I am an American , who had never been to England before. And I had no Idea that the RAF had an Air Base just outside of the city of Lincoln . I was at the 2015 FH-DCE Super Rally . Held at the Lincoln Fair Grounds. And the RAF gave us an Air show on the first day of the Rally. Now, I am not sure if it was this Lancaster or another one. But the RAF did do a few low flybys with one of these magnificent Birds. Along with several flights of Swordfish ( all in "V" formations) . A Spitfire, a Vulcan AND a ME109! the 109 and the Spitfire even flew a simulated dogfight! All while we were unpacking our Harleys . And setting up our tents! Man There were over 20000 Harley Davidsons at the event. And as I was setting up my tent. There was this rumbling noise. And it was a rumble I had never heard before. So I am looking around to see a massive convoy of bikes. And I didn't see them but the rumble was still there and getting louder. Then I realised it was coming from above! And I looked up . And went OMG! as a flight of swordfish followed by this majestic Aircraft. Flying just a couple hundred meters over my head! And I just stood there with my mouth hanging open going wow! Because none of us were expecting this to happen. And it was one hell of a suprise! The big Stars in this Airshow in my book. Were the Lancaster and the Vulcan! They were just amazing to watch them fly. And the memory of that event. I consider, one of the greatest gifts that the RAF and British people could ever give to me. It was not expected nor asked for. But was totally awesome! Thank you RAF and QE2 for the Awesome show. I will never forget that day...

@@DrinkyWinkyWoos not sure how long afterwards. But that Vulcan was the one that crashed a few years ago. Those old timer Birds of War. Are just mind blowing amazing. And very much a treat. When still in flying condition. I salute all who are involved. In keeping these relics of the past, in the air. I really do...

Are there plans in the works to make her airworthy?

Restoration works are ongoing to 2027, although I haven’t seen anything about taking to the skies. I could be wrong though of course
