Got a PNY Verto Triple Fan one and it had zero coil whine right out of the box.
Are you happy with your purchase? I've been on the fence about it and I'm able to get it under MSRP new.
Mine whines like a banshee above 60 fps.

Hardware comes so power maximized these days, you pretty much have to undervolt anymore.
I have this model and I power limit it to 75% which gives it around 350W TDP and runs at 90-95% speed. The 4090 are technically overclocked out of the box so if you're looking for a power efficient approach to the 4090 topic, this card is way more than enough. It barely reaches 60C with path tracing on and is not bad for my bills and I really couldn't care about 5-10% extra frames.

450 watts is the limit. It usually runs about 250-350 watts, about like a 3080 so calm down Sparky.
All 4090’s are going to be within 5% of each other. I say get the one that fits your build and you can afford. I personally have the MSI Gaming Trio which was the smallest 4090 I could get.

Every card has a form of whine. It depends on your level of sensitivity to it.
Actually the 4080 Aero doesn't seem to... that I find is one good thing about it
@ErockOnTech I have a zotac 4090 amp and even pushing 495 watts I don't hear any whine. Even with the Glass panel off. It seems like asus and msi cards have it pretty bad though
Literally every card has whine and 90% I have headphones on that have active noise cancelling so I can't hear it anyways 😏
@tbmdd you wouldn't be able to hear while playing a game even without anc. Maybe I've just gotten lucky but I've never had a card with noticeable coil whine and I sit right now to pc as it sits on my desk. 🤷♂️
Anyone try flashing a 600 watt bios such as Gigabyte Gaming OC bios on a PNY 4090 yet?

I have the pny 4090, best card i have ever had i tried asus strix 3090, evga 3090 msi 3070 and msi 3070ti the pny is amazing its very cool and effiecent and only about 1% performance loss compared to the strix, mine had minimal coil whine, and when benchmarking it scores up there with what you would expect a 4090 to be at, the 3080ti Evga had issues of producing artifacts of use less than a month, while the strix 3090 had insanely loud coil whine and was overall very loud, the msi 3070 was cheap quality but overall it performed worse than what a normal 3070 would perform according to benchmarks other people got.
exactly. The 1% loss of performance compared to the higher tier models are very negligible.
A few less frames won't degrade performance.
As cheap as the 40-90 is, it annihilates any 40/80 rog strix at liquid, That comes to cost more. the difference in the number of Cuda Cores is huge, over 6000

Hello I don't really know much about cards, I saw this one just a bit cheaper than others, I Jus want to know if I'll be able to play everything at max. I don't mind tweaking settings that you can't see real difference or using dlss or fsr. But I expect it to be able to keep up with upcoming games for the next 2 to 3 years. Am I aiming too high?
Probably for a bit longer than that. Because of it's already powerful features like frame gen will keep it viable for a quite a while I expect.
I got the OC version of the Pny 4090 myself, It is so quiet that I had to look up what coil whine sounded like for comparison lol. How do you like the Velocity X software? I'm tempted to use MSI afterburner..

4090 Ti was cancelled months ago. Now they are talking about “Super” but that’s below the 4090.
Do you mean 4080 super? I'm about to buy 4090 in a couple of days. I'm thinking about getting the Zotac one but there are three versions. Trinity, Trinity OC and AMP Extreme Aero. Does it really matter going for the AMP extreme? I'm confused and would appreciate your help.

I have palit 4090 oc with 520watt bios no coil whine problems card run at 2955 Boost Clock.
It's strange that yours has these problems because usually only the most racy cards have them

Bad pcb with 14+3 phases of 50 amps, with a terrible input filter and equally bad output filter.
so basically what you're saying is you sold a 4080 for a a crappy 4090 that you had to tone down and already toned down card and limit it's framerate and performance ultimately making the same performance as a 4080... good job

@@ErockOnTech yea and cablemod. Tried to screw me. I ended up needing a whole card and after fighting with them they finally sent me $1800 for a new card.
Melted connectors are not a pny problem, it's an nvidia power connector problem, so the joke is actually on you for not knowing that.
