    YES!!! 👍 When I began covering my head it was just a simple conviction that I felt strongly to obey after reading 1 Corinthians 11 one morning. I thought it would be a simple change in my life. I thought it would simply tell others whom I love, submit to, and serve in an outward way. I had NO clue that this simple obedience would completely change my heart, my home, and the trajectory of my life! Once I showed God that I would cast off my pride and my vanity to obey Him, He opened the flood gates of spiritual blessings. He has given me opportunities to discover my gifts and to use them to serve Him and others in ways I could not have even imagined before. My marriage is 1000x stronger, my husband has risen to the challenge in such a beautiful way, and my children are falling into place right behind us. Small obedience can spell big blessings. Now I know that nothing is too small or insignificant for God to use. Thank you so much for sharing this message with us women!! This world desperately needs more women of conviction and faith. Love you Sister! You are salt & light! ❤

      Think of headcovering as a crown for a daughter of the King of the Universe, a physical symbol of a spiritual protection. The headcovering is also an accountability tool, just like my beard (Leviticus 19:27) and the tassels of Numbers 15:38-40 and Deuteronomy 22:12. The tassels/tzitzyot were life changing for me in taking thoughts captive better. Headcovering is also about reclaiming lady hood in this Jezebel culture.

    I have never understood why, in the mennonite faith, you cover your head at all times. When you explained that the bible directs you to pray without ceasing, and it does, then you believe that you should have your head covered at all times. Now I understand why you do this and it makes total sense. In our church our practice is to cover you head during worship service. We don't cover our heads for our mid-week bible study meeting because it is not worship service. You do a great job explaining things where everyone can understand this very complicated subject. When you explain submission in the husband/wife relationship it is so beautiful. After 52 years of being blessed to have a god filled marriage listening to you makes me cry. My husband has been such a devoted husband and father. It doesn't bother me at all to say "whatever you think is best". I find myself constantly saying "what should I do in this or that situation". My greatest joy is telling someone what a wonderful husband I have and what a wonderful father he has been. I just love you more when you present a video to us like this one.

It is amazing to have a testimony of any sort, whether you are Christian, Pagan whatever religion you are. Which very clearly means, we probably don't have the same viewpoints, however, that doesn't mean I am going to quit watching. Why should I? Oh our religions don't match? Both of our faiths tell us that we are to be respectful of each other. It always floors me the people that just leave because oh, my viewpoint, religious viewpoint doesn't match up with said youtuber, or person. That is not how life should be. Just because I live my life differently, doesn't mean I expect everyone to have that same viewpoint. Its a great big world, and not everyone is going to believe the same way at all.

    Thank you so much for sharing this. I loved this. Very beautifully put. Your gentleness shines through. I felt called to cover a few years ago and have found so much joy, peace and comfor in it. And I feel way less attacked by the enemy. My mind is way more calm and at peace since covering. I'm assuming it has to do with the section about our covered heads being a symbol of us being under authority to angles in 1 Cor 11:10?
    Covering has really helped me to humble myself, especially in a world of looks and outward appearances meaning so much, which sadly is even in the church. We are called to be set apart, different, unusual, spotless, and blamelesss, not look and act like the world around us. I was called out publicly for it in church from the pulpit which was so embarrassing, but I didn't let it get to me too much becuase people have been taught differently. And yes, when God called me to cover, I struggled with the feminismic attitude of not wanting to humble myself under my husband. I grew up in the church and had never known anyone to cover and never heard teaching on it, so I can see how people simply don't understand it. Yes I agree, in my research I studied 1 Cor 11 for months and months. Especailly looking into the meanings in Greek.
    The word for covering in 1 Corthians 11:4, 5,6,7, 13, is the word, katakalýptō, from katá, "down, and kalýptō, "to cover"-cover down, to make appropriate (complete), i.e. to wear a veil.
    It is the same root word used for the veil that separated the Holy of holies from the priests. It is clearly taking about a peice of fabric.(Matt 27:51)
    The same word is used in 2 Cor 3:13. "not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end."
    But vrs 15 does NOT use the same word for covering. Vrs 15. "but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering."
    This is a different word for "cover"= "peribolaion," that which is thrown around or a mantel that can be thrown around (As in when a women tosses or throws her hair around, or a mantel that rest on the shoulders and drapes around the body. So hair is considered long if it goes past her shoulders to cover her body). tossing the hair can be very alluring to men.
    This is where we get the saying, "Let your hair down."
    Up until only the last generation woman covered in Church. It was only during the sexual revolution that Chriatin women in North America stopped covering their heads. ALL of our grandmothers would have covered in church. This is why the Hutterites, Mennonites, Amish, orthodox churches, and messiniac Jews (Jews who beleive in Jesus), a lot of African congratations, etc still cover their hair.
    Also, if hair is the covering, what does that mean for a man? Should he always have his head shaved bald? Or can he put on and take off his hair? No of course not. That makes no sense.
    Godly biblical submission is a good thing and a blessing, I totally agree. We are to imitate Christ, and He was submissive unto God's will, even unto death.
    Paul also says that the veil or covering is a symbol to who, the angels? Why, because angles can't read our hearts and minds but they can see a headcovering and it shows that we are.gollowong God's ordainer order, which Satan did not submit to.
    We are not supposed to be like the world. Thank you so much for sharing.

    I am thrilled to hear someone else with exactly the same thoughts and feelings as me on every point made in this video. I am the only one in my church that wears a head covering, not that I would judge them and they don't judge me, we are very caring and respectful of one another, it is beautiful that my Christian brothers and sisters accept me as I am and we value each others differing opinions on the subject of submission as well as other things. Like you have said in another video God's word is controversial. Thank you for such wonderfully explained content.

    I’ve been watching Mennonite youtubers for about 6 months out of curiosity at first, and then because I appreciate the clean christian influence it’s been having in my life. I am a young, liberal Muslim convert, as I found this message to be the one that describes my life and values the best. Nevertheless, us as Christians and Muslims do believe in the same God and thus I agree with many of the things you said and found a lot of myself in there. The interpretation of a woman's place in life has been a huge problem in Islamic tradition as well and I hope many more people of different faiths watched your video. I absolutely loved how you handled the topics of head covering, submission & Godly order. The Spirit was certainly speaking through you with such love & humility. Our church, the Apostolic Christian Church of America, also practices wearing of the head covering by the converted women. You did an awesome job of explaining the Bible verses pertaining to this subject. You also did a great job in discussing Godly submission of wives to their husbands, and the husband's love & respect for his wife. Today's society does not want to hear about Godly submission. Their eyes are blinded & their hearts are hardened with pride. I enjoy all of your videos. You speak with such love for the Lord & for your family. Keep the videos coming! May God richly bless you!

    I have learned over the years that when people ask questions about why I dress the way I do my reply to them Is that It’s because I follow and believe in the scriptures concerning modesty in the Bible. Then I state “but what’s more important is salvation and what God did for us so we can be filled with his spirit.” My reasoning for doing this is because the Bible talks about how the carnal man doesn’t understand spiritual things but when a person turns his life over to God and is filled with his spirit they will do it because they have a changed heart and love God. I’m thankful for christians who live for God and are not intimidated by worldly views. Thank you for your video !!!

I agree with everything you said so well, but I would add that for those women that have difficult husbands and for all us wives when it’s hard to be submissive that little phrase Eph 5:22 “...as unto the Lord”, is so very helpful! Not my will but His be done, to please my Lord who submitted to so much to save His people. God bless you and your little family.

  • @shannonch1278

    Loved this video, as a Christian, it is easy to submit yourself spiritually to someone who loves you more than themselves. Husbands have a great responsibility, biblically to put his wife above himself. In contrast as a wife we are to be a help to our husbands. When practiced biblically, it is a beautiful team who always have each other's back. Love in Christ is so much more fulfilling than, the way the world teaches. Christ's love is not based on feelings or emotions but rather devotion and practice. Lust can fade and feelings change but a love founded on respect, deeds, and unconditional feelings is life long and doesn't fade.

My husband, a former Mennonite pastor, says that if a husband lives and follows God’s word and treats his wife as he should, his wife will not have a problem submitting, however, there should be mutual submission. I’ve felt convicted to wear a head covering as a God fearing Christian woman. Some people joke about me or talk about it. My boss didn’t question it, my manager said no at first and that he’d check. After that it was smooth sailing. My work ethic and heart were what was seen instead of my appearance. Christian woman aren’t to be like other women but set apart for Christ. After a while people treated me like a normal person and have been good to me. God protects his own and to love Christ is the best gift of all and the Holy Spirit isn’t to be made a mockery of if he tells us what to do, we do it. Some things are harder than others to fix if you grew up in the world. But every chance towards being completely submissive to God has bettered my life. God bless you and your family sister. ❤

I understand why Mennonite women believe in wearing a head covering. I think the part that is slightly confusing to me is why Mennonite women don’t cover their whole head. Maybe in a future video you may be able to clarify?? A lot of women you can’t tell unless they turn their head that they have a piece of cloth back there. Either way, I really am happy that you were able to dissect these scriptures a little for your viewers. It couldn’t have been an easy video to make. ❤️🙏🏼

      I think that way of head covering is cultural and unique to anabaptists but I'm open to correction. Many Orthodox Christians and Christians living in the Middle East wear head coverings either in church only or always, and they have their own regional variations in how they cover.

    • @theMennoniteMom
      @theMennoniteMom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it's more of a cultural thing but a valid question and one I should ask myself. Is our culture obedient to this passage? One quick explanation, beside culture etc... we believe that long hair is a woman's glory, so that gets worn up and majority covered. Also we view it as a symbol, a religious symbol... because when one goes down this road of legalism where would you stop? Are we required to cover the entire head and face? Maybe? I believe it's the concept and symbolism that's important as anyone that looks at me knows it's likely religious (Jewish men wear small caps to 'cover but neither is it completely covering.) It's a religious practice. However I'm open to be corrected as I think your point is valid. Cheers.

    • @tacos_are_life
      @tacos_are_life 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@theMennoniteMom Thank you for answering! I don’t know where it all stops or begins either. I live with my 19 year old daughter, and the church that we were attending before Covid was definitely a lot more relaxed in how they view things compared to how she and I personally felt convicted with different issues. It is considered a Cooperative Baptist church... which we later found out is almost borderline nondenominational. Although we kept attending, there were passages that convicted us personally (for example, we started observing sabbath in our home, stopped watching things on tv that weren’t faith based or listening to music that isn’t faith based, etc.), and we also stopped cutting our hair. We have personally wrestled with whether or not we should actually cover our hair, but we kept going back to our hair is our glory as well. So when you posted this video I was very interested to hear your point of view because we are very open minded, and I am curious how some people only partially cover their hair. Not from a judgement standpoint, but in the sense that I want to gain all the knowledge I can on how to glorify God. I love that people can look at you and know you have strong religious beliefs. We have been living a more simple life, and just want to continue to grow in faith. I’m not worried about what others think about me really, but I am very worried about respecting God. ❤️
