    Would you consider doing one of these videos on mormonism? As its not overly common in europe so would be very interesting to know more about. These type of my videos are my favourite from you. I learn something while enjoying the tingles. Thank you for your hard work ❤

    Hi! I grew up in the religion and was baptized at the age of 15. Jehovas witnesses dont get baptized like Catholics do where its usually babies or toddlers (at least this is my understanding, im not a Catholic myself). With JWs, you make that decision when you are “ready” which can be at any age. However, people are encouraged to get baptized very early on. I know of kids that were baptized as early as 9, which is pretty young. Once you are baptized that is when you are held accountable for your actions and can be excommunicated. If you are not baptized and you commit a “sin” you technically cannot be excommunicated because you havent made that vow with God and can’t technically be held accountable. I left the religion when i was 19. Like many ex-JWs, i left after i felt my family and i had been mistreated by the elders due to different “sins” we had committed. My parents were divorcing and i had gotten into trouble with the elders due to underage drinking. I wont go into my parents situation because that is their story to tell, but i can speak about mine. I was about 16 and i had 2 girl friends who were 17. During this time we were hanging out with a group of 3 fellow Jehovas witnesses who were all guys and over 21. They’d invite us to their house when their parents werent home and would buy us alcohol and we’d hang out. One of these guys eventually started feeling guilty i guess and he went to the elders of his congregation and confessed to what had been happening. We never were sexual with each other, we were just hanging out and having a good time. He was disfellowshipped due to this and so was 1 of the other guys. The 3rd was reprimanded im not sure what the exact wording would be in English because i went to a spanish speaking congregation, but to be reprimanded is a little less harsh than being disfellowshipped. Fellow members of the congregation can still speak to you but it has been announced to the congregation that you are reprimanded which lets people know they should be careful around you, you’re not good spiritual company. You basically get a slap on the wrist. Me and my 2 girlfriends were also reprimanded. People act really weird with you, its like you’re walking around wearing a scarlet letter. Your reputation really suffers. The elders also didnt want our parents to involve the authorities since what these guys had been doing wad illegal. They were all 21/22 buying alcohol for minors. JW’s dont want to bring negative attention to the religion. Even if it means silencing the victim(s). Ive now been out of the religion for 7 years and married a guy who is also an ex-JW. We have kids now and nobody in his family really talks to us because they are active Jehovas Witnesses and its looked down on to speak to people who are no longer active within the religion. It is what it is. I dont have any hatred towards the religion but ive learned im better off on my own. You dont need a religion in order to be a good person or have morals.
    Pretty much everything you said is spot on!

      Wow thank you for sharing your experience! Even though what you went through sounds like such an uncomfortable situation with the elders and getting reprimanded, I like how you said you don't have hatred towards the religion it's just not for you. I totally relate in my own way as well. Thanks so much

    28:00 In my religion which is Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints also known as Mormonism even though we're taught that it's wrong to speak out against the church's doctrine, we are encouraged to ask questions. If we don't understand something, we are encouraged to explain why it does not make sense to us.

    I went my JW cousin’s wedding and everyone there was JW and OVERLY / strangely nice 😆 one of my aunties (practically my second mum) has converted to JW and she feels so detached from us now, I feel like she’s trying her best to stay connected but her religion is always underlying :(

    • @erinfrazier1439

      I’m assuming what happens is that the members donate and then the churches aren’t taxed so they don’t rlly have to pay that

    • @caribbeanman3379
      @caribbeanman3379 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Donations from the members. In addition to individual members donating voluntarily if/when they choose, congregations are obligated to collectively "donate" a certain sum of money, monthly. Assemblies and conventions also have a system where individual attendees can voluntarily donate if/when they choose, but the convention committee is obligated to forward a certain sum of money to the organization based on the number of persons in attendance. So basically, to individual members it appears that the religion is run purely on voluntary contributions. But at the level of the congregation elders committee and the convention committees, the remittances they submit to the organization aren't very voluntary.
      They also do some real estate flipping. JWs are encouraged to get involved in volunteer work building and renovating Kingdom Halls and Assembly Halls. After a while the organization can sell these buildings and make a considerable profit given the low construction costs (free or mostly free volunteer labor and often donated or preferentially priced material). When they offer reconstruction help to members after a disaster, it's not uncommon for disaster victims to be guilted/pressured to "donate" their insurance payout to the organization. So even when they offer the members assistance after a disaster, they're looking to profit from it, or at least minimize the organization's own out of pocket expenses. They want the members to give, give, give to them. But they are very stingy when it comes to giving to the members.
      Some govts also give annual subsidies to charitable organizations and churches, recognized by the state. They get money this way too. Recently, Norway cut off their govt subsidy because they found the religion in violation of rights of members because of their practice of shunning former members.
