One of the strangely saddest scenes in a zombie movie for me is in the Dawn of the Dead remake. The scene where the guy they have been talking to on the roof across from the mall gets attacked and they don't know if he is ok. Then he comes up on the roof to write on the sign. Then he holds it up and it is just smeared with blood and no words. It shouldn't hit me as hard as it does, but it gets me every time.
My favourite zombie movie moment is from Cockneys vs Zombies, where the two groups of zombies wearing football jerseys of rival teams start battering each other.
I was in that scene. It was great fun, the stunt team where awesome. And me and the other extras had a great day shooting. Local shops had quite the sight 😂😂
Probably my favourite zombie moment is from an episode of the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy where Billy bakes cursed brownies that causes the dead to rise. But it's literally EVERYTHING that is dead, including a moose that was hunted, a row of sausages (that got eaten by a zombie dog), and a zombie roast chicken that chases them with a grenade
The "Funeral Zombie" is an interesting one, as Savini revisited the concept in his own remake of Night of the Living Dead in 1990. One thing that would make someone's appearance as an escaped funeral corpse that wasn't done in 1978's Dawn was that funerary garb is often split at the back, especially shirts and jackets. I can't say whether it was budgetary issues or ignorance that lead to the missing of this little storytelling clue in Dawn, but 1990's Night had a zombie right at the beginning stumbling out of his split clothing, marking that zombie a one from a funeral.
reminds me of my favourite bits from 'world war Z' (the book not the movie) when describing the battle of Yonkers that so many of the zombies are partially/fully naked because their clothes just got ripped or torn as the zombie shambled around, were in medical gowns or just caught with their pants down. not only being a good bit of world building but also the effect it had on the soldiers seeing these naked corpses shambling towards them.
Another amazing bit of lore/logic in World War Z the book. Is when they're in the submersible tracking the underwater undead hordes prowling the worlds oceans. They somehow don't really decompose so the bodies are pretty spared albeit undead. But they're all naked due to the saltwater eating away at all of their clothing. Along with how weirdly none of the undead really decompose right. They decompose quite a bit, but something with their infection keeps some key parts going for extremely long times. Like how the initial charge up north to escape the zombie hordes worked pretty well since the zombies from. Problem is though the freezing only put the zombies on pause, and everyone flooded up there caused rampant starvation/cannibalism amongst the living survivors. Even now, in book time period, there are scouts who have to clear common paths dispatching zombies that unfreeze out of the cold. So as not to be bush biters or grass landmines.
I love fact fiend and wiki weekends. I’m glad it’s a separate channel though cause it makes it easier to scroll through each set of videos if I want to watch a particular type of conversation
tom savini is "sex macine" in from dusk till dawn. and collin mockery is the actor who was the 1st zombie you showed from shawn of the dead (hes a legendary improv actor)
Karl I think I started watching your content in 2017 maybe 18 l. I've always been a lover of random facts and knowledge that are useless. It was like I was watching a kindred spirit when I found your channel. I've worried for you guys when Karl disappeared and have enjoyed watching you grow. Please do not stop being the channel of good friends who enjoy talking about their different passions and interests.
After watching HarrisBBbombermans video on plagerism it gives me a new love for these guys. Karls rambles are always the best. I'm never really here for the facts, I'm here to hear Karl talk about the facts and whatever else he goes off on a tangent about
my favorite scene in a zombie movie is in zombieland when tallahassee locks down a plushie booth and lines up all his ammo clips and goes to town defending it
About the zombies learning: Day of the Dead (1985) gets into that a bit, with Bub. He's able to do a few things he "remembers", with some coaching. He's really the highlight of that movie. Also, pro tip: 28 Days Later isn't the sequel to the Sandra Bullock movie 28 Days. Lesson learned.
Greg Nicotero trained in special effects under Tom Savini before he went off to do his own thing. The half jaw zombie was "day of the dead" and was a cable controlled puppet.
Savini's so good because he was combat journalist in Vietnam. He says the camera was a shield between him and the carnage of war... he cane back and made "Dr. Tongue," a massive dummy/puppet!
My favorite zombie movie moment is in 28 weeks later, when David Carlyle and this lady (i forget who played her), are in this farm house, top floor and they are cornered. He jumps out the window to save himself.. leaving her for dead. Dark.. it's like damn dude that is heartless
A lot of this definitely can be applied to other things like Left 4 Dead. Not for the "special" infected like Tanks, Boomers, Smokers, etc., but the special common infected limited to certain levels, campaigns, etc. Things like the hazmat suit zombies are ex-CEDA people, the riot zombies were people trying to contain hordes, the mudmen are what happened to people living in the swamps and bayous, construction zombies, it's all things you'd just think are normal casual variants of zombies. And on the topic of The Walking Dead zombies being more decayed as the show goes on, something funny to point out is the logo of the show itself had gotten more decayed and dark and mossy green as the seasons went on.
Kaaaaaaaarl! I do it at least once a week these days. I find it hysterical to picture Andrew Lincoln calling out to Karl rather than Carl and imagine it often. It inspires joy. I love all the channels, never stop, y'all are the best 💙
The "Tongue Zombie" from Day Of The Dead you mentioned was nicknamed "Dr. Tongue" by Savini and his crew, and was actually just a 'bust", manipulated via puppetry and animatronics. The name is spot on, and is also believed to be a reference to the SCTV character of the same name, played by Jon Candy.
I would *dearly* love to see a Wiki Weekends episode on the old Phantasy Star games by Sega. Not the MMOs, the *old* ones on the Master System and the Genesis/Mega Drive. Or Shadowrun. Just, like... in general.
I don’t recall what title it was, but in a movie, a zombie in a suit is seen from the back, and the suit is cut open at the back like a hospital gown, with his bare ass popping in and out as he shuffles along. This was a zombie from a funeral because the corpse isn’t dressed in actual clothes, but basically an apron that resembles a suit since the body isn’t expected to be moved from the coffin.
Fun Fact About Dawn Of The Dead:Mr Rogers Loved This Movie & Told His Friend The Director Himself George Romero" That It Was A Load Of Fun To Watch❤, Fred Rogers A Fan Of Zombie Movies. Another Fun Fact:When He Was Director On The Neighborhood One Of The Boom Mic Operators Was A Pre Batman Michael Keaton.
As a former movie zombie (Cockneys vs Zombies) they now do a zombie school, and the better you do, the more prominent they'll make you. Along with the makeup department covering you in goo lol
Maybe I’m committing heresy here but I always preferred return of the living dead over dawn. I love both but return is such a favourite movie of mine and I know it’s a cult but I still feel it doesn’t get enough credit
There's a zombie in dawn of the dead that bothers me everytime i see him, in the truck scene where roger gets bit theres just a guy in a suit and they didn't even bother to put make up on him. So there are all these zombies and what looks like a lawyer just sorta hanging out
@@Fridge_Fiend he's the only zombie in the movie that looks like that and as karl said that there are others that look like they came back while in a funeral home or morgue.
@@robertramey9850well that zombie clearly came directly out of the coffin at the viewing that’s why he has the “suit” on which it’s just basically a apron that has the back open because well they aren’t gonna be moved from the coffin.

Karl talking about zombies always makes for a good video
The short movie "Zygote" by Oats Studios might be the creepiest representation ever of the "lots of people melds into one monster" trope.
Zombieland was also good at having different zombies depending on their location
In Land of the Dead, the zombies were getting smarter. Also, the humans get a really cool bus in that movie.
Brain dead/ Dead Alive is seriously dated now but the lawnmower scene and the priest scene are brilliant.

In romero‘s Movies everybody who dies becomes a zombie and the half jaw zombie was in day of the dead not land of the dead.

I miss the old style of this channel it just doesn't have the same vibe anymore
