Sometimes you seem to think your videos are boring, think about who it is that's mostly watching your videos.
Let me make some assumptions, about 20% don't even own a boat, but have dreams about owning one "someday".
At least 70 % own a boat, but it's the wrong type of boat to make a long trip.
The lucky. ones with the right type of boat have dreamed about doing what you're doing, but have never done it for anyone of 100's reasons.
But we all get to live vicariously thru your videos no matter who we are.

My dad had bought a small camp only about 10" from the lake for $16,000 and owned it for 50 plus years.
When he passed away no one in the family wanted it, and it fell in disrepair.
My sister was the exutor of his estate and put off trying to sell it for year because she thought it was useless because she did not like boats, swimming or fishing.
The first day it was listed 10 people showed to make offers.
    It sold for over $350,000.

23 Those who sail on the sea in ships, who do business on the high seas,
24 have seen what the LORD can do, the miracles he performed in the depths of the sea.
25 He spoke, and a storm began to blow, and it made the waves rise high.

They're called swamp barges or hero barge. They were used for supplies carrying men in and out of swamped to louisiana. Some had flat decks to carry supplies.Possibly a little house on it.Others were open hall with seating. You put a swap motor on it and you get in and out of one foot of water. Use in the old oil field days. I think they're still made.

My bet about the area where that house was located, at one time a developer came in there with big plans to make a resort community, but for some reason the company went bust, most likely something like the crash of 2008-09 killed the place. Maybe someone bought that house or it was just a sales model. Over the years of living in Florida and coastal South Carolina and Georgia, there are scores of such places in all three states. It was cool to take a tour of those abandoned structures. Another enjoyable Brenton and Wavy Beagle Shanty video!

All I could think about is all that beautiful pine in that old house would look great in a shanty build. Yeah I believe it was a storm damaged property.
I had a friend that owned a beach house on the SC coast that was in a area that the state had made into a park if he passed the state would take it and use it for a rental and his children would have to rent it if they wanted to go there. Just before he died he sent in son who was a contractor and had it demolished and hauled away, he said that he had built, maintained it, paid taxes on it and had intended for his family to enjoy it and the state didn’t give him anything in return. So the state got a nice clean lot.

I could sense it too, the gov can do whatever it wants without recourse. A frugal, minimalist with a dog can only hope they don’t target him. Fortunately, they were professional and made the stop short and didn’t fine him for anything.

As a former member of the Coast Guard, who did my share of safety inspections, the manner that these two performed the inspection is totally within the standards that Coast Guard personnel perform such evolutions. They maintained their professional demeanor. The Coast Guard has many missions, including performing safety boardings such as this on recreational boats. A boarding team may not be overly friendly but they still are your friends out on the water. But for their own safety, boarding members who perform a boarding on any sort of vessel must remain on their guard when going aboard someone else's boat. Just like state troopers and other land based law enforcement officers never know when a "routine" traffic stop can go sideways in a New York nanosecond, the Coast Guard have had vessel boardings go very bad in which the crew members of the stopped vessel have attacked Coast Guard boarding parties with weapons like Machetes, iron bars and firearms. Like it or not, this was a textbook vessel safety inspection at sea. And yes, one of the Coast Guard's high priority missions is to protect our waterways, vessels and port facilities from the dangers posed by potential adversaries, foreign and domestic! This post may piss some people off, but in this, that is too freaking bad. The Coast Guard is not going to F with someone just to do it, the service and it's men and women have their duties to perform. Making sure that recreational vessels have all of the proper safety gear and equipment in good working order is one that has value. If more recreational boaters knew all of the proper gear that they are supposed to have such equipment on board, and they knew, understood and followed The Rules of the Road to a greater extent than they tend to do, there would be less instances of boating accidents with the attendant injuries, loss of life and property. I can tell you that out on the waters that they patrol, the Coast Guard has your back and you will love to see Coast Guard surface vessels and aircraft come to your aid when the shit hits the fan, often in the worst possible weather conditions. We gladly put ourselves in harm's way to fulfill this prime Coast Guard mission along with facing the bad guys. Off of San Diego some years back, almost the entire crew of CG patrol boat much like this one in the video, were injured by drug smugglers and the Senior Chief Bosun's Mate in command of the boat was killed. The smugglers opened fire with automatic weapons as the CG boat approached theirs. It was a Mexican drug cartel smuggling operation.I will say that Brenton did quite well for himself. He acted in a calm, cool manner. Good job or as Coasties like to say: BRAVO ZULU to Brenton.

I just ran across an idea that might help you. My best guess is that it is called a shallow water sand auger anchor. The main part is called. PlayStar PS 1100 Commercial Grade Auger (on amazon). There are videos on YT that use PVC for poles. However, I think you could use an 8ft galvanized fence post (or cut to whatever length you want.) Might want 2 of them, one for each corner. You being a handy guy, you would figure out brackets for the poles to attach to the boat. While not in use, could hand them on the side of the house on brackets. Just a thought.🤔

In the north there is lots of it simply because no one lives there. I hope you take the Trent Severn route and learn more about Canada, when Sho and Jo came through, they where warmly welcomed.
