  • King Hassan the second of Morocco ruled for thirty eight years. The population was against the hereditary kind of rule. But King Hassan allowed for a multi-party system to be incorporated into Morocco's first constitution of 1963, the system was the only one in the Maghreb at the time.

    Hassan 2 was a smart and wise man. But he wasn't a perfect king. They didn't talk about the situation with the imazigh langueages, or about what happend in the Rif in the 60s. Morocco was always a country with many folks, the Arabs and the Imazighen ( The Chleuhs, The Riffis,...). He tried to make one nation, and that wasn't simple with the many folks. He put Morocco on the map that is for sure. What they also didn't tell is that the Moroccan people feared him. If you would talk bad about the king in his time with family or friends they would look at you with big eyes. But one thing is for sure, he will always be in the Moroccan history books. This is my perspective as an Chleuh Amazigh from Agadir.

    His Majesty late Hassan II was hard yet soft he loved deeply his nation and us moroccans, he was invincible even if he was betrayed many times by his close friends unfortunatly, but fortunatly for us moroccans he kept his head high and at the end he passed away in his royal bed like the great king he was, and that was after the betrayers of the nation died like dogs. May peace be upon his soul, and God bless and protect his Majesty King Mohamed VI and protect Prince Moulay Hassan ❤🇲🇦🙏

  • @mohamedguennouni2827

    I feel like the translation done on Andre Azulay is conveniently incorrect, and key things are left out. 23:53, for example, he says that for King Hassan II his main priority were his people "the Moroccans"; he repeats this many times to emphasize the point and it gets left out of the translation every time. The documentary is nice but there is an obvious bias, or narrative; it would've been awesome to watch this without the bias creeping in. King Hassan II was a great king, and a true adherent to free thought. He chose the most logical, and pragmatic routes to set the framework for Morocco's political stability, and economy. Remember that all the Moroccan intellectuals at the time, and many foreign countries in North Africa opted for a communist approach when the non-conformist visionaire from Morocco implemented a free market system.The documentary stresses the point of education as a negative during King Hassan II's rule. In the beginning of his rule Morocco was very poor, people didn't have enough to eat, and a child can't learn on an empty belly. This is the rationale behind his famous quote: "You are not going to feed our children pencils." By the time Morocco became a global agricultural player, the public schools had become more popular than the private schools. My mother was delighted she got accepted to public school after her primary education. Her father was one of the wealthiest businessmen in the country at the time so they couldn't care less for the prices of private schools. Rather, the changes made to the public school system during King Hassan II's time were so drastic that people were proud to have been accepted to the public school system if they had means; because it was selective for people with means, and it was the best education available.

    Very well set doc. Regarding Hassan 2nd nationalism sequence, shortcuts are made. He was not the nationalist described. He strongly faught his people to maintain colonialism. This is straightly history.

    • @Hamza23792
      @Hamza23792 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hassan 2 was fighting communist and the fucking leftists. If it wasn't for him god knows were we would be now.

    • @faycalcherouati6438
      @faycalcherouati6438 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      H_ FF Indeed, he was. But dont mix up history. King Hassan 2nd was the allie of Spain in 1961 untill Spain left Rio del Oro. This is why he faught against real nationalist mvt during 1956-1973 period. Since he was considered as an ennemy of morrocan national mouvement. This is also why most of leftists and morrocan socialists/communists were against gathering Rio del Oro to morrocan kingdom. Eg, Serfati etc...

    • @Hamza23792
      @Hamza23792 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Fayçal Ché lol you got everything wrong my son ! The moroccan nationalist and the military putschistes wanted to invade algeria and mauritania as they considered them part of the empire! Go look up the motivation of the moroccan nationalists at tha time...the military were insulted when Hassan 2 forbid them to annexed the eastern sahara which was taken from us by the french...if it wasn't for Hassan 2 and his vision there would still be ethnic and ideological wars in the region...
