guard.
What is a “blues” horse?
I’m in love with this horse! He’s so well behaved and sweet with the crowd. I’m happy to see the crowd being respectful towards him and the guards.
What a beautiful majestic horse holds his head good & proud, nice to see my favourite trooper back 😊🤗
Magnificent horse and he/she knows it, another great video, I look forward to seeing and listening to your comments as l'm sure everyone else does Thanks 😀 x
The lady guard is amazing she stays really calm 😊❤️
And she is no nonsense from man nor beast,a great soldier.
She's Brilliant. A credit to her Service.
That big, fluffy horse is such a sweetheart. Awwwh. A great ambassador for the guards. 😉 As are you, kind Sir!
Just watched this, and remembered my Grandad telling me that all the farm horses were usually difficult to settle and work on a Monday, because they had the day off on a Sunday. A day off changed their routine, and they liked having a “lie in!”
The “fluffy things on the ears” are to keep the wind out of the horse’s ears. The things on the front feet are bell boots to protect the coronet band and the things on the legs are to protect the tendons.
Yes I was coming to say the same thing. We use all of these on our horses when we ride.
Horsey ear muffs!😄
What a stunning horse! I think he wanted petting (maybe head scratching!) Wild to see him pressing foreheads with tourists like that. What a personality. 💕
Also, I got chucked off a horse only slightly smaller, twice, when I was about ten years old. He was a beautiful white horse named “Smokin’ Henry” at Quantico, I think he was having a bad day. It’s hard to emergency dismount from that high up when you’re only about 5’ tall, so I landed pretty hard… both times. Not sure why he was given to me to ride when I was that small, but they did. It’s challenging to maintain control sometimes, that lady guard was brilliant.
totally agree i can see he wanted that
Poor baby. He’s so tall he’s never going to get his poor head scratched. Who can reach it?
That enormous horse has the most beautiful curve to its neck and its ears are always pricked as if its listening to all the comments. It seems placid, as if super friendly and doesn't need to be a nipper. It would go right over the bollards if it wanted to. Can't wait to know its name. Thanks for a lovely video.
What a beautiful horse! Love the way he holds his head! Look at those muscles. Thank you for all you do and talking whats going on! And finding about the hotses name!
How fantastic that horsemanship is to manage and settle that horse. Well done mam.
Lovely horse. "Too tall Jones!" (Grin) Wonderful today, as usual, John. Thanks for sharing so much of what you see and know. AND yes, I know he said Q-Ten. Take care!
I'm always sorry the guard has to hold that sword in the one hand while trying to control a nervous horse with just the other.
It's a remarkable fest of horsemanship that I could never tire of observing.
Many hours of training and practice goes into this, am sure.
@@LondonCityWalkstotally agreed, absolutely never get tired of any of this superbness 👌
The horse has a double bit which is very horrible on their mouths once someone starts pulling back on the reins. If they can’t control them with one hand then they aren’t good enough for the King’s Guard.
Most of the lifeguards here today were not even born when i began to visit. They are remarkable and the horses are still magnificent.
I'm a BHSI, and the talest horse I ever rode was an 18.2 hh Irish hunter , dapple grey called Dublin!! I always had help mounting!!!! He had quite the character and loved to lift me up by the back of my jodpurs. I'm 5.4!!!😅😅
These horses are so majestic.
Thank You Sir for all your great and interesting commentary ! From the state of Washington in the US and have learned so much in addition to the visual interests you highlight👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻‼️❣️
All the horses I've seen are absolutely amazing and the guards are wonderful.
The police horse had coronet boots to prevent the hind toe of the shoe striking the front coronet( just above the hoof). They wear ear-protectors to reduce the noise of the city. The white spot above the eye is probably an old minor injury, as abrasions that take off a bit of skin and hair always grow back white.
Oh my goodness. That horse is amazing. Seeing him on my screen just can’t be as awesome as in person. He’s ginormous!! Beautiful 😍 thank you for sharing!
Can you imagine trying to put a bridle on or plait the forelock of a horse that tall if they didn’t want to cooperate 😂
Horses aren’t sold by weight or inch😁. Age, ability, potential and level of training would be the factors. Love your videos as always💕
❤ I used to work in a riding school in SELondon and one of the livery horses (who worked in the school on Thursdays to offset his livery fees) was owned by a girl who was only about 5ft.1in tall, her horse -"Warrior" was _19_hh.🐴 The girl had to stand on a bench in order to reach the stirrup to mount up safely. Warrior was a lovely dark chestnut and very friendly and he seemed quite 'mountain-like' compared to every other horse in the yard !!
(The tallest horse I ever rode was a_17_hh palomino livery horse 🐴!) ❤
Even the police are in awe of this gorgeous huge horse and is smiling
Thank you so much for your time with the horses and the people that you have taped it helps me to watch. I love it.
He is a smoocher John. Handsome pair the horse and the guard. Lots of people out . . . it's not raining. My cousin retired from the NZ Navy, wrote to me. he had marched in a Remembrance Parade through London along with the entire ships company. When they were doing drill in the NZ Navy ship Otago, in the Atlantic, in the early 1960's. He loved your video: Kiwi PS: that sensational horse is loving the people.
oh my gosh, that second horse really is so, so stunning and huge xoxox wow....though they both are (all are gorgeous) awww and his lil tongue blep for a min was so cute lol he makes average height ppl look like kids, standing next to him xoxox i still can't get over how absolutely gorgeous he is xoxo thank you
He certainly has a very Majestic 'air' about him. Beautiful stance. Holds his head high. Magnificent horse indeed ❤🤗
Lovely horses and amazing guards
I’m so glad to see a lot of police presence to protect the horse and guard!! Well done!
Thank you for sharing. Those are magnificent horses. The Q10 as you called him, he just wants all the loves and attention.!!
What a magificent and stunning all black horse Q10 is. He sure has put a smile on everyone's dials. Did an extra step have to be added to allow the boxman to mount Q10 safely? Really nice to see Trooper E back. Thank you kia ora John.
I used to use the horse ear protectors when I would take my horse on a trail ride. Was especially helpful in wooded areas and when it was hot and humid
Wow!!!! The beautiful Horse and Guard look absolutely stunning. ❤ 🇬🇧 👍
Thank you so very much for a special video ❤ 🇬🇧 ❤
Hello John that horse looks about 19-20 hands another great video thank you for sharing
What a GORGEOUS Horse.🇬🇧🥰💕🐎
Absolutely majestically magnificent A great pleasure to see it.
This beautiful horse not only has a cute white dot over the left eye, there’s also a small elongated spot on the inside of the right leg. Magnificent! ❤
Love your videos John. Good to see trooper Ellis back
There is just something special about Trooper Ellis. Things are interesting when he is around.
What a legendary gentle giant.
What a magnificent horse! I adore huge horses, always enjoyed riding them. He is a sweet boy. Thanks for a great video. 🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧
Trooper Ellis
The big horse is beautiful and is so gentle the guard very nice too lovely video John 😊
Absolutely beautiful horses.
Oh my gosh! Q10 is a stunning horse! So beautiful ❤️
Oh you’re very naughty John, wishing that those good Jewish people would go for a coffee under the arches😂
"Starbucks Popup!"
Beautiful horses, thank you John for being so diligent and informed of the different horses names and height. 😊
I’m surprised it has a male guard on this large horse they usually have the lady guard on. It’s a beautiful horse wow 😮
Good day to all from South Ga! That huge horse is big but beautiful! So is the other one. Take care and be safe in your travels. 🤓🦋
What a spectacular horse - truly majestic. I’ve not seen him before - & you certainly couldn’t miss him!
Ear bonnets are used for a variety of reasons - to let the horse know it’s time to focus on the job and not get distracted, to prevent flies & insects (not likely this time of year ) or perhaps that police horse is particularly sensitive to noise.
Ear Bonnets. Love it! Honestly never seen nor heard of them until today.
@@LondonCityWalks I had one horse who was very skittish - till his ear bonnets went on, then he focused until they came off again then he went back to dancing.
Could also be used to help the wind from bothering the ears too.
@@LondonCityWalksyes they are very popular now. My daughter & I have them in all different colours to match their saddle pads! We have bright colours, floral ones for her mare. I loved the bright colours on my black horse “Midnight” the wonderful thing about black horses is they look great in any colour you put on them.
It definitely helps in the wind, muffles sound & stops fly’s annoying them. We also use fly vails in the summer that cover their eyes & ears to stop flys annoying them, especially horse flies who have a nasty bite
It must be the hardest thing for horses to learn to stand motionless. None of them enjoy the bit. Love how the big boy dangles his tongue!
Omg this horse is amazing, and so friendly too 🩷
The Goliath of the horses here.🇬🇧💕🐎
What a lovely horse Q Ten is, I love the way he gave a few tourists a loving head rub, what a beautiful gentle giant 🥰 I love the unique sounds that he makes too!
He seemed slightly more accepting of the bits in his mouth, as well!
It is sometimes painful watching the horses desperately fighting against the discomfort of the metal in their mouths.
A magnificent horsey indeed!
That is trooper Ellis
Lots of fun! Very exciting today. Love the giant horse Q10.😊
Great commentary as usual, I love the playful horse 🐴 💜🌸🏴
We used the ear guards when the horse didn’t like wind or bugs. Also they can be used to dampen the noise or to hold ear medicine in, lots of uses
Thank you for another wonderful video❤️
Guards need ladders to get onto the gigantic horse xxxx
Esse é o gigante mais lindo que já vi, todos são lindos, mais esse é demais . Obrigada pelo vídeo. Muito lindo!❤❤
Oh what a beauty…..the horse, not the trooper, tho they’re all gorgeous lol. I do love a big solid horse, which is why I’m partial to the Blues mounts who tend to be heftier that the LifeGuards. Good luck to any trooper that has to vault onto this big lad though, it’s hard enough to do on a 16 hand horse, this guy is at LEAST 17, 17.2 hh probably more. Just magnificent with that shiny jet black coat with no white at all other than the tiniest white snip above the eye. Also nice to see the size 13 military multi tool in action lol
Hello John,I always look forward to your videos. Thank you 🙏
1:38 That's used here in the USA to encourage the public to engage with police in a positive way.
You do a great job, made me sub & binge watch!
That "lion horse/Lorse,"lol is an asset & absolutely spectacular!! 🌟
I believe this horse is the largest I've seen. ❤
Horses generally don't like wind. Also horses are prey animals and often pick up on things humans can't see/hear. Ironically a few minutes after they kicked off a helicopter can be heard overhead so maybe the horses picked up on the noise of the rotary blades before we could hear anything? Btw one horse kicking off can sometimes cause another to do the same.
He’s beautiful ❤
Well that was another excellent video. I really appreciate your commentary.
How beautifully stunning the horse is from his head down to his hooves even they're immaculate .
He seems quite contented and not bothered ❤️👍🇬🇧
Thank you John for the time you take giving us videos ❤
What a beautiful horse ( the big one) the other one is lovely too ❤❤
What a beautiful horse omg
This awesome example of equine beauty clearly needs to go on your spreadsheet.
How IS your spreadsheet going? 🤣🤣👍
That horse (like Indigo and Pagan) is impossible to forget, spreadsheet or not! 😂
I'm just teasing! You said you were going to do a spreadsheet to ID the horses. For now mebbe you could list him as Dotz due to his marking over his left eye? Can't call him Dotty, as that's a girls name and this beauty is way too big to be a mare. 😊👍
Good evening John xxxx
Q 10 is so special! What a sweet horse ❤
It be huge to me I’m 5ft 2 or less with gravity xxxx
The king guards do have such beautiful horses!!! But this black one is by far the most majestic, thanks for all the info on it!
Wow 😮 huge! Beautiful and he knows it.
He's magnificent! A gentle giant, for sure.
Good afternoon its been so windy today
Just seen this video. Such a majestic horse. Breathtaking! Beautiful face and elegant neck. How could you not want to stand and admire him for hours.❤
The ear things just muffle the noise. The horse probably copes really well with everything else and it's worth using the little bit of help.
I'm totally in love with this massive gentle giant. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Gorgeous
What a magnificent horse! I adore huge horses, always enjoyed riding them.
That big gorgeous horse 🥰 a previous officers horse? They usually if possible ride solid black ones.
A lot of the people are bonkers ..horse guards attracts them like a magnet. 😂
That is the largest horse I have ever seen. He is actually a Life Guard Horse and his name is 'Q10' 🐴❤️
@@LondonCityWalksvery interesting. Thank you.
What an absolute beauty Q10 is ,such a softie with that policeman who I noticed hardly left that horses side, wonderful thank you ☺

It's wonderful to see King's guard Ellis. If that is him. He will be missed. And such a magnificent horse. Such a handsome and gentle horse. Well done!❤️❤️💂🐴
What a glorious animal ❤ thank you!
Trooper Ellis! My favorite! I wondered what happened to him. So is he no longer a Blues & Royals?
Still firmly a Blues. He's currently Stableman, but will be back on Ceremonial in due course. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
They don't muck out stables in their ceremonial kit lol. The troopers are responsible for the grooming, mucking out and feeding of the mounts. While at HorseGuard yard they're usually responsible for 2 or 3 horses and they bring several extra troopers to assist, at the Hyde Park Barracks they each have to manage more because they simply have more horses. They wear camo for day to day and ordinary duties like cleaning stables etc. They also have the Number 2 uniform or the khaki which is for formal but non ceremonial wear with the flat cap, and ofc the full ceremonial kit
