I’m from Australia and witnessed large male kangaroos battle on my front yard once! fortunately they didn’t damage anything because the yard is big and open. But their battles don’t last that long and not as intense as Moose.
I was wondering if either of those moose died or were still around messed up the next morning ? Looks like that one really took the others' antlers to his side.
I’m sure moose are very resilient but I don’t think anything could take puncture wounds at full force from a huge moose like that! That looked extremely painful, felt bad for the the thing
I’m pretty sure they are both okay. Moose antlers are a bit more blunt (but fricking huge) compared to other deer. They have a ton of muscle that absorbs that kind of impact. I’m gonna guess at worst they are super bruised and tired. And tbh that was not that much blood considering how big they are
moose usually won’t fight to the death but it does sometimes happen. it’s usually just about establishing dominance. the goal is to get the other moose to give up and leave.

Well, I think it's a fair trade. A little wood damage for a once in a lifetime experience. Sucks about the car but the other stuff is pretty easily fixed. What an experience to have two moose bulle fighting 5 ft away from you! So cool!
i know you're native to the area and are now more than familiar with the dangers of 1500lb animals fighting in enclosed spaces, but if something like this happens again as the season rolls around, please consider leaving your phone in a spot to record and backing away from the glass! the fence is one thing, but they easily could have ended up mostly inside your house with you on the business end of all that mass before you know what happened. if you don't mind me asking, any good news back from your insurance?
How scary! I mean, you guys probably PUT the fence there BECAUSE of the Wildlife! I imagine that Insurance Agents in Homer are used to all types of Wildlife damaging Homes & Cars in every way possible! You are all incredibly lucky that they didn't head for your Home's Windows!😳
question, how did the moose get in the yard to begin with? did they break the gate in, or are moose capable of jumping waaaay higher than one would think?
Those damages sucks! At the same time, I´m a bit concerned about those two brawlers. Well, those are big animals and can lose a lot of blood without major consequences...but still.

Holy cow! Wish we knew if both moose survived? That’s a lot of blood! Glad you’re okay, hope insurance did you right!
They survived the fight but both were later killed during hunting season. They are now sitting in a freezer awaiting the next moose taco night

Fair trade? Cool? Insurance deductible $1500+, and depending upon the insurance company discretion, vehicle could easily be totalled....
Assuming that the insurance will actually cover the damages, if not....can you say totally screwed! Easily $10K+ in damages!
