Watching my parents and their friends over the years, I have come to the conclusion that staying active, not having everything conveniently at your fingertips is the best way to live and truly enjoy life to the fullest for the longest possible. Absolutely loved this week's vlog. I'll admit that since sitting/lying down at 6pm on a Thursday night to watch your vlogs, I see life in the canal very differently. Living just off the Lower Peak Forest (between Woodley and Hyde) I see many canal boats when I go for a walk and see their life through your eyes/vlog. Keep up the amazing vlogs Heidi

I am from Bridgnorth, Shropshire, glad to see you are still enjoying the beautiful Shropshire countryside.
One of the things I would love is all the brilliant brickwork. That tunnel have stood there for 200 years, nowadays you're lucky if buildings stands for 50 😱 and that is called progress btw 🤔🌹🤣🤓😤
I done two narrow boat holidays, one when i was 26, loved it, back then things were so easy at that age! Then i done it again a the age of 60, and it was a lot harder, brain willing but body said no. I would love to live on a narrow boat but as i get older it would be impossible to do!

Very nice. You can burn many other things besides wood. (English is not my first language). Please consider. Take a stainless steel small pot, fill it up with old cooking oil/any flammable liquid. Insert a wooden stick into the liquid. Make sure the stick is popping up above the liquid. Place the pot inside the stove.
Kindling, known in deepest Somerset as "Light fire sticks". Used to enjoy gleaning kindling especially with me Mum when I was a kiddie, nothing better, especially on a cold still day.

Nothing like living on a boat..I was on a lake for years and had mountains all around..I did a lot of hiking..everyday a new scenery.and we had a great community. .love your boat!!

Very cool!!! I, along with my kids, spent 4 days on a Narrow Boat while vacationing in England!! It was great. I always tell everyone about the great experience and highly encourage them to spend at least a couple of days on a Narrow Boat should they visit England. I really enjoyed this. Half my life ago I lived on a Broads Cruiser in Oulton Broad surrounded by a wonderful community of boat people. Now after years in houses, I’m about to head off and live on my sailing boat for the summer in the South West of Ireland. I’m really looking forward to such a change of pace, going wherever the wind (or my inspiration) takes me!
@@TheNarrowboatPirate yeah it’s a beautiful spot alright. I’ll be staying in the salt water this time, Bantry Bay, Kenmare River, Valentia Island, Dingle Bay etc. I might settle somewhere along the way as a home port or I might keep exploring new places, that’s the beauty of it!

I'm still new to this. This is my third month aboard and for the same reasons I'm loving it though I do have to commute to work every day. I still have my car so I'm stuck on this bit of canal until I find a job I can do from my boat. At the moment I do wiring in tanks. A bit of study on my boat and I might be able to do the same for boats. A mobile boat electrician who could moor alongside for the bigger jobs could be of use I reckon.

Ok Heidi, I'm sold. Narrow boating is the life. Before I rented our boat, I did a lot of reading on best canals to go on etc and eventually read a book by a couple who rented Before purchasing. Their recommendations were don't even think about going through a city, particularly when kids are about. They are known for chucking rocks on boats as they go under bridges. Is this true??? So we ended up where you are. Which was a better alternative, and healthier for any school kids. With Viking blood running through our veins, it's not a great idea to test our patience. Particularly when we've traveled 12k miles to do this. Loving your channel Heidi. Keep it coming. Take care and atb from down here in Nz. Cheers.

If it’s damp and your looking for dry wood look for Hazel. Pull on the the upright trunk/ branches and the dead ones will just pull away and because it hasn’t been on the ground it will be dry and helps the Hazel put out new growth so everyone’s a winner.

Nothing like living on a boat..I was on a lake for years and had mountains all around..I did a lot of hiking..everyday a new scenery.and we had a great community. .love your boat!!

Very cool!!! I, along with my kids, spent 4 days on a Narrow Boat while vacationing in England!! It was great. I always tell everyone about the great experience and highly encourage them to spend at least a couple of days on a Narrow Boat should they visit England. Thank you for this video, brings back great memories.

I really enjoyed this. Half my life ago I lived on a Broads Cruiser in Oulton Broad surrounded by a wonderful community of boat people. Now after years in houses, I’m about to head off and live on my sailing boat for the summer in the South West of Ireland. I’m really looking forward to such a change of pace, going wherever the wind (or my inspiration) takes me!

I'm still new to this. This is my third month aboard and for the same reasons I'm loving it though I do have to commute to work every day. I still have my car so I'm stuck on this bit of canal until I find a job I can do from my boat.
At the moment I do wiring in tanks. A bit of study on my boat and I might be able to do the same for boats. A mobile boat electrician who could moor alongside for the bigger jobs could be of use I reckon.

Ok Heidi, I'm sold. Narrow boating is the life. Before I rented our boat, I did a lot of reading on best canals to go on etc and eventually read a book by a couple who rented Before purchasing. Their recommendations were don't even think about going through a city, particularly when kids are about. They are known for chucking rocks on boats as they go under bridges. Is this true??? So we ended up where you are.
Which was a better alternative, and healthier for any school kids. With Viking blood running through our veins, it's not a great idea to test our patience. Particularly when we've traveled 12k miles to do this. Loving your channel Heidi. Keep it coming. Take care and atb from down here in Nz. Cheers.

If it’s damp and your looking for dry wood look for Hazel. Pull on the the upright trunk/ branches and the dead ones will just pull away and because it hasn’t been on the ground it will be dry and helps the Hazel put out new growth so everyone’s a winner.

Hi Heidi ... always wanted to live on a narrow boat but my wife said no no no after giving her head a real bang ( tears a plenty ) going down into the cabin - methinks it must be quite expensive now cost of fuel etc - hope you have a good job for you to enable the lovely outdoor life - love your presentation ...joe
