- Rescuers are scrambling to evacuate flooded communities after heavy rains inundated parts of Bangladesh and northeast India, killing at least 36 people and causing rivers on both sides of the border to reach extreme levels.
Nearly 4.5 million people have been affected by the flooding in Bangladesh, which has forced hundreds of homes under water, leaving residents stranded on rooftops, the country’s Disaster Management ministry said.
At least 20 people have died in the flooding and almost 200,000 people have been evacuated from flooded areas in Bangladesh.

We have never seen floods like this. It's not a natural calamity because it wasn't caused by rain or other natural disasters. It occured when IN opened the dumbur dam it hasn't opened in 40yrs. Not only is hoarding international water like this along with building this many dams illegal and unethical but because of this many rivers have shrunken both in Bangladesh and west Bengal. Because of this dam the gamti river has shrunken and was unable to carry such large quantities of water causing the flash floods in Bangladesh. They also gave us only a few hours of warning with no time to evacuate not that it would've helped the millions who have lost their homes . There needs to be some check and balances IN is not only inflicting a lot of harm to our people but they're most possibly creating a natural calamity if the Sikkim hillsides are any indication

This is not. There was no heavy rainfall that this high area of the country will be flooded. Flood in south would be normal but not in east. It was totally water coming from India without any prior notice.

At first they built water dam on international rivers which was accepted by Hasina who was a broker of India. They deprive us from water when we need and as a result our country faces drought. And when they faces problem they open the dam and overflows us. Almost every year we have to go through flood just because of India. What has the government done for the people in this terrible flood? So far no relief or any kind of help has gone to Noakhali, Laxmipur, Feni and Comilla from the government. Local people and some private organizations have sent some food items from different places. Government complete failure to deal with floods. I think they are incompetent. Advisors are busy deciding who to fire, who to retire, who to sue, vandalizing and burnings fectories etc. Some of the so-called coordinators and advisors are busy distributing the country's reserve money, isn't it? Crores of Tk have been raised from Dhaka University through public funding, Tk 1000 crores (10 billion) have been taken from various organizations by the Chief Advisor. Where is that money? We need food, drinking water, baby food, cloths right now. Thousands of people were washed away with the water and are still missing. But the news agencies cannot publish the truth because of fear of the government.
