The best part about the antipiracy measures EA did is that now if you manage to pirate the game, you will have a better gaming experience bc there is no EA app or online requirements to bother you! well done EA! Encouraging piracy with horrible antipiracy measures XD
seriously though! They somehow managed to be so greedy that in their greed, they caused themselves to lose potential customers 😂
And I heard from a friend that it's super easy to pirate. Like laughably easy. Like type in the sims 3 free download on google easy
Not only that, but funnily enough, where i live at least, if i first buy the game, then install a crack on my legal copy, i am not technically committing piracy.
the steam version i think doesn’t require the EA app. I think it depends on the patch version of sims 3. steam has 1.67 and EA app(origin) has 1.69. patch 1.69 requires internet connection. all purchases from origin since, i think? 2015 has patch 1.69
It does not, no. I actually repurchased it on Steam when it had a cheap sale precisely to get rid of the EA app.
I've been noticing comments about steam not requiring the EA app. That's definitely a good thing. I think if Sims 3 sales were up, EA would definitely force the EA app on people. It's probably an oversight on their part because sales for Sims 3 isn't as high as Sims 4. But I wouldn't put it past them that they'll eventually make Steam do 1.69
@@Tytar It's also because it is an old release. To be honest even if they did, you can just block updates for Sims 3...Which is exactly what I'd do.

Watching this video makes me glad i have a copy of the sims 3 on CD; with it i can avoid the ea app altogether and play offline without issue. Excellent work and dedication! I look forward to seeing how this plays out in the sims 4

I can agree with this. I have Sims 3 Deluxe which has it and Ambitions. I also have Generations on Disc as well.
A no CD crack is the moral choice when you already own the game on origin.

How does even Neat Tytar not reach the point cleaning doesn't become a higher priority for him?! I don't think Sims 4 'dish art' will be as ... *insert snooty Sims 2 voice* anywhere NEAR as sophisticated, and in any case I like to observe dish art while sitting DOWN, drinking my espresso, far away from any trash that blocks MY path to trash cans."

I love how you made all the Tytars elves. Also in regards to the EA app and the pop ups, I believe there is an option in the settings to disable it.
App still sucks though and Origin was just fine and let's you play offline. 😌
I had to. Elves are the only way! Buff elves too. 😆 And believe me, I toggled that setting in the EA app you're talking about, as well as toggling the offline mode setting. The popups continued anyway. 😆

The EA app is genuinely annoying😑 Origin wasn't nearly as bad about the whole playing offline thing.
Right?! And I hated Origin too! But it's way better than this crap! I cannot believe they think this is ok! That's EA for you though. Thanks for always supporting the channel Mariah. :)
Sadly, Origin now does even worse (those of us on Mac are still on Origin). But you can’t even open Origin while offline - you just get an error; and as soon as you login and put it in offline mode you can no longer launch games. If you open it, launch the game, then put it in offline mode, you get exactly what’s seen here: multiple error messages, increased lag, and an eventual crash.
I'm actually really surprised that in The Sims they autonomously call for pizza... that doesn't happen ever again in later games!
But still The Sims 3 has the best AI in my opinion - Sims really know how to take care of themselves on a basic level and will perform additional actions to work on their skills and hobbies. And getting promoted is very easy since you don't really need the required skills for the performance to go up, it will go up enough for promotion eventually.

Maybe when you do The Sims 4 version of this survival challenge, it'll be worth using the Gnomes feature on the lot so they can come in the night and fix anything that breaks. I don't think Sims autonomously fix things to this day without the mod.

Doesn’t that only work if the whole household’s asleep at midnight though? I doubt multiple sims left to their own devices will achieve that often…

Nice video for youtube to suddenly recommend! It really makes you makes you appreciate how good the autonomy of sims 3 is. Interested to see you try it on Sims 4.....supposedly those sims are supposed to be smarter, but I've seen how much they strugge with caring for themselves. And the popups are FAR worse. Nonstop.

@@Tytar I'd recommended not getting the Parenthood gamepack if you plan on adding a baby again, the kids will constantly make popups for the parents multiple times a day. You also get a ton while they're at school, or while the adults are at work.
You get popups on if your sim likes/hates a certain hobby, one if a sim wants to become best friends with yours, if your sim is having a "self discovery" moment, it's....very tedious.
I do believe there's a mod that helps out with dealing with them, though I don't remember the name. It just enables all cheats, including hidden ones. One of which just automatically chooses an option for all popups. (Though babies end up being named something like ' ).

This whole video is a great advertisement for pirating, lol. I recently redownloaded the Sims 3 with packs & store content and it's been running so smooth for me.

them drowning on land had me dying lmao, but im a little confused about the EA app thing. have the sims 3 on steam and i dont need internet at all to run and play the sims 3 and it doesnt require me to have the EA app. i dont even have the EA app downloaded bc i dont play the sims 4. does it only apply to people who are purchasing the game in 2023?
So it's funny you say that because I've gotten similar comments like this on this video. I believe (and I could be wrong) that people that bought it before a certain date or on certain platforms are immune to the EA app garbage. But I bought mine super recently and it forces me to open the EA app just to use it. It's super frustrating. It could also have to do with PC specs, though that is unlikely. I'm not sure why. Some others have the same problems I have though, I know that
@@Tytar I purchased it through Steam recently myself because EA App refuses to download certain expansions, but it *did* work through Steam. Can confirm I don't need the EA App to play through Steam.
Sims 4 however is another story, though I don't play that one.

… huh. I don’t remember downloading the EA app when I got the sims 3 on steam. I’ve been able to play online and offline. I don’t think I’m signed into an EA account so I couldn’t use the store content I got with some free points I had gotten? But like… that’s it.

14:16 oh no, unfortunately, autonomy is limited only to the use of items on the lot, probably calling services and independent repair of items is simply not provided for in the game, but I would like to find a mod for additional autonomy so that the sim still wants to do something himself, not only talk randomly, take care of the child, clean and fulfill needs.
Maybe at first you had to use nraas debug enabler to make one shower/bathtub, one kitchen sink, and one toilet unbreakable (it will just repeat the result where we can with sim with level 7 in mechanics make things either unbreakable or self-cleaning)
I do wonder if those things would help at all. I'm not too familiar with the Sims 3 modding scene so it's possible something like that exists!
I was tempted to get back into sims, was already considering getting the DLC I wanted through less, money costing means, but seeing the DRM with EA I might just get the whole game that same way.
Additionally it’s interesting how the game restricts what lots can or can’t do when active, as I’ve seen and played with multiple households and when active or not active. members of those households will get jobs, and for one household that had a horse will somehow obtain foals that were identical to the original horse but I was never sure if they adopted them or cloned them. They always had the ‘misses their mother’ mood debuff
And that’s why I play the sims 3 on steam

What about the sims 3 on steam? I don’t think you need to use EA. Been loving watching all of these videos. It’s so annoying we need to be connected to the internet to play an offline game.

I installed Sims 3 through steam and launch from there.
My discs are installed on an OLD laptop.
If Sims4 taught me anything; it's to stay away from EA and it's launcher. Also to stay away from Sims4.
Sims 1-3 are pretty cool.
I'm so glad I only have physical copies. No EA, no problems!
Just make sure to “patch” your game so that you don’t need the DVD in your drive to run it every time

What patch are you referring to?
@@MeganGarzaWellness I was referring to the NoCD “Patch” where you take a Modified EXE and paste it over to the original’s EXE to make it run without needing the DVD

The physical copies don't run without some sort of update if you use mods. I didn't want to download EA or Origin launcher so I found the super patch (EAs website is where you can find it) so the patch updates the game to 1.67 to make it compatible with mods without having to use their launchers.

This is why I deleted ea app and reinstalled everything via discs. I had these error issues the whole time and most of my purchased packs couldn't be installed for whatever reason. Never again ea app. Never again

I own Sims 2, 3 and 4 on origin, but because of the glitches and problems with the app, and forced updates, I now only play a pirated versions of the game offline, I hate the EA app

The worst part about this terrible method of DRM is that, originally, EA didn't even use always online DRM in Sims 3. Sure, it was a thing when the game came out, but Sims 3 didn't actually use it, they used a more traditional activation code system. It wasn't until the game released on other platforms that they decided to add Always Online DRM to the game. Though, even then, i'm not sure why you need that stupid fucking EA launcher at all. I don't have that issue.
It truly is an AWFUL DRM! Based on some other comments I've received since uploading this, apparently the Steam client is running 1.67 vs other platforms is 1.69. Personally, I think it's an oversight on EA's part because 1.69 requires that DRM junk. Steam sells 1.67. If EA catches wind of this they'll for sure patch it to 1.69. I think they're just selling so much Sims 4 they don't care to notice. The EA launcher is absolute trash. Origin was the same.

I do find it odd that you need the EA app to run the game no matter what platform, because I purchased sims 3 from Steam and haven’t ever needed to access the ea app to play it. I also use a shortcut that I copied out of the program files to boot up sims 3 to bypass the annoying launcher and I regularly disconnect from the internet to play sims 3 with no issue.
I've actually had a lot of people mention the steam version does not do this to them. But, a word of caution! EA is a wicked and greedy company. Right now steam offers 1.67 vs 1.69. 1.67 does not need the EA app. My theory is that this is an oversight by EA since all their sales volume is on Sims 4. I believe EA will force a 1.69 patch update on steam clients eventually once they realize they're "missing revenue" for the EA app. The app is horrible

the game is abandoneare now, so you cant get it officially. You can get it by searching online for the ROM file download. But scan it with antivirus software to stay safe. And if it ever is available for purchase, buy it!

I don’t have wifi and it grinds my last gear not being able to play sims games offline. EA offline never ever works. I have to start my hotspot to play an offline game, and that’s while hoping the fucked app even works. The EA/Sims business model is my mortal enemy. I refuse to patron them any further, be it Sims 4 or 5. If I could find any information on who works there I’d be sending emails, writing letters… it’s reprehensible and they’ve destroyed a franchise. It drives me crazy seeing big YT folks whine and whine about all the bugs then as soon as a new pack comes out it’s ‘omgomg!!!! Love this omg!!’ Anyways…
What you said is so painfully true. I get tired of content creators too not having a backbone. They're hungry for views so they act all excited about the new DLC and let EA's horrible decisions slide, only to then complain about it when it's common consensus. And as for the EA offline mode, it's not really offline. it's just something that says offline, but it still requires a connection. It's a lie and I can't believe EA actually thinks people think it's "offline"
EA App wanted me to reinstall everything I had purchased from The Sims 3 Store, so I used a community-made fix to go back to Origin.

By any chance did you not put a ladder in your pool? Sims 3 sims didn’t know how to get out without a ladder and so if you removed it they would just keep swimming until they passed out from exhaustion and then they’d drown 🤣
I don't recall exactly but if I remember right, I did add a ladder for the pool. I think they seriously glitched out!
they know how to get out of the pool without a ladder, it was a glitch that messed up their routing
using the steam version of ts3 circumvents needing to use the ea app i think
Though needing to get a whole new version of the game isn't ideal

Honestly, I think it aged better than all 4 games! On a Windows 11 PC I have the LEAST amount of performance issues than any of the other games!
