this scene alone changes everything about Rictus, this solidified him as a villain and not a just a moron
I agree. in Fury Road his character is more like "Joe's behemoth berserker mentally stunted son" but this def shows he's evil
At best he thinks Furiosa is a doll to play with. At worst...yeah. You can do the math.
He was already a villain in Fury Road by virtue of being an accomplice, I don't think this was necessary
Are you saying a Desert Warlord who enslaves and then beds children under 10 is evil? In Britian thats hatespeech and will see you locked up for 2 years.
He always was a villian
I can’t believe Nathan Jones got hate messages for playing Rictus. People are incredibly stupid
Laura Bailey got death threats because of Abby in Last of Us Part 2.
@@harkaway9006 I hated Abby as character- but this doesn't mean i forgot Serana from "Skyrim" or Rayne from "Bloodrayne" ... why would an actress be responsible for dumb fucking ideas of writers?

@@heretyk_1337 I thought Abby was cool. Besides, Laura is hilarious. Watch Critical Role and you'll see.
@@harkaway9006that makes sense tho
If you read the Fury Road prequel comics (which to be fair I’m not sure are still considered canon or not), Rictus’ characterization here makes much more sense. He’s a dimwitted giant but he’s also a pretty big perv, he kept trying to force himself on Joe’s wives cause “wanted to play with the pretty birds” or something to that effect.
Immortan Joe put Furiosa as the wives bodyguard *specifically* to protect them from Rictus, and to ensure no other men in his retinue were tempted by them. It’s how she got acquainted with them.
I think they're still canon (it's just the 2015 game who has been decanonized) but some things changed, mostly about Scrotus
I didn’t notice him cutting the chastity belt in the theater, that adds an even more sinister vibe I didn’t get then
Yeah watched the film twice at the cinema, but didn't notice until now.
Didn't think he was going to go that far until then.
Some things never change and there still are people, who can't separate the actor from the played character.

This is a apocalyptic wasteland. No rules or morals. Anything goes.
Funny how scrotus looks at rictus like "dude shes literally like 8. At least wait till shes 16."
Rictus has the mind of a child, he was fascinated by the bells in her hair and wanted to play with them like a cat playing with a toy. The scene was not meant to be sexual.
@@BoopSnoot Yeah, when I first watched the scene I was actually scared that Rictus would just rip her apart thinking she was just like any other doll lmao.
This what i didn't get.. Joe needed some one to control Rictus.... Why not Scrotus who seems pretty dominant over his weak minded brother.
@@easygrin1127 in comic book that chronologically takes place beetween Furiosa and Fury Road Joe noticed the problem with Rictus and ordered Furiosa to keep an eye on wives in such case.
@@BoopSnootWhy did he cut the chastity belt then?
The actor who plays Rictus got sent nasty messages because of this scene. Separate actors from characters.
Yeah this is a movie that portrays the worst of humanity, and I think he did a great job playing this villain. Separate actor from villain everyone
Miller could have made this scene way creepier. And look at Mad Max 1 and 2 if you didn’t notice it’s not about humans surviving in harmony it’s meant to be graphic and cruel.
Not only that Rictus is such a simpleton he may have genuinely just wanted to play with her hair. Ppl jumping to nasty conclusions
For this scene? This ACTUAL scene? Has it been edited and something removed?
Yeah like michael jackson?
NGL, that was pretty clever using her hair as a decoy so she could hoof it out of there XD
I love how Scrotus is just like, "Yeah, not only do I not believe you, but you are a terrible liar, Rictus"
That's what makes it even funnier he knows Rictus too well and the fact rictus is also a moron it makes it all the more obvious that he was up to something 😂
Firstly, Nathan didn't deserve any of the shit he got for this scene. He's an actor portray a character. The character IS an arguably horrible person, but Nathan Jones himself is not. People need to understand that difference. He seems like an absolute lad in many interviews.
Secondly, I'm not entirely sure what to make of this scene. He did cut off her chastity belt yes, but at the same time... Rictus has the mind of a child. He's a kid in a huge body. I don't know that he's interested in Furiosa for sexual reasons here more than he's fascinated with her like a new toy. At the same time however...in the pre Fury Road comic, he had to be restrained when the Organic Mechanic was examining one of the wives because the urges he does have became uncontrollable. It's his unpredictability and impulsive nature, combined with his enormous size and childlike mind that make him a pretty disturbing character.
Incredible how dumb some people are, he was portraying a character.
"I AM... SCROTUS!"...I died in the theater

When Charlize played Furiosa in “Fury Road,” the backstory she was working with was that Furiosa was indeed one of Immortan’s brides, but that she was expelled for being infertile. This means, sadly, that she was r*ped for years before she was thrown out and worked her way back into the Citadel as a Warboy.
Having something as backstory is a lot different than actually showing it, however, and as we see here, when it came time to make “Furiosa,” George Miller and Co. realized there was just no way they could make the movie that way; it’s just too dark and upsetting. So this scene with Rictus is the (still disturbing) compromise.
so you mean they couldn't even stick to their own lore and wonder why this failed?.....XD
@@brokenman58 Internal notes don't equate to "lore" until the creators make it so. Anyway, don't pretend like the Mad Max franchise has been a bastion of continuity up until this point, lol.
@@jimfazio85 Love the "excuse"
@@brokenman58 what exactly am I excusing?
It's a movie/multimedia series about post-apocalyptic Australian land pirates. I'm not taking it seriously.
She could be "infertile" simply by hiding her period.
I was assuming (or hoping) that Rictus simply had interest in the girls hair (being completely bald himself) or was just interested in her because she is a child. Don't see many of them in the Citadel. Would be fitting of the simple minded Rictus having a friend he can play silly games with. Which the other adults would laugh at him if they found out like the puppets he has in his room.
When he removed the chastity belt I was like:

There was a scene in 2015 comic when he wanted to "play" with one of wifes but Joe protested.
he does, he was fascinated with the bells in her hair and wanted to play with it, like a cat fascinated by a feather toy.
Children do this kinda stuff... Who knows what happend to Rictus. Joe doesn't exactly seem like a uncle Phil kinda parent..
@@BoopSnootI thought that too on first watch but I missed the scene at 3:00 where he cuts off her chastity belt
If rictus just wanted to play with the bells in furiosas hair, why did they remove the chasity belt?
The annoying part is that the actor of Rictus got hate from this scene. I get the mature and dark subject matter but in the day he is just an actor doing his job.
It's a story set place in post apocalyptic world ,bad things happen .People are such idiots .It's actors playing roles WTF.😅

@@slandebande Exactly my point, no one understands why ACTORS are being shamed for ACTING.

Also as noted, as soon as she left the birth, Scrotus IMMEDIATLY looked over at Rictus with a disdainful and knowing look - Bro not again.
I’m tired of people not being able to separate characters from actors, rictus is only a character, Nathan jones does not deserve the hate
"Dear Die Hard, You rock. Especially when that guy was on the roof. -Homer Simpson- P.S. Do you know Mad Max?"
YOU are tired? I'd say those actors receiving awful messages are tired, you at best can sympathize with them and get annoyed with those kind of ''fans''.

What do you even know about dog eat dog world...
I can imagine Bobby Lee in this scene "Everyday for a summer".
And THIS is the scene for which Nathan received hate messages.
So Scrotus was the somewhat rational one in the group? Shame he died in the video game

@@easygrin1127 no, it is canon now.
@@easygrin1127 Nah he's dead bro. The game is canon, though details are probably different. Not gonna lie id like to see max vs a more rational scrotus.
There really isn't a "canon" to the Mad Max stories and that's intentional. They're supposed to be like old legends that are simply told better by having the same characters be the heroes.
@@Calekoflight the first 3 kinda followed up. Fury Road is a reboot... Very well done Reboot

"Dear Die Hard, You rock. Especially when that guy was on the roof. -Homer Simpson- P.S. Do you know Mad Max?"
It's a shame we never find out how Joe reacted to the disappearance of his newest wife, or if he ever figured out when he met the adult Furiosa years later that she was the same child.
Yeah seems like a pretty big oversight tbh. Surely a full-life child missing doesn’t go unnoticed
I mean, that does put Furiosa’s last line to him in Fury Road into a whole new context.
Bunch of blind people can't even accept the difference between of fiction and reality over this scene, the actor who play rictus didn't deserve the hate.
Anyone else think Scrotus looks just like How id imagine Butthead from Beavis and Butthead in this universe. Uhhh My names Scrotus. Heheheheeheh he said rectus.. hehehehe heheh heheheh
I know there might be an easy sexual subtext here, but the way I see Rictus’ behaviors, I think he’s rather fascinated by the child than attracted by her. He just wants to analyze her a bit closer… well that actually sounds quite inappropriate after all, but you get the point : he’s acting more like a fascinated child than a pervert.
The way Scrotus looks at him, you know he has past form.
Cutting the chastity belt made it obviously sexual.
I thought Rictus was just trying to play a demented version of tea-party with dolls that happen to be people because he's such a simple-minded brute. Honestly I would've preferred that scenario rather than this apparently official version because now Rictus is not fun anymore and it's all anyone ever talks about now about Rictus. Just put the scene of cutting the chastity belt on the cutting floor and he remains a simple-minded brute instead of a damn predator
@@gentblueTrue though you can clearly see hes clearly playing with the bells like a curious child would
Then again, whose to say it cant be both some weird pervy stuff AND a childlike curiosity? He is, after all, a grown man with an underdeveloped mind. A literal man-child raised in an apocalypse by a psycho warlord. Not exactly the recipe for a decent, well-adjusted person :P
That's the most predator excuse i ever heard ..😅
With his child mind, Rictus saw Furiosa like an interest doll to play, literally: She is tiny, pale and has bells on her hair so he was intrigued. He liked dolls, has many. Maybe he wanted this new doll look like the others and that's why he cut her chain belt (obviously was the plot of how she could get ride of it). And if you gonna mention the comic, his physical reaction with Angarad was detonated bc he saw her women body in a s3xu4ll examination. So no, here he isn't seeing her in any other way than an interesting thing.
He can be (or) is an horrible man, just in this scene that wasn't the case
Thats what I thought the first time, that he was mostly just trying to play a demented version of tea-party with dolls that happen to be people because he's such a simple-minded brute. I would've preferred that scenario because now Rictus is not fun anymore. They should've just cut out the chastity belt scene on the cutting floor.
@@vit968 lol, wow. Never knew people could be so fragile. IT'S A MOVIE 😅
Its cannon hes planning on bad things as he does it many times in the comics
Are you kidding me?!?
The sole reason why Furiosa cut her hair was because she felt Rictus’ creepy rapey eyes on her in the prior scene, and did you not see the bit where Rictus removes her chastity belt. He was going to violate her to his heart’s content and Furiosa knew this.
1:22 this scene hit hard when I watched this in theather
I feel bad for the women who got locked up in the vault including furiosa at least immortal Joe, Rictus, Pig Eater, and Bullet Farmer dies in Fury Road (Mad Max 4)
Whole time I was expecting to see scrotus rig from the mad max game but I suppose the game is years later after all the history of the world of wasteland
Why did joe want a healthy son when scrotus is right there, sure he looks like frankenstein but he'd be a better replacement than the other 2
Scrotus in somewhat insane and unstable , always going for blood lust instead of strategy
Scrotus is super cool, and considering the wasteland I know he would’ve hunted the raiders like the buzzards to extinction, but cmon. The guy’s a psycho. He would definitely not be a genius warlord like his dad, and considering how fragile the world is…
He would’ve turned the citadel into another Dementus ruled Gastown, only on a grander scale.
Because Scrotus is psychotic and unhinged. He would make choices based on impulse rather than strategy. He's also a "Half-life", meaning that he isn't going to live as long as a healthy person would (Full-life). Joe wants somebody who's going to be able to stick around for a long time and be able to run the Citadel efficiently by thinking things through and being a charismatic leader.
DAYUM she tactical af
He literally cut off her chasity belt . Its exactly what it looks like. I worked for corrections for a few years. I was assigned to an apartment development with only special needs tenants. They had constant supervision. I was the hvac tech, that was one of my properties. I got to be friends to some of them just being around them daily. Later one of the RAs watching them told me they were all living there as means of their parole. They all had sexual related offenses. It was an apartment community of pedophiles with learning disabilities. They were like Rictus. Like fully grown children or teenagers. They would have violent outbursts, get attached to the female RAs and social workers etc. I quit working there shortly after for a number of reasons.
People need to know the difference between acting & the real deal
"Dear Die Hard, You rock. Especially when that guy was on the roof. -Homer Simpson- P.S. Do you know Mad Max?"
Yeah, they do. It bothers me that people aren't able to separate actors from their characters and by extension, fiction from reality.
This is the only time I had an issue with the director. He didn't have to make her attire so revealing in order to address the concept, it was unnecessary to make her dress so see through and the actor ended up getting the short end of the stick for getting all of those misdirected messages.
With all the clips, I’ve seen the movie now I don’t have to rent it
Poor kid
I love how Scrotus had a look of boredom watching the wife giving birth 😂
He just wants a baby brother!
Despite Rictus clearly being the stronger of the two brothers, it seems like Scrotus has more power. Would make sense if you consider the video game semi-canon.

Watch this scene again and very carefully analyze it.
Apparently it is not about sexual desire on Rictus's part, apparently he is intrigued and fascinated by something he sees in the girl, Rictus is like a spoiled child fascinated with a new toy, that is what this scene conveyed to me.
He cut her chastity belt and he's abused other brides before, which is why older Furiosa was told to protect them my Joe before she helped them escape.
Почитайте комиксы по фильму, там все персонажи настоящие монстры.
"FBI, its this man here"
He cut her chastity belt. Stop it.
No, it definitely is. CellStudios55 said it best. He cut her chastity belt and has abused the other brides before, which was why the older Furiosa was tasked with being their bodyguard before helping them escape. The implications are there. You're only seeing what you want to see. Your mind is telling you that it's not about sexual desire because you aren't able to accept that. For you, it's crossing a line and ruins the Rictus character. You can't get behind him knowing he's a child predator.

In the comic, it mention that Rictus don't know where babies come from. He think babies and dolls are the same thing, that why he collected them. His brother tried to teach him that dolls and babies are different, as well that babies come from womens but his brother admitted he think Rictus still didn't think he get it and probably gotten a completely wrong idea.
I'm guessing that they needed a excused for Furiosa to be able to get out of the chastity belt and they didn't have enough time to have her find her own way to do it, the movie was cramming alot of stuff in and didn't some scene enought time to breath.
How u avoid copyrights?
You know this is probably Nathan Jones biggest film role after Flying jJatt
I think it IS his biggest film role, period. Playing Rictus in the Mad Max movies will probably be what he's most known as far as his film acting career goes.
I wish this scene had not been made, Really took the charm off the Rictus character.
At least not the chastity belt scene.
There was never any charm to Rictus. Not to me, at least. He was nothing more than a dimwitted brute in Fury Road. It's not like his character had any depth to him. If anything, this movie tried to give him a little bit of that.
Is it a different actor for Joe now?
Yeah Hugh Keays-Byrne the actor for Joe in Fury Road and the villian Toe-Cutter in the first Mad Max film died in 2020
The original actor passed away between films. Quite a few actors did. They hired Lachy Hulme (Sparx in The Matrix Reloaded & Revolutions) to play Immortan. Originally they weren't gonna show him at all, but I'm glad they did. New guy is great and I almost can't tell it's a new actor.
@@JakeTS1992 It was obviously a different actor to me but I agree that studios shouldn't be shy of recasting roles when actors die. It's ridiculous and panders to folk who can't tell the difference between role and actor!
Is the same actor who plays Dementus' 2nd in command, the guy with the beard and missing his right eye.
Which makes the negotiation scene funnier since I'm guessing he filmed one part of the scene with Joe's makeup and the other as the henchman.
Nah, same guy. They simply reanimated his corpse, obviously.

I don't take issue with the scene or anything, but I mean...come on...lol
This stuff happens in real life. Think about the kids of illegal immigrants. Their parents sacrificed everything maybe even themselves in hopes their kid would make it to another country. The kid instead gets taken by some sick people like this. After learning about sound of freedom and how bad our system is for tackling child trafficking. Watching this makes me sad and angry knowing how this kind of thing still happens.
Idk he really seemed more interested in the bells in her hair and her tattoo rather than anything else. Its great we to see the citadel in this movie but they made a huge mistake not having mad in his own franchise. Especially after the last fifteen years or so of girlboss trash. Bad timing.
people invent things in their mind and tell other people about it.
It was sad seeing that the actor who played Rictus was/has been harrased nonstop about this scene even going as far as sending him and his family death threats. I lean towards his character being all brawn and no brains prior in fury road and in this situation he seemed to be fascinated by her innocence and purity as he'd probably never seen an unblemished, healthy adolescent girl his entire life hence, his fixation with her hair (and the chimes) as well as her hands/tattoo. He knew he wasn't supposed to be alone with her due to it being Joe's harem of wives and that's why he grabbed her in the night and lied to Scrotus so those two things strike me as an emotionally/mentality stunted behavior perhaps ceasing development cognitively when he was her age at the time. The one thing that might have thrown people off or rubbed them the wrong way was him cutting the chains off of her but I haven't seen the movie and don't know if it was meant to signify a chastity belt? Either way, it's unfortunate people make assumptions based off a solid performance due to the immersive characters role he's talented in portraying.
