I've been struggling to decide between this and the Samsung NX1000, and have been leaning towards the NEX5R. I think you just sold me this camera. Thank you.
Everyone has favorite cameras for different reasons, this one is no exception. Obviously it's more than "...just a big lens with controls." The NEX-5R is now available body only, or w/ a variety of kit lens choices such as the 16-50mm power zoom kit lens which is half the length of the 18-55mm manual zoom kit lens, if lens length is really a deal-breaker for anyone. As it was @ it's U.S. introduction 10mo. ago, it's still the best performance & overall output winner @ it's price point. Period.
There's no doubt that the successor to the NEX-7 will be a great camera if it follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, & the other cameras in the NEX lineup. There simply are no other cameras @ = price points w/ as small of a form factor, are as feature-packed, & produce as good or better I.Q. in the 3 areas of 1) still I.Q. @ daylight ISO, 2) low light/high ISO, & 3) completely customizable, stellar quality video. A Sony accessory EVF is available from many sources for approx. $200 as well.
That's not up to the firmware, that's a hardware feature, or the Sensor has it or it doens't. NEX-7 doesn't have and won't have until a possible new version.
new to buying DSLR type camer...I recently bought a NEX 5N (didnt know it was actually last year's model) paid $450 with 18-55mm lens. do you think i should have bought the new one and spend more? wifi and apps are not big deal for me
Hello there, are you familiar with "photo SFX art" (google it)? On their website you can watch a good free video explaining the right way to take outstanding photos. It helped Joe to create photos which leave you with that jaw-dropping-effect any time you look at them. Hopefully it helps you as well.

$450 is a great deal. It's hard to argue the wifi and faster focusing are worth the $250 more for the 5R. You'll enjoy the 5N.
They give you differing focal lengths. Also, the the 16-50 is a power zoom lens, meaning that it is much smaller and lighter than the kit zoom lens.

Just wished Sony could understand that lens are as important - if not more sometimes - as camera bodies.
Nice video! thanks
By the way, I'm going to buy 5R or 6.
Can I ask your opinion?
Drooling over it...SLURRRPPP!!!!
What camera did you use to film this? It's pretty good!

Would have gotten the set with 1650 over the 1855 lens.
nice review! i'll definetely go with the nex 5r wit the lens kit :)
Nevermind, clearly I didn't listen to the video thoroughly and my question was already answered.
that depends on what lens you have and if it has low F stop (F1.8 etc.)
Great video! Thanks!
Could a wireless mic be used with this?
Why you bought the NEX-7 and the NEX-5R¿?
Which is better :) for filming, please do really!! :) thanks again!

Does your camera have a dead pixel? It looks like it on the screen
What if you take the kit lens off, will you still need to update the firmware?

Can Sony NEX-7 update the firmware so that it could have a Hybrid AF?
NICE AND INFORMATIVE! THANK YOU
which is better for videos this camera or REBEL t3i?
which is better for a beginning photographer this camera or t3i?
Can someone please explain the difference between the 1650 and 1855 lenses?
what's the difference between this and the 5RK?
Is this better than the 3n?
Yes, 1080p at 50 fps.
I am waiting for whatever follows the NEX-7. Then I will buy Sony's system. I don't like the price/performance of these current models.
can it record movies?
can nex 5n gets hybrid autofocus by updating firmware?
1st.... I love the camera so much....
No viewfinder? No way would I ever buy this camera. The form factor is terrible too. This isn't a camera; it is just a big lens with controls.
It is referring to the same thing, just another name for it.
Triluminos Display?
Sorry, high F stop
Máy quá đẹp, tính mua em này để tải hình lên face book!
Yes but just about...
nu bet tu ir zasinas
