have replied to the survey ... have a 3080 master with similar LCD ... same problems for the last 2 years so don't hold up much hope for them fixing. only works for me briefly just after running a nvidia driver update but before rebooting. Bios updates are painful! RGB Fusion is essential non-functional.
Hi @der8auer EN I have a colourful iGame RTX 3070Ti, the form does not have a section for the iGame center. This software is very bad, it has two different sections for setting up RGB lighting one being in top bar with the bulb logo and another one within the device menu and within that it has another option for "Light Settings". Both of them only work for the current boot and once the system power cycles the GPU reverts back to the default setting of red light blinking. Sometimes it turns to the set config after the windows log in but other times it requires the software to be launched so that the RBG setting can be applied. Additionally the software always runs as an administrator on the system which is the reason I have disabled it to automatically run on start-up. If you try to Linux there is no way to turn off the RBG.

Its not the software fault its his user error he not using the 3-pin RGB Header Cable that need to plug in the card to the motherboard for fusion to work with the card omg guy lol!
This was the thing that surprised me the most when I first build a custom PC. All software associated with hardware is just insanely bad. BIOS Interfaces are impossible to navigate, motherboard and RGB looks like it was made by a single intern in 2003 and often doesn’t work properly and even performance monitors and overlocking tools are sometimes really difficult to use.
@misanthrop Well, personally I care a lot about that kind of stuff, the problem is more that from what I've seen there isn't a single manufacturer with 'good' software. And while I use Macs for personal stuff, there isn't really an alternative to custom PCs if you want to play games.
I think RGB should be standardized a controlled over operating system. I imagine something like volume control or media keys. You don't need special 3rd party software to control volume, same with modern keyboards with media keys. They just works no matter who is hardware developer, because they follow unified standardized rules.
No thanks, I don't want even more bloatware in Windows that I'll never use. Let people who like horrible LED gimmick use horrible proprietary software. It's a match made in hell.
Looking forward to that software video. I HATE Armoury Crate. It’s always running background processes and live services. It’s difficult to fully uninstall and leaves so much junk behind.
Armoury crate is so shit that it should be illegal to require it to run some stuff from Asus. I've had so many issues with it that I'll probably never buy anything from Asus again.
the only issue I had with AC is that it wouldnt install properly, once it did, the only thing was it wouldnt recognise my RAM for ARGB setting. The workaround was to use something like signalRGB, but yea, no troubles from then on.
Roman I don't know what phrase you would use in your native German to describe GPU-RGB control software but you certainly nailed it in English. "Shit" is about as accurate as you can get and thanks for being frank about an issue many TH-camrs dance around.
*HYPE* that you're going to do an investigative video on the shitty software these AIBs try to just shovel out and never fix. For me, MSI's Dragon Center broke after 1 reboot. Wouldn't open at all after, just uninstalled and never looked back. I own a MSI RTX 3090 Gaming X.
It's about time that someone actually starts investigating the software side of hardware (not only GPU's, BTW) because software is usually an "afterthought" with these companies and they don't really care if not everything works as it should.
I love the Aorus cards. I have the 3090 Xtreme. Same problem though the software sucks!! I can change the colors & the LCD screen, but it freezes the system. After a reboot it works fine, but I get Lag spikes every 6 seconds & it took me forever to figure out this software was the culprit. It's a shame they STILL can't get their software to work. So I have an amazing GPU with an LCD screen that I can't use. Awesome.
for my aorus master 3080ti I had to use nvidia's studio drivers to get the RGB Fusion software to recognize my card existing at all. Now RGB Fusion recognizes the card being there 99% of the time, but the software itself is laggy as hell and lacks a lot of customization options for the LCD screen- such as choosing what sensor data to display when using a custom image...can either choose to use a pre-loaded aorus image and then pick what sensor data to display, or use your own image and have to display all sensor data or no sensor data at all. Likewise, must keep the software running in the background to display live sensor data on the LCD screen, but as you said, leaving the software running causes my system (ryzen 3700X) to randomly lag out for 2-3s every 30m or so.
Thank you so much for talking about fan speeds, curves, noise levels, coil whine, and suggesting improvements for companies. Many GPUs' behavior is outside my noise tolerance, and I am really tired of buying Macs for lack of a suitably silent PC. I wanna game, dog gone it!
Went back to Gigabyte for my AM5 build after 5 years on an ASUS board. I was very excited as I’d used Gigabyte since my first builds in the late 2000s. It’s been an absolute nightmare. The board itself is incredible quality. Build quality is great and very well made. The UEFI BIOS was an absolute nightmare to get into and work around it. Absurdly unresponsive and kept reverting changes after restarts without clearing CMOS. I finally got it going after a few tries and decided to give up on the fan curve software built into the UEFI. I thought the desktop software would work better for it. I thought wrong. Gigabyte’s desktop software is even worse than their UEFI somehow. Fan curves never stuck and I had to close and reopen the software after first boot for the RGB and fan curves to start working. But worst of all, the built in update manager insists NORTON IS REQUIRED. You cannot reject the software, you can’t hide the “update”. Thank god it does not auto install. I uninstalled it and am living with the default rbg (which is basically non existent on the Elite AX board) and Fan Control for my fan curves. I love Gigabyte and their products but I might move away from them again until they can get themselves sorted out on the software side. It is unacceptable that for the price of AM5 boards and 40 series video cards that the software is so egregiously bad.
I almost thrown an ASUS TUF AM4 board into the trash when I upgraded my PC from 1st gen Ryzen to last on AM4. Bios settings didn't stick, PC didn't power down always. Sometimes after power down you couldn't start it back up without unplugging it. I was losing my mind, swapped the MB to a Gigabyte Aorus, everything turned perfect. Yeah, the fan curves are ridiculous and the RGB software too, but at least I can turn on and off my PC.....which seems to not be the norm nowadays....
@@dadwillfixit huh, I have an ROG Strix B650-A, and installing the OS didn't give me any problems. The only issue I had was my AIO preventing the system from booting to Windows 11 (I have a Liquid Freezer II on my Ryzen 7 7700X), because the board has fan headers for both the AIO pump and CPU fan. But because the Liquid Freezer II has a single connector, I simply had to turn on ignore CPU fan warnings and my PC turns on without any hiccups.
LOOL. Thanks for sharing your experience. I come pretty much from the same grounds as you. I've personally built systems on Gigabyte brand since the mid '00 , and been a loyal fan of theirs too. However what you've described!!! I've had the exact same problems on the RTX 2080 Gaming OC card, first the cooler was just a cheap flimsy plastic and there's nothing to hold the card onto when plugging it in besides that cooling shroud which came off immediately!!! and I had to glue it back... Also the coil whine!!! which is apparently the norm!? and you can't get rid of it as it's part of the specs!? also the drivers took several minutes to recognize and install!? I remember problems with their software too, but why I'm writing this message, is because I've had the exact same problem with temp. fun curve too. Where it would ramp up to max at certain temps, and then turn off, then ramp up and turn off etc in cycles. I tried to organize the fan curve fixing it in bios and in the software NOTHING had worked!!! So I ended up selling that card to an unfortunate buyer but for a good price for him, and buying a 1080 Ti (the best GPU purchase of my life). Since then I have an anxiety of buying a new GPU as I'm afraid to get all of those problems back again. And now that you've mention Gigabyte still having those exact same problems 3 Gens down the stack line , now I'm definitely going to skip this Gen too. Hopefully they can fix their sh. by the 5000 series? Also I seriously don't get how coil whine in our day and age is "just the norm" and you have to accept it??? I seriously don't get it... Why is my 1080 Ti has NO PROBLEMS AT ALL, no coil whine no nothing, everything works perfectly out of the box. The best GPU purchase of my life and I couldn't be happier with it... I wish I bought it at launch. Will not be upgrading till the next gen now.

Thank you for saying it loud! Yes, these hardware manufacturers make good hardware, but their software ALMOST always falls short. I really wish they resorted to more OpenSource solutions so that users could tailor the layouts and GUI themselves with the functions they need.
I can't say anything bad about gigabyte software. I'm using since ever and I had any problems, but it has to be used correctly. If you just installing everything out of the package don't expect miracles. I'm very satisfied with this brand.
I have a Gigabyte Aero 4080 Gigabyte’s RGB fusion software has literally crashed my computer three times. It will also lock the RGB on my Corsair RAM. A simple restart won’t reset it. I literally have to shut off my computer to get the RGB to work again. Luckily , I don’t tinker with my gpu rgb all that much so it’s not that big an issue for me but for these others guys and these AORUS masters, this must suck x10.
I have been struggling with the rgb software in general to the point where I refuse to install anything from the OEMs. Armoury crate literally ruined my PC. 10070k ROG Z490 would not shutdown 80% of the time, it would refuse to restart 80% of the time, all the lights would randomly unsync every couple of minutes or completely bug out, armoury crate would hang my pc and the problems persisted even after a clean install of windows. Finally gave up installed windows again and never touched armoury crate again, all the problems went away, as for the lights I use OpenRGB with a profile that loads at the start of the computer and it works perfectly.
Used now two Gigabyte gaming OC 4090s and agree that the default OC BIOS fan curve just seems silly - much like the default 4090 power target. Both cards exhibited basically zero coil whine as well, so it seems Gigabyte have done something well in this respect. But yes - their software has been atrocious for me too. I briefly installed their RGB fusion, just to switch off the lighting. It caused a BSOD, according to the dump file analysis. Not surprising to see that their Gigabyte Control Centre also doesn't pass muster.
I am very much impressed on the effort you put to your videos. I am new in Deutschland that is why I am still getting used to the Language. And since I am very much into computers I find your Videos very helpful not only because I am into Computers but also because it helps me learn new Vocabularies by wathcing on this channel and then switching to your main channel right after. It helps me a lot learning new words and Expressions. Especially with the Aussprache :) after my work at the Hospital I always watch your videos to learn the language and all about new things regarding computers and computer parts. I have a Gigabyte 3080ti and the Aorus software is really bad. We had similar software bak in the late 90's.. Well they were even better back then. But to be a well known company like Gigabyte and not invest in a few decent coders does not make sense.. Keep them honest rewievs coming! 👍🏼
On one hand, it's sad to see the issues with the new 4000 series of cards, though since I can't afford one right now anyway, somehow learning of these issues lessens the regret.
These cards are sexy, but way to chonkers! Maybe one day when I build a basic gaming machine where there aren't any extra PCIe lanes to worry about blocking I could get on board, but for now all new GPUs I touch are either gonna come with a waterblock pre-installed or AIO variants.
I got my 3080ti AORUS MASTER 1year and a half ago, and ive been using RGB fusion for it(to edit the panel screen and the rgb) and when it comes to changing the LCD screen picture sometimes can be a nightmare have to reupload multiple times/restart pc because GPU can randomly dissapear from the software. other than that a great GPU havent had any issues with it so far. Glad to see these kind of review!!!
Have the same card and rgb fusion left 3 drives unusable and my lcd still does nothing but custom gif mode. Nothing else works. I was the only owner of the card and they refused to rma it and it was still within warranty.
In a previous video you were wondering why they decided to go with that bigger cooler for the 4090, if just reducing the power limit would work with minimal FPS loss. And here it is... the 4080, with lower power limit.. and still the same huge cooler!! OMG!!! 🤦♂ Great videos! Thanks for your work!
Would be interested to see more info concerning the "Resizable Bar" setting: enabled vs. disabled. As far as GPU software: Sapphire's latest version 8.7.0 "TriXX" software fails to identify it's own Sapphire AMD Vega 56 GPU. The previous version 8.6.0 did recognize the GPU. So: version 8.7.0 has been broken for several months now.
I have a X570 Gigabyte Master mobo and a 3080 Gigabyte Master, and the RGB Fusion software doesn’t work correctly. It’s clunky. I’ve reinstalled the software, completely plugged/unplugged the GPU and PSU…it just doesn’t detect the GPU or RAM consistently. Never fails to act goofy. Always something funky happening with RGB Fusion. I even bought a Gigabyte B550 Pro mobo for my dad’s computer and I had problems with the RGB Fusion there too. I’m scared to buy any Gigabyte gear for my twin niece’s builds. You mentioned you’re gonna do a video/survey about what manufacturer suck(s)at software and grade them…I’m super stoked for this type of video. For my niece’s builds I’m gonna take a chance on ASUS. We’ll see how that turns out.
Gigabyte products have some really weird quirks. My Z170 board I bought year ago had USB-C and I was able to quick charge my phone. The Aorus Master Z390 board I got has USB-C, but won't allow the higher amperage charging at all. It would work with the Gigabyte 2080 that I bought at that time, but not the motherboard. Then, trying to get some customer support was a nightmare and ended up sending me the same pdf files from their site. I haven't upgraded my computer since before 2020, but when I do Gigabyte will not be purchased.
I own the Gaming OC version and one of the issues with the RGB fans is it only activates when it's on. The GPU runs so cool that the fans rarely need to spin.
As the owner of a 4090 aurus, I confirm. Сontrol center is as glitchy as possible. I can always make a profile in Afterburner and adjust it as delicately as I want. I'm happy with the card in general. But I only wish I could change the display settings.
They should make all RGB a standard which can be controlled by any software with the ability to add new like add a Lua file of sort. So tired of them all making something different to get the same result.
Kudos for calling out shitty software. Somebody like you has to do it. P.S. I don't care in the slightest about RGB; I agree though that if that display is a special feature of the card, it should indeed be properly supported from day 1. Maybe OpenRGB can work for RGB and things like this display (if its API is available). I can highly recommend FanControl in the place of any motherboard or GPU bundled fan control. The only thing that's missing to complete the picture is overclocking - maybe you could just temporarily run Precision or Afterburner to find the clocks you want, then flash a modified BIOS with said clocks, then ditch the software.
I have an Asus GPU, Msi mobo, Corsair AIO and case lighting strips, Phantek case and Kingston ram, I use signaRGB and it controls everything perfectly once you set your layout correctly, seems to impact the cpu's performance the least as well. Out of all the software's, icue was the worse losing over 1200 points in cinebench when its running, signaRGB seem to be under 500 points.
Hope they make the Aorus Master for the AMD cards as well... I just really like the styling of gigabyte compared to others... Will be upgrading next year around spring/summer and an all Aorus Master setup would look nice. Just depends on what's out at that time and the pricing. A little extra 'branding tax' i can take, just depends on how much... :)

I've jumped on the Aorus Master 4080 and I've tried to tame it a bit with custom fan curve but even if I set the exact Fan Curve from this video and all the settings are the same the fans just ramp on and off, from zero to loud and to jet engine loud, I mean there are fan speed spikes from time to time... I've seen this behaviour in another review but the reviewer said the problem it's in the Silent Bios mode... mine it's the same in any mode... At this point I don't know if there it's any point in fighting the issue or returning the card.... Did you encounter this behaviour at idle or very light load?
im pretty happy with my aorus. I had the luxury of choosing between the windforce, zotac, verto epic-x and this card. Ultimately the performance difference is negligible but the prices were not. Aorus sits firmly in the middle of pricing, its performance is great, temps sit at 28 degrees F, 32 while gaming, hardly any noticiable noise over my 3090 strix and its a good looking card inside of my case. The software is ass, but it is what it is.
The only RGB software that I've used that doesn't absolutely infuriate me is Corsair iCUE and Signal RGB. The best setup I've come up with is a Commander Core XT with all of my RGB parts switched to the Corsair connectors that I got from ModDIY. This allows me to control everything in my system with iCUE even though most of it is not Corsair parts and eliminated the terrible ARGB connectors. I just avoid RGB memory to avoid dealing with the terrible software that is required for most motherboard RGB control.
I got the 3080Ti Master solely for the looks and the screen on the side, and their software doesn't even recognize my card. So my case, fans, motherboard, and even my keyboard are all the same color thanks to ASUS Aura; but my GPU is stuck in rainbow mode and I can't change the display to show temps like I wanted. The card runs perfectly, but the fact I can't change the looks of it are really annoying. I've been thinking of trying SignalRGB to control all the lights in my PC, but that still leaves the screen that I can't change
I hear your pain. I had all sorts of trouble with RGB control on my Z490 'board. That said, I downloaded RGB Fusion 2 from the Gigabyte 'site (Gigabyte > Z490 > Aorus > Master > Support) and touch wood (he says, touching his head!) I've had no problems. Maybe the RGB Fusion 2 iteration for your 'board may work better? 👍🙏🏾
Talking about software for some reason RGB fusion was causing my mic issues and I have no idea why. When I plugged in my controller my mic stopped working in windows and at the same time the rgb on the ram lit up. So I decided to uninstall the software to see if it made a difference and it fixed. How on earth is an rgb software causing me mic issues? Lmao, anyways using signal rgb now and it’s much better
They had the same exact problems on the 30 series cards as well. I had both a 3070 and 3080 aorus master, and when i could finally get the software to work properly, it would forget everything the next day. Super annoying and like you said its the main point of the card. After multiple generations youd expect them to fix it. I switched to asus and the rgb software works fine.
I got my ROG Strix 4080 OC since yesterday and tried to replicate your coil whine finding. I tried it all till Ultra settings but this thing is even quieter then my previous 2080TI. It doesn’t pull even 500W on a 1200 PSU while my 13900 K doesn’t go above 60 degrees. Verdict : I ❤ MY ROG STRIX 4080 OC 😁
GigaByte's software has long-been absolutely atrocious. And not _just_ GB, but basically every mainboard & GPU partner brand. If these companies would hire first-party software engineers, instead of outsourcing their code work to the lowest bidder, maybe all of their software wouldn't be such total horseshit.
@der8auer EN 10:40 Suggestion: Can these Coil Whine test be done on 60FPS - 500FPS - 1000FPS? That would be a clear indication of what the idle Coil Whine would be and the Max.
A couple of questions Roman. Are you surprised at the size of the cooler of the AIB 4080's given their much lower TDP? Why do you think Nvidia chose to use, what looks like the same cooler as the 4090?
@@Ziegeri Probably just that, especially with these early cards which the AIBs probably expect very little profit margin on. I think we might see more optimized 4080s coming later if the 4080 line is popular, especially once the AIBs can sell cards above MSRP without complaints from Nvidia. All in all though the 4080 line so far is pretty underwhelming, and not just in the ways we always knew it was going to be with the differences between AD102 and AD103, but also because almost all AIBs appear to just not give a shit about making sensible 4080 cards. The 4080 is overpriced and underwhelming in every way.
Gigabyte had the same issue with their Waterforce X 240 AIO. It was over a year after release before you could change any of the default settings on the LCD display.
I use RGBFusion with my Aorus Master RTX 4090 - If I do an all sync on all my Aorus devices - Motherboard, Keyboard, Monitor, Strip lights, Mouse, headset (don't have their RAM), the GPU will also sync with it.
I gave up trying to use Gigabytes any software back when I got my Z77 motherboard 10 years ago. It was consistently shit across my upgrades throughout the years. BIOS is also gimped on most models unless you pay for the expensive motherboards, meanwhile if you crossflash the bios, you get the features.
Aorus Master software for the 3070 kinda works. What would be amazing is all rgb software could change a product to the settings I want and save it to the product so I never needed to launch the software again.
I also think cooling performance is combination of thin fans with increased fins density. Software and factory fan curve only makes things worse. At least it does look nice but that's subjective. Coil whine doesn't matter with loud cards if you don't plan to put waterblock on it.
Sir, this is totally out of context of the video but recently I built my pc and to my surprise, I felt a constant and uncomfortable high current from the top of EKWB fullmetal velocity waterblock. Is it normal or something is wrong? I have double checked my home earthing using a multimeter (earth to live gives 220v and earth to neutral gives 0v) and even swapped out the power supply (thermaltake with corsair). My rig - Ryzen 7900x, Asus TUF x670e Wifi motherboard). Please help me out. Thanks in advance.
If one reduces the power manually, does one have to tinker with the voltage settings (besides reducing the fan speed for "quieter" performance)? I know that voltage represents power, but I'm not at all experienced with voltage and power settings for GPUs...! So, this may be a dumb question...sorry!!
All RGB devices should have some 4pin connector standard that you can hook up to a hub. This way you can get any hub you want control via a phone app, remote or any software you wish. None of this you need a program from multiple vendor nonsense. My latest system i dropped RGB all together to avoid the mess of bloated software.
I would not buy a 4080 but if I had to, I like how the master looks.

updated the firmware on my rtx 4080 to f1.6 and the update failed and left the LCD bricked. apparently a common issue among other users on reddit with no solution in sight. absolutely staying as far as i can from gigabyte from here on out.
This makes me nervous now lol. Have had a Gigabyte GPU and motherboard for 4 years and never had any issues lol. Everything from RGB Fusion to BIOS updates worked just fine. Maybe I was lucky
On my gigabyte 2070 software suite i had a 'taskkill.exe' in the software map wich sometimes was causing games to just close down, was a bitch to figure out what was causing it. After that i never touched that software again and just run afterburner for my card.

the only issue I had with AC is that it wouldnt install properly, once it did, the only thing was it wouldnt recognise my RAM for ARGB setting. The workaround was to use something like signalRGB, but yea, no troubles from then on.
I actually like the app, the background processes doesn't bother me at all.

For me, MSI's Dragon Center broke after 1 reboot. Wouldn't open at all after, just uninstalled and never looked back. I own a MSI RTX 3090 Gaming X.
It's about time that someone actually starts investigating the software side of hardware (not only GPU's, BTW) because software is usually an "afterthought" with these companies and they don't really care if not everything works as it should.

I can change the colors & the LCD screen, but it freezes the system.
After a reboot it works fine, but I get Lag spikes every 6 seconds & it took me forever to figure out this software was the culprit.
It's a shame they STILL can't get their software to work. So I have an amazing GPU with an LCD screen that I can't use. Awesome.
for my aorus master 3080ti I had to use nvidia's studio drivers to get the RGB Fusion software to recognize my card existing at all. Now RGB Fusion recognizes the card being there 99% of the time, but the software itself is laggy as hell and lacks a lot of customization options for the LCD screen- such as choosing what sensor data to display when using a custom image...can either choose to use a pre-loaded aorus image and then pick what sensor data to display, or use your own image and have to display all sensor data or no sensor data at all.
Likewise, must keep the software running in the background to display live sensor data on the LCD screen, but as you said, leaving the software running causes my system (ryzen 3700X) to randomly lag out for 2-3s every 30m or so.
Thank you so much for talking about fan speeds, curves, noise levels, coil whine, and suggesting improvements for companies. Many GPUs' behavior is outside my noise tolerance, and I am really tired of buying Macs for lack of a suitably silent PC. I wanna game, dog gone it!
Went back to Gigabyte for my AM5 build after 5 years on an ASUS board. I was very excited as I’d used Gigabyte since my first builds in the late 2000s.
It’s been an absolute nightmare. The board itself is incredible quality. Build quality is great and very well made.
The UEFI BIOS was an absolute nightmare to get into and work around it. Absurdly unresponsive and kept reverting changes after restarts without clearing CMOS. I finally got it going after a few tries and decided to give up on the fan curve software built into the UEFI. I thought the desktop software would work better for it.
I thought wrong. Gigabyte’s desktop software is even worse than their UEFI somehow. Fan curves never stuck and I had to close and reopen the software after first boot for the RGB and fan curves to start working. But worst of all, the built in update manager insists NORTON IS REQUIRED. You cannot reject the software, you can’t hide the “update”. Thank god it does not auto install. I uninstalled it and am living with the default rbg (which is basically non existent on the Elite AX board) and Fan Control for my fan curves.
I love Gigabyte and their products but I might move away from them again until they can get themselves sorted out on the software side. It is unacceptable that for the price of AM5 boards and 40 series video cards that the software is so egregiously bad.
I almost thrown an ASUS TUF AM4 board into the trash when I upgraded my PC from 1st gen Ryzen to last on AM4. Bios settings didn't stick, PC didn't power down always. Sometimes after power down you couldn't start it back up without unplugging it. I was losing my mind, swapped the MB to a Gigabyte Aorus, everything turned perfect. Yeah, the fan curves are ridiculous and the RGB software too, but at least I can turn on and off my PC.....which seems to not be the norm nowadays....
@@dadwillfixit huh, I have an ROG Strix B650-A, and installing the OS didn't give me any problems. The only issue I had was my AIO preventing the system from booting to Windows 11 (I have a Liquid Freezer II on my Ryzen 7 7700X), because the board has fan headers for both the AIO pump and CPU fan. But because the Liquid Freezer II has a single connector, I simply had to turn on ignore CPU fan warnings and my PC turns on without any hiccups.

However what you've described!!! I've had the exact same problems on the RTX 2080 Gaming OC card, first the cooler was just a cheap flimsy plastic and there's nothing to hold the card onto when plugging it in besides that cooling shroud which came off immediately!!! and I had to glue it back... Also the coil whine!!! which is apparently the norm!? and you can't get rid of it as it's part of the specs!? also the drivers took several minutes to recognize and install!? I remember problems with their software too, but why I'm writing this message, is because I've had the exact same problem with temp. fun curve too. Where it would ramp up to max at certain temps, and then turn off, then ramp up and turn off etc in cycles. I tried to organize the fan curve fixing it in bios and in the software NOTHING had worked!!! So I ended up selling that card to an unfortunate buyer but for a good price for him, and buying a 1080 Ti (the best GPU purchase of my life). Since then I have an anxiety of buying a new GPU as I'm afraid to get all of those problems back again. And now that you've mention Gigabyte still having those exact same problems 3 Gens down the stack line , now I'm definitely going to skip this Gen too. Hopefully they can fix their sh. by the 5000 series? Also I seriously don't get how coil whine in our day and age is "just the norm" and you have to accept it??? I seriously don't get it... Why is my 1080 Ti has NO PROBLEMS AT ALL, no coil whine no nothing, everything works perfectly out of the box. The best GPU purchase of my life and I couldn't be happier with it... I wish I bought it at launch. Will not be upgrading till the next gen now.

I can't say anything bad about gigabyte software. I'm using since ever and I had any problems, but it has to be used correctly. If you just installing everything out of the package don't expect miracles. I'm very satisfied with this brand.

I have a Gigabyte Aero 4080 Gigabyte’s RGB fusion software has literally crashed my computer three times. It will also lock the RGB on my Corsair RAM. A simple restart won’t reset it. I literally have to shut off my computer to get the RGB to work again. Luckily , I don’t tinker with my gpu rgb all that much so it’s not that big an issue for me but for these others guys and these AORUS masters, this must suck x10.
I have been struggling with the rgb software in general to the point where I refuse to install anything from the OEMs. Armoury crate literally ruined my PC. 10070k ROG Z490 would not shutdown 80% of the time, it would refuse to restart 80% of the time, all the lights would randomly unsync every couple of minutes or completely bug out, armoury crate would hang my pc and the problems persisted even after a clean install of windows. Finally gave up installed windows again and never touched armoury crate again, all the problems went away, as for the lights I use OpenRGB with a profile that loads at the start of the computer and it works perfectly.
Used now two Gigabyte gaming OC 4090s and agree that the default OC BIOS fan curve just seems silly - much like the default 4090 power target. Both cards exhibited basically zero coil whine as well, so it seems Gigabyte have done something well in this respect.
But yes - their software has been atrocious for me too. I briefly installed their RGB fusion, just to switch off the lighting. It caused a BSOD, according to the dump file analysis. Not surprising to see that their Gigabyte Control Centre also doesn't pass muster.

No coil whine is the most important . MSI AB custom fan curve is easy to set ,so no need to worry.
He knows that, but he need to test out of the box because he know only stupid people will buy this card and it need to work well out of the box.

I have a Gigabyte 3080ti and the Aorus software is really bad. We had similar software bak in the late 90's.. Well they were even better back then. But to be a well known company like Gigabyte and not invest in a few decent coders does not make sense.. Keep them honest rewievs coming! 👍🏼

On one hand, it's sad to see the issues with the new 4000 series of cards, though since I can't afford one right now anyway, somehow learning of these issues lessens the regret.
4080 series hasn't had issues. It's only 4090 with that insane power.

Maybe one day when I build a basic gaming machine where there aren't any extra PCIe lanes to worry about blocking I could get on board, but for now all new GPUs I touch are either gonna come with a waterblock pre-installed or AIO variants.
I got my 3080ti AORUS MASTER 1year and a half ago, and ive been using RGB fusion for it(to edit the panel screen and the rgb) and when it comes to changing the LCD screen picture sometimes can be a nightmare have to reupload multiple times/restart pc because GPU can randomly dissapear from the software. other than that a great GPU havent had any issues with it so far. Glad to see these kind of review!!!
Have the same card and rgb fusion left 3 drives unusable and my lcd still does nothing but custom gif mode. Nothing else works. I was the only owner of the card and they refused to rma it and it was still within warranty.
In a previous video you were wondering why they decided to go with that bigger cooler for the 4090, if just reducing the power limit would work with minimal FPS loss.
And here it is... the 4080, with lower power limit.. and still the same huge cooler!! OMG!!!

Would be interested to see more info concerning the "Resizable Bar" setting: enabled vs. disabled. As far as GPU software: Sapphire's latest version 8.7.0 "TriXX" software fails to identify it's own Sapphire AMD Vega 56 GPU. The previous version 8.6.0 did recognize the GPU. So: version 8.7.0 has been broken for several months now.
I have a X570 Gigabyte Master mobo and a 3080 Gigabyte Master, and the RGB Fusion software doesn’t work correctly. It’s clunky. I’ve reinstalled the software, completely plugged/unplugged the GPU and PSU…it just doesn’t detect the GPU or RAM consistently. Never fails to act goofy. Always something funky happening with RGB Fusion. I even bought a Gigabyte B550 Pro mobo for my dad’s computer and I had problems with the RGB Fusion there too. I’m scared to buy any Gigabyte gear for my twin niece’s builds. You mentioned you’re gonna do a video/survey about what manufacturer suck(s)at software and grade them…I’m super stoked for this type of video. For my niece’s builds I’m gonna take a chance on ASUS. We’ll see how that turns out.

Gigabyte products have some really weird quirks. My Z170 board I bought year ago had USB-C and I was able to quick charge my phone. The Aorus Master Z390 board I got has USB-C, but won't allow the higher amperage charging at all. It would work with the Gigabyte 2080 that I bought at that time, but not the motherboard. Then, trying to get some customer support was a nightmare and ended up sending me the same pdf files from their site. I haven't upgraded my computer since before 2020, but when I do Gigabyte will not be purchased.
I have the Aorus Master RTX 4090 - no complaints with it so far.
I also have the Aorus Master RTX 3080 Ti on my other PC :)

I own the Gaming OC version and one of the issues with the RGB fans is it only activates when it's on. The GPU runs so cool that the fans rarely need to spin.
The only RGB "software" I've used is setting a static RGB value in my ASRock X570 ITX BIOS. No need for extra software in Windows which is nice.
not even my z690 aorus master does that. all I want is to set rgb in bios and set fan curves based on a max value of 2 sensors (gpu and cpu).
As the owner of a 4090 aurus, I confirm. Сontrol center is as glitchy as possible. I can always make a profile in Afterburner and adjust it as delicately as I want. I'm happy with the card in general. But I only wish I could change the display settings.
They should make all RGB a standard which can be controlled by any software with the ability to add new like add a Lua file of sort.
So tired of them all making something different to get the same result.

P.S. I don't care in the slightest about RGB; I agree though that if that display is a special feature of the card, it should indeed be properly supported from day 1. Maybe OpenRGB can work for RGB and things like this display (if its API is available).
I can highly recommend FanControl in the place of any motherboard or GPU bundled fan control.
The only thing that's missing to complete the picture is overclocking - maybe you could just temporarily run Precision or Afterburner to find the clocks you want, then flash a modified BIOS with said clocks, then ditch the software.
I have an Asus GPU, Msi mobo, Corsair AIO and case lighting strips, Phantek case and Kingston ram, I use signaRGB and it controls everything perfectly once you set your layout correctly, seems to impact the cpu's performance the least as well.
Out of all the software's, icue was the worse losing over 1200 points in cinebench when its running, signaRGB seem to be under 500 points.
Hope they make the Aorus Master for the AMD cards as well... I just really like the styling of gigabyte compared to others... Will be upgrading next year around spring/summer and an all Aorus Master setup would look nice. Just depends on what's out at that time and the pricing. A little extra 'branding tax' i can take, just depends on how much... :)

I've jumped on the Aorus Master 4080 and I've tried to tame it a bit with custom fan curve but even if I set the exact Fan Curve from this video and all the settings are the same the fans just ramp on and off, from zero to loud and to jet engine loud, I mean there are fan speed spikes from time to time...
I've seen this behaviour in another review but the reviewer said the problem it's in the Silent Bios mode... mine it's the same in any mode...
At this point I don't know if there it's any point in fighting the issue or returning the card....
Did you encounter this behaviour at idle or very light load?

im pretty happy with my aorus. I had the luxury of choosing between the windforce, zotac, verto epic-x and this card. Ultimately the performance difference is negligible but the prices were not. Aorus sits firmly in the middle of pricing, its performance is great, temps sit at 28 degrees F, 32 while gaming, hardly any noticiable noise over my 3090 strix and its a good looking card inside of my case. The software is ass, but it is what it is.
The only RGB software that I've used that doesn't absolutely infuriate me is Corsair iCUE and Signal RGB. The best setup I've come up with is a Commander Core XT with all of my RGB parts switched to the Corsair connectors that I got from ModDIY. This allows me to control everything in my system with iCUE even though most of it is not Corsair parts and eliminated the terrible ARGB connectors. I just avoid RGB memory to avoid dealing with the terrible software that is required for most motherboard RGB control.

I got the 3080Ti Master solely for the looks and the screen on the side, and their software doesn't even recognize my card. So my case, fans, motherboard, and even my keyboard are all the same color thanks to ASUS Aura; but my GPU is stuck in rainbow mode and I can't change the display to show temps like I wanted. The card runs perfectly, but the fact I can't change the looks of it are really annoying. I've been thinking of trying SignalRGB to control all the lights in my PC, but that still leaves the screen that I can't change
I hear your pain. I had all sorts of trouble with RGB control on my Z490 'board. That said, I downloaded RGB Fusion 2 from the Gigabyte 'site (Gigabyte > Z490 > Aorus > Master > Support) and touch wood (he says, touching his head!) I've had no problems. Maybe the RGB Fusion 2 iteration for your 'board may work better? 👍🙏🏾
Talking about software for some reason RGB fusion was causing my mic issues and I have no idea why. When I plugged in my controller my mic stopped working in windows and at the same time the rgb on the ram lit up. So I decided to uninstall the software to see if it made a difference and it fixed.

They had the same exact problems on the 30 series cards as well. I had both a 3070 and 3080 aorus master, and when i could finally get the software to work properly, it would forget everything the next day. Super annoying and like you said its the main point of the card. After multiple generations youd expect them to fix it. I switched to asus and the rgb software works fine.
I got my ROG Strix 4080 OC since yesterday and tried to replicate your coil whine finding. I tried it all till Ultra settings but this thing is even quieter then my previous 2080TI. It doesn’t pull even 500W on a 1200 PSU while my 13900 K doesn’t go above 60 degrees. Verdict : I ❤ MY ROG STRIX 4080 OC 😁

GigaByte's software has long-been absolutely atrocious. And not _just_ GB, but basically every mainboard & GPU partner brand.

A couple of questions Roman. Are you surprised at the size of the cooler of the AIB 4080's given their much lower TDP? Why do you think Nvidia chose to use, what looks like the same cooler as the 4090?
Maybe it is just cheaper to not have to design and manufacture 2 different coolers.
@@Ziegeri Probably just that, especially with these early cards which the AIBs probably expect very little profit margin on.
I think we might see more optimized 4080s coming later if the 4080 line is popular, especially once the AIBs can sell cards above MSRP without complaints from Nvidia.
All in all though the 4080 line so far is pretty underwhelming, and not just in the ways we always knew it was going to be with the differences between AD102 and AD103, but also because almost all AIBs appear to just not give a shit about making sensible 4080 cards.
The 4080 is overpriced and underwhelming in every way.

They used 13 heat heat pipes on the 4080 Master with the dense fins. You could easily turn the fans lower.
Gigabyte had the same issue with their Waterforce X 240 AIO. It was over a year after release before you could change any of the default settings on the LCD display.
I use RGBFusion with my Aorus Master RTX 4090 - If I do an all sync on all my Aorus devices - Motherboard, Keyboard, Monitor, Strip lights, Mouse, headset (don't have their RAM), the GPU will also sync with it.
I gave up trying to use Gigabytes any software back when I got my Z77 motherboard 10 years ago. It was consistently shit across my upgrades throughout the years. BIOS is also gimped on most models unless you pay for the expensive motherboards, meanwhile if you crossflash the bios, you get the features.
Aorus Master software for the 3070 kinda works. What would be amazing is all rgb software could change a product to the settings I want and save it to the product so I never needed to launch the software again.
Good ol' Gigabyte: their warranty process sucks, and so does their software. Nothing like paying a premium for no reason

Sir, this is totally out of context of the video but recently I built my pc and to my surprise, I felt a constant and uncomfortable high current from the top of EKWB fullmetal velocity waterblock. Is it normal or something is wrong? I have double checked my home earthing using a multimeter (earth to live gives 220v and earth to neutral gives 0v) and even swapped out the power supply (thermaltake with corsair). My rig - Ryzen 7900x, Asus TUF x670e Wifi motherboard). Please help me out. Thanks in advance.

I know that voltage represents power, but I'm not at all experienced with voltage and power settings for GPUs...! So, this may be a dumb question...sorry!!
All RGB devices should have some 4pin connector standard that you can hook up to a hub. This way you can get any hub you want control via a phone app, remote or any software you wish. None of this you need a program from multiple vendor nonsense. My latest system i dropped RGB all together to avoid the mess of bloated software.
I would not buy a 4080 but if I had to, I like how the master looks.

updated the firmware on my rtx 4080 to f1.6 and the update failed and left the LCD bricked. apparently a common issue among other users on reddit with no solution in sight. absolutely staying as far as i can from gigabyte from here on out.

On my gigabyte 2070 software suite i had a 'taskkill.exe' in the software map wich sometimes was causing games to just close down, was a bitch to figure out what was causing it.
After that i never touched that software again and just run afterburner for my card.
In that case don't you think so MSI RTX 4080 SUPRIM X is the best quality card of all the flagships?
