attempted to do a moody autumn reread of the secret history on the train this weekend, but the weather decided to get summery again 😩. reading about richard freezing to death in the warehouse doesn’t hit when you’re sweating your pits out at clapham junction
If reading wasn't invented AT this time of year, then it was certainly invented FOR this time of year. I told my friend that I was excited for autumn, she said "why", I said "you can get really cosy and read a book", she said "Hazel, you can do that any time of year. And you do...!", so I concluded that she just didn't GET IT and moved on 🍁🍁🍁
Yes, John Irving is for Fall. I loved The Secret History ! All Gothic tales are for this time of year (Dracula,Something Wicked This way comes, Agatha Christie, all E A Poe,The Turn of the Screw, Rebecca). This was fun, and yes all books are to be read with a hot mug of Tea curled up in bed,or in front of a fireplace. I love the Fall !🫖🍁📚 Happiness, Cindy
I just went to New York for a week and I went to some of the book shops you recommended! Happy Hour kept me company and was the perfect book to wander around NY with! And many more in my suitcase to enjoy from Madrid! Thanks Ana! ❤
Omg, I LOVE ‘A Moveable Feast’ - I’m obsessed with the 20s as the golden artistic era that it was😍 My next sort of fall read might be some Patti Smith, for some reason the beautiful cover of ‘Woolgathering’ is calling me
@@AnaWallaceJohnson love that movie! Have you read ‘Shakespeare and Company’ by Sylvia Beach, it’s really good - a lot of insights into the writers of that era😍
Still smiling. My favorite John Irving is Prayer for Owen Meany next Cider House Rules and then Garp. Irving is a great story-teller and writer. Black sweaters are made for the Fall. Happy reading!
Thank you for your repeated kindness :) Irving is always such an easy go-to. Saw Prayer for Owen Meany today in a thrift store and almost picked it up!
Oh my goodness me the sweaters in this video 🥰 really adding the coziest vibe to this wet rainy autumn Monday (the last sweater was my favorite of course)
3:09 you had me cracking up. Love the book recs and the style. I'm always looking out for your videos, you are definitely my fav booktuber right now. Thank you.
A woman after my own heart 💜 I love tea ☕️ *Slurp* Blankets , warm socks, a good book. What I love about Fall/autumn; is that Australia is having Spring and all their new releases start appearing. My favourite is Aussie Noir. 🍀👋☘️📚📕📖☕️💐🇮🇪
You're hilarious and your recs are awesome! What more can I ask for...so you've earned yourself a new subscriber :D P.S. The superimposition of the cow over your face was really touching + it's really cool your teacher gave you that book
ooooo the girl with the green ribbon story still haunts me i didn’t know that one of the stories was like that!! i read In the Dream House by her this year and really liked the writing so def checking that outttt! also looking gorgeous in this video
Absolutely! What is crazy to me is that the school library would shell those books out like they were candy. Scary Stories to tell in the dark were wild little novels haha
oooh wonderful recs thank you. i love the energy in your videos. some books i'm definitely reading this fall are the haunting of hill house (read we have always lived in the castle last autumn and loved it), and the bloody chamber. i also have my eye on far from the madding crowd, the book of disquiet, rebecca, and abigail by magda szabo. and some books i would highly recommend for this season are journal of a solitude, pnin, and girls against god.
thank you, thank you! I want to read some of Magda szabo. I thought to put pnin on this list, but it might sway almost more into winter, but definitely fits into either or, I think!
You’re hilarious, and I love it. My Fall reads: 1. The Sundown Motel by Simone St. James 2. Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young 3. The Saturday Night Ghost Club by Craig Davidson 4. The Whisper Man by Alex North

Ana, I just finished a book.and i was thinking many times about you while i was reading it, "20th century boy" by Duncan Hannah, its his diaries from 70s, New York, artists, and rockstars. I can almost see how you would walk all the places he mentions! Wild times these were..
Haven't read it! Heard his newest was pretty good--classic Iriving. Haven't been keeping up with his new releases, but have always heard only good things.
some of my fall recs would be the little stranger by sarah waters, black hole by charles burns, and station eleven by emily st john mandel 🥰🍁 all of these just scream evocative fall vibes to me… could be purely because i read them in the fall time 🤔
OMG you ushered at WTF? WTF was the reason I finally visited the States and got on my first plane way back in 2018!! so many memories flooding back now. So gutted Covid stopped my planned 2020 return..
