Clearing more Land - Dozer work for a garden and yard area

  • We got an opportunity to use some extra time on a rented dozer for the week so we paused projects and focused on moving things around to clear more land. We continued clearing around the house to make space for a garden area as well as a future yard.
Every step gets us closer to our final vision of this property. All the land clearing makes space for new areas but also opens up the property to allow more light, pushes back the bug pressure, and gives us added fire protection.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. You proved that. Your shed roof looks great. Would love to see your wife and kiddies again. They were such a big part of your videos to start with. Keep up the good work

You guys have accomplished so much on your lil homestead and Cody is a pro cutting trees and using that mill to create all the lumber you need for your home and sheds. You guys are doing great - it is all coming together nicely ❤️

Building a home never stops, it's what you put into it that can stop. Keeping your head clear for the long haul is key to a beautiful home for a family and not just hard work day in day out that will drain your joy. Remember to take time off and appreciate eachother for the progress you both make as a team. Remember it's a life long build that needs you both to succeed... Gl and TC 😁🇬🇧

Good job on clearing the land. Right now it would be best to finish with the roof on the Saw Mill / Solar Shed, so that it would be useable during the winter. Also see it someone is using a loader or Tractor with a bucket so that you can move some of the piles of dirt to build up your road. Once winter hits you will not be able to do any dirt work till everything dries out in May.

You will never get to the back row of firewood. As you refill in front and take from the front. I would have loaded only on the pallet so you could access the front and the side. At least put green wood back there to season.

Yet another project started and not finished. Bets on seeing blue tarp on the roof of the woodshed, the generator/freezer room, and the storage area for the shiplap and the sawmill. It would be great if there was a roof before it snowed, but it doesn't look like it will happen. Who knows about the dirt???

      "...unfinished projects".
What have you done in the last 16 months?
They've built a house, had a baby, worked on the woodshed. If that's not enough for you, help out and pay for the building materials too! That would be a great help!

If you want hard but yet soft towels don’t wash them with fabric softener, because the softener is what makes them feel wrong for drying off.
The new home looks absolutely beautiful, however I do have a few questions like where is the veg garden going?
    Where is the greenhouse going?
Where are you building the wood shed?
Because ideally you could do with putting the wood shed in before winter!
My last question is - How much land came with the property eg forest or do you have a pond etc?

  • @waderue

Spruce is easier to light and burns hotter, birch will burn for a much longer time though. I like having them mixed because depending on if we are cooking or trying to keep a fire going overnight we have both to access.
