The tie-down is threaded as a through and through so you don't have to worry about there been a top or bottom and the threads are strong enough to hold it in place with the aid of the washers :-) yep the glue is really strong but i do advise that you allow it to dry for 24hrs before assembling and moving. any further questions feel free to ask :-D
what I do is firstly add a dab of the glue to the tip of the rod, so that it goes around the threads, then I pus a small drop into the bead, once I screw in the bead I wipe of any excess with a cloth or tissue and leave for 24hrs to make sure the bond has taken with the glue. If the issue persists it may be a issue with the glue and i would recommend emailing Animation Toolkit
Nice review thanks for posting. I've neen considering buying these. Tell me though, is the toe piece threaded so the tie down will hold if put up through the set and into the toe from below? And, does the glue really hold the stuff together well? I wouldn't want a joint to break in the middle of production. Thanks again!
Could you please tell me how to use the glue? I am just getting into making armatures. I started putting one of these together and the joints are loose. I've only done the head and left arm so far. But the arm is very loose and I made sure the joints are right and secure.
you can indeed, you just need to use a blow torch on the glue to burn it off then you can take off the ball beads from the threaded rods. its what I had to do to make the new Rex puppet, still only at the head stage.
Depending on the weight of the puppet yes, the newer human character the company makes in this kit can be supported by magnets as well as tie-downs but if you armature gets too big it can become top heavy and after a certain point the magnets loose their grip, e.g points between a walk cycle, unless you have some really powerful magnets that is.

will magnetic tie-downs work effectively with this armature?

Can you take it apart and make something new now?
They have a bunch of new armatures on their site and it's difficult because I don't know which one to go for!
+Kat Standfield If you send me a pm I can talk you through each of the armatures as I used to freelance for them last year
