    I love how you respected the place by covering your hair even outside the mosque. It’s not mandatory for tourists but I have seen many who don’t care about the culture and just stay half naked in front of people near the doors of the mosque! I hope you’re enjoying your trip in Morocco ❤

      Thank you, I'm pleased that I've been able to do the right thing. It's always a worry when sharing my experiences online that whilst I mean well, I get something wrong. I was a little surprised to see I was the only female in our tour group who covered my head (including our female guide) but I'm so grateful that I was able to visit this mosque as I know it's the only one I can in Morocco, that I wanted to be as respectful as possible as it's always sad when the actions of tourists spoil things and opportunities are taken away because of it.

    Caroline, Thanks for sharing! What an amazing Mosque. I have never been to Casablanca. I have been to the "Dome of the Rock" in Jerusalem that is another amazing Mosque. My dad was in Casablanca in WW2 in the US Army. Glad I can see the Mosque and Morocco through your videos.🕌 Glad you asked about filming after the tour. Love your channel stay safe. Cheers 🍧🍧🕵‍♂

      That's really cool that you've been to the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem... or even just Jerusalem in general. Both are on my bucket list! I was so pleased I plucked up the courage to ask about filming... otherwise this video wouldn't have existed and it would have been added into the other Casablanca one I have coming out later today! Cheers 🍦🍦

    That right there is a beautiful building! What a break to be allowed to do some filming after the tour ended, especially as you had the place to yourself! You're right that if you don't ask you don't get. Very interesting to see inside. That DIY food tour looks intriguing!

      I still can't get over how lucky I was to get in just as that last tour group left. Like you, I was amazed by how beautiful the building looked. The food tour... particularly in the fish market where some of those clips were from was amazing, I'm excited to share the next video! Though we did redeem things by doing an actual food tour with a guide when we circled back to Marrakech!

    How are you doing mrs Caroline thank you for sharing your trips with us. As always iam gathering main information about places you visited briefly here it’s Hassan mosque is largest functioning mosque in Africa and 7 largest in the world. Located at Casablanca Morocco. The minaret of mosque at 689 foot, completed in 1993 . Was designed by Michel Pinseau under guidance of king Hassan 11 and built by Moroccan artisans from all over kingdom of Morocco. The minaret is 60 stories high topped by laser , light from which is directed toward Mecca . The mosque stands on promontory looking but to Atlantic Ocean . Worshippers can pray over sea . The walls of mosque are of handcrafted marble and roof is retractable. There are no entry fee for mosque .

      Hi Khatoon. Ramadan Mubarak for yesterday, I hope you had a lovely day celebrating it with family and friends. The mosque seemed so big, it's hard to believe there are 6 bigger ones than this in the world! I didn't realise there was a laser on the top that points towards Mecca - we never made it across there at night time! I wish I'd found the part where people can pray over the sea! I understand with the entry fee, it's free if you're Muslim and wish to pray, but that it costs if you're non-Muslim and therefore must go on a tour which is what we did.

    People do have contribution certificates as they funded the construction of the mosque and was given to them in the early 90s.. basically almost all Moroccans then financially contributed . .. handcrafted tall building is difficult. ..

    • @WhenAdventureKnox
      @WhenAdventureKnox  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think I explained this very well. I understand our guide meant the general day to day upkeep costs are now covered by the entry fee paid by tourists to tour the Mosque. But agree that it wasn't tourists who initially funded it.

    while it's true that mosque was built by Moroccans, and arts done by an army of thousands of Moroccan artist from all over the country, but because a part of the mosque is literaly built on the sea(they did that because of a verse in the Quran that says "And He it is Who has created the heavens and the earth in six Days and His Throne was on the water, that He might try you, which of you is the best in deeds” [Hood 11:7]) that blueprints of it was done by the amazing French architect Michel Pinseau, the same one who built the Beaux-Arts de Paris university.

      @WhenAdventureKnox  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ooooh I didn't know the architect was French, or the reason behind why some of it built over the sea. Thank you for sharing this

    You should also visit the mosque ( now converted to cathedral ) of Cordoba in Spain . I wonder what is the oldest landmark of Morocco in UK and that’s of UK in Morocco…
