That was fun. Your parents' house is fabulous. Pine floors, big vases, Christmas cactus, sculptures and beautiful rugs. If it was a bed and breakfast I would visit. Now we know where you got your style.
Thank you! My parents have spent years curating it into what it is now. I’m so proud of them. It’s been a loooong journey. And yes, everytime I stay there, I also feel like I’m at a bed & breakfast (complete with the breakfast 😉)
We as a society do not talk about White Oleander enough! Hearing you mention it makes me want to reread it now, it certainly made an impact on me as a teen.
it's so wired that not many people talk about this book! with all of that hot girl summer and what not, I thought FOR SURE white oleander will come up BUT NO! same old titles everywhere 😢
RIGHT??? That book basically formed me. I remember writing short stories that were basically adaptations of WO and trying to claim minimal influence lol. I might read it again soon. Summer!
I have that same edition of Slaughterhouse Five. I like your editing choices when you went through your books. The quick-cutting, the close-up of your face after you mentioned "ASMR."
I like seeing your reaction to some of the random bizzare titles you have for some reason from who knows where. Those were funny. I wanted to see those pics and all that artwork too. Will look a few of these up as well. ❤
Thank you-I love that book so much. It led me down a rabbit hole of exploring similar novels. I’ve since read Elizabeth Costello by him, and while impressed by his writing, didn’t feel the same pull as Disgrace. Would love to get to South Africa!!
Great trivia about August Osage County. The playwright, Tracy Letts, played the part of "The Counterguy" in "The Strike" episode of Seinfeld in 1997 (Season 9 Episode 10). It wasn't until 11 years later that he won the Pulitzer for Drama and the Best New Play Tony Award in 2008.
Hey Ana, have you heard of Notes on a scandal? I'm reading it right now and thought you would like it, there's The piano teacher vibes I think. Also there's a movie with Cate Blanchett which is always a plus
❤To Have and Have Not It was confusing at first with the changing narratives, but I couldn’t help but empathize with the characters at the end. Hi from Japan!
love how the journey to loving literature as a lifestyle involves a lot of just buying literally any book ever and trying to love it regardless of personal taste
hahaha i got so excited to see you talk about everything is illuminated but then you discarded it basically immediately hahaha it’s all good it’s def a weird book but it’s a fave of mine
Your videos are great!! You have such an engaging personality; I look forward to more of them. If you haven't read it yet, The Life and Times of Michael K, by Coetzee is a favorite of mine.
I love the vibes of your videos but its like I have to go check out goodreads to know more about the books. Would love to hear more about the book plots and what it entails because just your opinion doesn't give us much to go on except the book titles
The Thorn Birds is my Grandmother's favourite book, I personally only saw a tv adaption (but a really good one that I still remeber quiet well even though this was like 10 years ago). But you inspired me, I'll add it to my wish list. :)
Hey Ana, great video. You ditched A Clockwork Orange and Fahrenheit 451? Oh well, you've done someone a lovely favour. Btw, loved the ASMR crinkle...I nearly nodded off. 😌
Doesn't matter what kind of day you've had, when Ana tells you you're wonderful and fabulous, you believe it. 😂
Baby, you better believe it!!!!!
That was fun. Your parents' house is fabulous. Pine floors, big vases, Christmas cactus, sculptures and beautiful rugs. If it was a bed and breakfast I would visit. Now we know where you got your style.
Right! Kinda want to be snowed in there with books 🤌🏼
their house is so beautiful omg I rewatch these videos just for the _aesthetics_

I was obsessed with that book as a teenager. I read it while listening to No Doubt’s Return to Saturn album. Both mean so much to me now. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
RIGHT??? That book basically formed me. I remember writing short stories that were basically adaptations of WO and trying to claim minimal influence lol. I might read it again soon. Summer!
1000000% agreed about this being a hot girl summer read
@@AnaWallaceJohnson Yes, let's do it! 🥳
You're a gem! I love how succinct your videos are and you are so incredibly articulate and genuinely funny 🤗
Thank you so much! I credit a lot to editing (and my morning coffee 😜😜😜)
I have that same edition of Slaughterhouse Five. I like your editing choices when you went through your books. The quick-cutting, the close-up of your face after you mentioned "ASMR."
I’m so happy you caught the ASMR face. It’s my favorite part of the video
gosh i love the way you edit your videos! and your vibes???? immaculate. chef's kiss. a woman i aspire to be
baby, you're perfect the way you are
@@AnaWallaceJohnson gonna wish the algorithms help push your videos more cause they're a gem

Haha! The artwork needed to remain hidden. The photos were old film pics I took!
So impressed you’ve read Disgrace. I’m South African and not many have read J.M. Coetzee.
Thank you-I love that book so much. It led me down a rabbit hole of exploring similar novels. I’ve since read Elizabeth Costello by him, and while impressed by his writing, didn’t feel the same pull as Disgrace. Would love to get to South Africa!!
I recently reread the Perks of Being Wallflower and it was wonderful
How hard did you cry??
@@AnaWallaceJohnson Harder than I did in high school. I've gone soft in my old age.

HA! It feels like all of Hollywood can tie back to Seinfeld. 11 years! Resilience is key.
Impressive list...and I wonder about what my list should be like. 📚
Fun trip down memory lane.
Who we were, right?
Hey Ana, have you heard of Notes on a scandal? I'm reading it right now and thought you would like it, there's The piano teacher vibes I think. Also there's a movie with Cate Blanchett which is always a plus
Oh baby, I LOOOOOVED that movie. Cate AND Dame Judy? Sign me up. Haven’t read the book though. But I imagine it’s exactly something I’d love
Thank you for this video… and that ASMR crinkle. Loved the childhood book, that was super cute.
This is going to be an ASMR channel very soon
❤To Have and Have Not It was confusing at first with the changing narratives, but I couldn’t help but empathize with the characters at the end. Hi from Japan!
Hi!!! I wanna come visit soon! Looking forward to reading the book

1000000%. I’d say my reading style is just a foundation of found books and things on sale.
"I don't like boys yet, but I will" *smirk LOLLLLL
lmaoooo who was she???
@@AnaWallaceJohnson definitely an intellectual
I remember reading the Thorn Birds and cried so much at the end that I couldn't go to my Satuday job the next day .. I was about 16 😢😢😢
One of my favorite books of all time ! Love the mini series too !
I never saw the series .. loved the book too much
Omg. Swollen crying face is a real thing. I understand
Perfect point of shooting, I could barely see a single cover😊
Hahaha I knowwww. So bad. Next time I’ll check the sun!

Lmaooooo to be fair, I don’t think I was developed enough to understand. I was younger and a bit sillier!
Your videos are great!! You have such an engaging personality; I look forward to more of them. If you haven't read it yet, The Life and Times of Michael K, by Coetzee is a favorite of mine.
Thank you so, so much. Really means a lot. I have seen The Life and Times in so many stores! I'll keep it on my radar!
I love the vibes of your videos but its like I have to go check out goodreads to know more about the books. Would love to hear more about the book plots and what it entails because just your opinion doesn't give us much to go on except the book titles
Thanks so much! I usually do more of an extensive book wrap up, but this video was kind of a rapid fire asseseement

I've actually never seen the adaptation! I would like to. I've only heard astonishing things about it :)))
Hey Ana, great video. You ditched A Clockwork Orange and Fahrenheit 451? Oh well, you've done someone a lovely favour. Btw, loved the ASMR crinkle...I nearly nodded off. 😌

You can do it!!! Keep those books and make that video, baby!!

I love disgrace too
Tender is the night is my favourite Fitzgerald book
Keep the goon squad
I think I actually kept the goon squad aside. I might read it soon
Was not expecting to learn that The Meg is based on a book!
I wasn’t expecting to learn The Meg is an adaptation ahaha
i didn’t much enjoy goodbye to berlin either but i kept my copy because the cover is stunning!
yeeees, the perks of being a wallflower was such a huge part of me going my own way as a teen.
I gave that book out to everyone I knew!! Read it about 5x. No regrets
Ana does *not* care what anyone else says!!
*finger snaps* do NOT care!
I loved Outer Dark by McCarthy, such a bleak haunting story but not to everyone’s taste…worth a try😊
I think next time I see my parents I’ll pick that one up and take it back!
Just reread the snows of Kilimanjaro, for me it is a perfect short story.
I’m gonna bring it back to NYC next time I go. Hemingway is slowly becoming my second baby boy
Also did you know Simon from Savidge Reads tagged you in his last video?
I gotta catch up on my vid watching!! Simon is king
Killing dance moves? 😂
