I always thought that this scene has more impact than what is perceived at first sight. Riddick wasn't just there to kill a necromnger, he was there to avenge the death of one of the few people he called a friend. RIP Imam.
Yep. The only thing he does through the whole movie is trying to save the only people he cares about and who are also the only people who care about him. The fact he saved the galaxy and became the Lord Marshal of the Necros is just a side effect of this. :) Kinda like Mando saving Grogu and getting the darksaber as a side effect. :D They are my favourite characters because of this.
I also love how the fight shows you that muscle and strength aren't always important, the other necromonger who Riddick fights is a fairly big guy, but Riddick just dodged all his attacks like nothing.
I might have pulled a Rick from Rick and Morty with the leader right at the beginning and be like 'Well, that was fun. Now, I have to go get arrested in a highly secure and famous prison planet and break a girl out.'
@Ben Silva No, I kill the guy right there while he watching me do the knife thing. Of course, Rick wouldn't do it unless his daughter, Summer and Morty were in mentioned prison, likely to portal in, get his family then portal out and leave a device that set the prison up like Saw, or sp,e horror movie that kills the prisoners and guards in cruel ways that be crueler then the last.

This has to be one of the most underrated action sci-fi flicks of all time. Sure it’s not as gritty and thrilling as Pitch Black (2000) or Riddick (2013) but I like how much it expands on the universe, and there is a lot of fun moments to be had. I for one, found the shift in tone from horror to action to be quite an easy and welcome shift. It offers something completely different and new to bring to the franchise. Sure the movie takes a lot of risks, but the said risks pay off wonderfully.
What you mean you can't wait for the next movie...this move here came out back in 2004. The "next movie"...the sequel to this one came out 6 years ago, back in 2013.
When I was younger, I missed so many tells in this movie. Vaako and his wife are intrigued by his disinterest in bowing to a leader they want to usurp. The other Furyan in the room instantly recognized him as one of his own. All of the Necromongers respected the fight between Riddick and Irgun, even after tha latter was defeated. I do believe without a doubt that the Lord Marshall would have let Riddick leave if he hadn't realized they had met before. There was so much more in this scene than just a vengeful challenge.
I love the look and mood of this film. Yes, okay, some of it seems contrived - a fiery planet called 'crematoria' and half dead villians with the title 'necromonger' does seem to be borderline silly. But even so, despite a bit of tongue-in-cheekiness I still like to watch it again and again. I think the supporting cast are excellent in this movie as well.. You'd think it was contrived and silly, but I actually think this could have been one of the most cunning stories ever told. Wouldn't you just love to know where they intended on taking the story? After the 3rd movie I was ticked because I thought the next step was Riddick learning he needed to die to go to the Underverse after receiving the purification mark. Once there he'd be able to start a search in that universe that the dead Necromongers go, like Kiera would have. Then after that feat have to figure out how to go back to their verse as the Lord Marshal had done so for his campaign. What a helluva story that could have been..... Makes me wonder if that was all along their intent?

They were trying to do too many things at once-build Riddick's origin story, create a subplot involving previous characters from Pitch Black, and develop the motive/lore of the necromongers. That's a lot to cram into a single movie, and while fun, it requires a lot of contrived and convenient plot devices to make it happen.
This sequel was so creative and brought so much more depth to the universe and Riddick's character. The third one just being a lazy rehash of the first hurts deep. It could've done SO MUCH.

I remember when the Necromongers came to my home planet. Luckily for us, extremely bad weather hindered their campaign and they simply gave up and left
This was my dad’s favorite series. We watched it a bit after my dad passed. My whole family sat together and my mom watched my reaction as I started piecing together so many sayings and references my dad would make. I always blew off the thought of watching these because I didn’t like action stuff or older movies (stuff before 2000s) and tossed this up to be bad. But i rewatched these movies after the first time watching them and now I’m making my boyfriend and roommates watch them. It’s been about 6 years since my dad died and I’m still looking up clips.
To be fair the Lord Marshal just forcibly removed a man's soul from his body and threw it into the void not 30 seconds before this scene takes place. Also this cheesy line sets up Riddick's response perfectly "Look - I'm not with everyone here." Lmfaooooo its all so good.
Thank God for TH-cam. you know when you just want to watch a badass scene from a movie, you just typed it in and some awesome person just uploads the exact scene that you wanted!
Riddick is one of the best examples of a truly sovereign man in fiction. He never once marches to anyone elses tune except his own. "Irgun. He was one of my best." That was meant as a compliment towards Riddick, Riddick responds "if you say so." He doesn't let the Lord Marshall rule him thru status. He doesn't let the Lord Marshal rule him thru force when Riddick doesn't let go of the knife. He doesn't let the Lord Marshal rule thru compliments or affability when Riddick responds 'you'd think I remember you' basically insulting the Lord Marshall which caused the Lord Marshall to respond on the defensive (as in he started to march to Riddicks tune) by saying 'what makes you think i'd remember you?' Riddick does this throughout the series, he never is swayed from marching to his own tune aka he is one of the best examples of a truly sovereign man in all of fiction. Other good examples would be Dr DOOM, Monkey D Luffy, Askeladd, Silva Zoldyck, Chrollo Lucilfer, etc.
this is a weird piece of dialogue. Riddick either says "you'd think I remember" as in "if we did meet, I should be able to remember" or he says it as an insult and Lord Marshall didn't understand what he meant, judging by his response, which would be a weird thing to do on the director part, so I think it's the first option.
@@metalmarten3478 I got the impression that the Lord Marshall knew it was an insult, but pretended it wasn't because he was in a weird position in front of the public he's supposed to be converting. If he just kills Riddick because of the insult, the people know his true colors, and none would convert. Also if he attacks Riddick for the insult, he demonstrates he's a weak man controlled by his emotions. Riddick is very rarely controlled by his emotions. Its actually even more impressive that Riddick said the insult in a way that the Lord Marshall could publicly save face if he simply marched to Riddicks tune, so Riddick insults the Lord and the Lord has to accept the insult by marching to Riddicks tune.

I don't remember how many times I re-watched this movie. But it is still one of the best movies I have ever watched, and this is the finest act of Vin Diesel.
“I bow to no man” I’ve never heard words dragged over gravel so beautifully.
It is a great line. My people (jewish) said it to Christians many many times when we were given the choice of bowing to jesus or death.
Riddick: "I bow to no man."
Riddick's Barber: "Riddickulous!"
He has no hair
badass lines I always remember. "I bow to no man, but I want a piece of him" "a piece you shall have" and that blade spinning. 😅
"I'm not with everyone here, but I will take a piece of him" is how it goes
"One of my best."
"...if you say so."
One of the best scifi movies ever made imo. It has its flaws no doubt but it's a damn fun watch. Right up there with Aliens and 5th element.
I forgot how the space opera look of this movie was awesome.
The hot Gal from West World is great
I remember when the Necromongers came to my home planet. Luckily for us, extremely bad weather hindered their campaign and they simply gave up and left
I like how that necromomer respected riddick.
Crazy that this movie wasn't thought of as good when it came out, but when you watch it now it's easily better than half the films we have nowadays.
The directors cut of this movie is really good. It is the best way to watch this movie and delves more into the furion lore.
The costuming in this movie is amazing... just wow!
I remember playing the Riddick video game 17 years ago. Time really does go by fast 🥺
Ah yes, on the original Xbox with the game titled Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. Definently good times :).
Vin Diesel, the master of the over the shoulder look 😂 😂 😂
"Have we met on some distant field?"
"I am Groot"
Not to mention how deep the content is... I feel like we are going through this right now in real life.
What's strange is that they injected the necromongers!!!!
@@renzo7503 Necromongers are based on the Draconian race.
"He's not a man, he's the holy half dead who's seen the underverse". Lol wtf
This was the 2004 version of hOw dArE yOu AsSuMe mY gEnDeR!!!!1!
I'm not a man i'm a necrokin.
@@juanthestabber lol
@Radamenti possibly, I feel half dead everyday
To be fair the Lord Marshal just forcibly removed a man's soul from his body and threw it into the void not 30 seconds before this scene takes place. Also this cheesy line sets up Riddick's response perfectly "Look - I'm not with everyone here." Lmfaooooo its all so good.
Well he did get promoted to holy full dead
-In our faith, you keep what you kill.
-Winning is winning!
I love Riddick’s subtle digs and disrespect.
The fast: Lord Marshal
The Furyan: Riddick
It’s the Fast and the Furyans!
lmfao
Who is watching in 2020 ?
Just me ?
Greetings from the Netherlands.
This Film is great and I'm glad you finally got to watch it
i am and also from the netherlands
Yes I am. Greetings from Montana USA
NL is an amazing place. Lived in Groningen for awhile
Greetings from Georgia USA!
I remember this movie when I was little and still is a badass scene 20 years later
Lord Marshall: "He was one of my best."
Riddick: "If you say so..."
Dream Evil "Then killing the rest of you will be easy."
SAVAGE!
His best soldier gone in 3 seconds.
Riddick is like Space Connan. His story and life are so cool to witness. Golry of a King to be
Thandie Newton and that dress
Olawdy!!!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍😍
@MackDaddy OfJustice HOW DARE YOU TAKE THAT BACK NOW
Went to a 'Japanese Karate dojo' and as the Grandmaster arrived, I said "I bow to no man"!
Everyone was ROTFL!
Thank God they had some sense of humor.
I love Vin Diesel because he's a awesome actor
Thank God for TH-cam. you know when you just want to watch a badass scene from a movie, you just typed it in and some awesome person just uploads the exact scene that you wanted!
"Irgun, one of my best..." Riddick: "If you say so." That line cracks me up every time.
Riddick: "I bow to no man."
Eomer: "Rohirrim!"
Riddick: But I will take a piece of him.
Vaako: A piece you will have.
Guy cuts off finger: here you go, you now have a piece of me.
Riddick: ...
That's not the piece he came for.
@@DP-ot6zf He didn't come for peace either.
vin diesel really was the only man that could play riddick
1:37 “if you say so” BRUH 💀
"Riddick, your crimes include multiple homicide and disturbance of the peace. Your sentence...is a piece of that guy."
Literally the most badass person in film history. If you see all the riddick films, you know what I mean. He's just badass.
Coolest scene ever. Strength mixed with style. 😎
This is one of the best action movies ever of 2004 🔥🔥👑👑
Vin Diesel is very badass in this movie, and the game based on this movie is also incredible
Love how they constructed the armor, looks awesome
I've seen this movie a few times, but I never noticed before how much difficulty Colm Feore is having seeing out of that ridiculous helmet.
Wish he would make more Riddick movies
Ruddick is such a underrated character he needs more franchise. He's such a goddamn badass..
best suits of armor in any movie
You'll be delighted to know the Lord Marshal's is copied from a real design
Design wise yes but in terms of “actual armor” not so much
😂
@@JohnSmith-zf1lq What does the real design look like?
Fun fact: they had to specially design the one Vin wore as a disguise, because he was too big to fit in the normal ones they had on hand.
Spent about 30 minutes looking for witch movie this was, when I found it I said to myself "Wow that was Riddick-ulously easy."
haha
Lame L
There's a witch movie? What's it called?
The Witcher... ironically... lol
LOL. xD Oh yeah, that's right...
It's 2230,on a Friday...
I awoke at 0455 this morning..
I've got this movie saved on sky plus on my bedroom TV..
Gonna watch it now...
It's the WEEKEND! !
Riddick: I bow to no man.
King T'Challa: It's OK we don't do it here.
I was a school kid then & I'd loved It, I wish they have had completed the "Furian" Riddick series😎
“Richard B Riddick escaped convict, murderer”
I don't care what anybody says. This was a great movie!
I agree. It's my favorite and yet it gets so much hate
I like that you uploaded the extended scene
Damn Necromonger blood dries awful quickly there was no blood spatter at all especially with those sweet knife moves.
