Tried smoking brats but noticed that the skin gets a bit tough. Does the added oil help with that? Flavor was certainly there but the tough casing was kinda gross. (Johnsonville)
I’ve noticed the same, I think the skin needs a higher temp or shorter cook time. Not sure which it is but I’ve noticed when I cook them at 325-350 the skin is much less tough than a longer smoke. I wonder if you smoke at 250 for a while and finish at a high temp how the skin would be.
I am about to do my first brat cook on my new Chimp, and this helped a bunch...good vid...thanks. Short, sweet and to the point with all the necessary times, temps and tips.
Brats are a major staple on the grill for my family. Just got a Pit Boss 820 and this was the first video i saw cooking brats on a pellet grill. Fantastic video. All the necessary info in a short and sweet video! Thanks! Subbed for sure!!
That is true, but I checked them with a thermometer and I forgot to add that clip to the video. You might be able to tell if the camera got really close to the one I poked. But i did.
Yea, NO. BRATS are inherently flavorful. I have NEVER heard of ANYONE "seasoning" brats. That's just messed up. Also, the one main point of a smoker is that it cooks evenly everywhere. You shouldn't have to turn brats, burgers, NOTHING. Delete your channel.
Can this be the same if you put em in the stove oven? Or i would need an outside grill for better results?
Great video! Appreciate the recap with times and temps. Second time doing it tonight, the first turned out amazing.
Great to hear!
Well done video. Love the way you summarize at the end. Good job
Glad you liked it!
Did this recipe on my camp chef... Absolute perfect cook! Thank you!

Thank you, I’m glad you liked it.
@@BeginnersBBQ came out great. Smoked some unhusked corn on the cob while the brats cooked. Used a different rub but still great.
@@jefformsby5604 I’m glad it came out great. I also want to try corn on the cob on the smoker
Man, i love the way you did the video, especially with the recap. Subbed!

Excellent video.....what type of pellets did you use? Thanks.
I used hickory pellets

🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Awesome stuff dude
Thank you
Good advice! I’ve noticed a lot of pellet grills cook faster or slower than each other. Kind of strange seeing as it’s all temp based. Lol great video
Thanks for watching!
Depends on the quality of your smoker and how it retains heat.
I opened the video and knew… he knows what he’s talking about
Love brats, haven't tried em on the traeger yet. Will do for Friday night. Thanks!
Great timing , will try this , this weekend

@@BeginnersBBQ I’ll be checking out probably every single video of yours haha. Total newbie out here but ready to get to cooking!! Thanks!
I’m going to try it this weekend.
I did brats last time from your other video and came out great. Can’t wait to try this
Enjoy the recap at the end. Really liking all your videos, thanks for sharing your passion!
Thank you 🙏
I'd like to know how you checked internal temp. they spew juice if you pierce the skin. and none of those looked shriveled and spewing.
That is true, but I checked them with a thermometer and I forgot to add that clip to the video. You might be able to tell if the camera got really close to the one I poked. But i did.
love your stuff brother
does any rub work?
Yes, any rubs will work.
Keep then videos coming !!!
Your vid gave me some good ideas. We'll see what the fam thinks.
I’m glad I can help.
Thanks for this. Looks good bud
I’m glad you liked my video.
Awesome, I gotta get a Traeger!!!
Depends on temperature before you smoke. Smoking at 0° is different than 70, 80, or 90.
That is right. That’s why sometimes it takes longer than normal because it’s cold outside.
"Flip at 48 mins.." lol..I'm gonna try these
Mine were done after 30 mins at 275
Came out with extremely overly chewy sausage casing, both this technique and the other video where u cook em at 350 for 20 mins, help!
What brand of brats are you using?
Elevation my good man the higher u are from sea level the air is thinner and things cook faster
Smoker is maybe running hotter then the one you watched 275 for you might be actually 250
i do mine at 225 for 2.5 hours, try and and your welcome

I mean, you have good points but are you doing the most telling him to delete his channel? Ha ha!
