WE ADD ANGLE TO MY BEATER CAR!

  • Since the beginning of time people have been adding angle to drift cars. A tie rod redesign is one of the simplest way to do it. Since no one had done it, I went ahead and designed one! Over the last year we have been testing and spec'ing this inner tie rod and I am ready to share my design with you guys. It adds around 25% more angle (9ish degrees added to the stock 36) is much stronger than OE e36 tie rods, and has an insanely durable liner that is inside a larger ball joint socket. This tie rod adds angle by having a spacer machined into the bulkhead. This allows your rack to travel further. So many e30, 36, 46, z4, z3, etc already have failed tie rods with play, replace yours with these much more durable units.
    Right now they are available at DriftHQ, hit them up to snag a pair.

    Only thing I would suggest is before installing the drift tie rods into the rod ends, start screwing the tie rod into the rack. Then back it out while lightly pulling until you find where the thread starts. Mark this point on the knuckle and outer casting of the rack, doesn't have to be accurate. Unscrew the tie rod completely and carry on with putting it into the rod end. It should be a bit easier to start into the rack knowing roughly where the threads want to meet.

    Hello Chelsea, I bought a set of your tie rods, but after just months of use, I got play in one of them. I don't know if I was just unlucky and got a defective one, but just one of the two tie rods feels loose now. Genuinely curious what makes the aluminum hub plates sketchy? Are they not very similar to the primary component responsible for adding angle in the SLR kit?

    • @chelseadenofa
      @chelseadenofa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      SLR kits have proper 7075 aluminum, use proper machined ball joints and spacers, and the hardware is spec’d properly for the usage.
      The angle adaptors from a lot of suppliers use a shitty m12 wheel lug nut stud as a pickup point, stock outer tie rod taper straight into aluminum, and the block is made out of chinesium. Not to mention they have zero or negative Ackerman AND some even move the knuckle outward creating massive leverage point and ruined geometry,
      Do they add angle... of course. Will they make drifting easier because they add angle... of course. But they are sketchy AF

    We had in our E36 this 4mm Rack Spacers, but the Spacers killed our steering rack. The last tooth gear of the rack was broken, we think because of the much more travel room of the steering. Does anyone else had the same Problems as we had? So many people drive the rack spacers an we have never heard of any issues with it.

    • @joshkiej6601
      @joshkiej6601 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      so on the inner tie rod you have the large part, which limits the length the tie rod can go out. By making the large part sit further from the rack in a straight position so you can turn them further. You can buy steering rack spacers which have the same effect, but theyre not as strong. The spacers make it so your steering rack can turn 4mm further, which is a decent distance at full lock
