You are seriously one of the best people on youtube. Your tutorials are spot on you show everything we need and some. Going the exstra mile to even give a part number. Thats triple A+ service. Hats off to you sir
I do a lot of repairs on my own equipment, both electronic and mechanical devises, and I watch a lot of utube videos when I need a little direction. THIS video, is a perfect example of how these kinds of videos should be done ! EXCellent editing, that speeds the video along when there is no reason to watch a simple part of the process at hand, that we don't need to see ! EXCellent use of the camera, with perfect focus, proper angles, and proper distance from objects !! And donyboy73, your use of the English language is also, excellent. You speak clearly and concisely, without stumbling over words, ever, so that we viewers can always understand exactly, what it is that you are explaining. I vote that donyboy73 does all videos in all areas covered by utube, forever. Thanks for the fine work.
You are good . Thank you for your presentations, you are representing professionals at their best. I wish many other people will follow your style. Thank you. ChrisI will follow your instructions, and I hope that will work.
I appreciate your clear, concise, and instructive videos. After having repaired 3 different snow blowers this year (first time ever for me) I am interested in learning all I can about them for future reference. Thanks for sharing. Blessings, George
Well i repaired a throttle problem but it wasnt on a snowblower, it was a 8 Hp Briggs Vertical Shaft on a Snapper riding mower, the throttle lever on the carburetor was sticky, i was mowing grass with it and the throttle lever stuck in full throttle position, i repaired it by attaching a spring from the throttle lever to the mower body, it works great
So I just watched three of your videos like a refresher course on an old Tecumseh motor appreciate your videos man thank you very much these videos were seven years old but still work today thank you very much and have a merry Christmas
I am in process of watching all of them. There is quite a difference between small engines and the automobiles that I used to work on, in spite of the similarities.
Hey Dony, good video. If you get a couple of pieces of one inch aluminum angle iron to put over your vice jaws you won't damage the parts. Keep up the good work.
Hello, Donny. Im replacing the carburator. On lawnmower this one has a plate on top. Turtle for slow/ Rabbit for fast. There 2 screw's . how do i adjust them to right turn's.? I can't control the speed. It run at the same RPM. Thank's/ and Hello to Canada. From Calif.
I like how you do your videos well explained all the info needed to do a do it yourself job thanks for sharing all the information wish you the best to your small engine repair shop
i searched that and it comes up as just the spindle housing. i may be wrong, but i am looking for the model of the carb as a whole. thanks for the quick response by the way!
A friend's snow blower stopped hard (bang) and would not turn over with the recoil. Looking at it i could not see anything until I removed the starter. There is a small crack in the block that I am sure was caused by a broken con rod. Before I tear into this is it possible to fix this small crack with some high temp epoxy. I have rebuilt small engines before but have never had this issue. The motor ran great right up until it didn't.
a question about my snow blower. I'm not sure mine is throwing the proper distance and suspect my motor speed is too low. Other vids. I have watched suggest a high speed of 3600 RPM. Sound right to you? Thank you.
great video thanks. What has been your experience with the new ethanol fuel that is now mandatory in all fuel sold in Canada ? It seems to make my engines pop and hard to start after a long period of storage, seems like it attracts more water than before...
Hi dony, the idle on my Tecumseh hmsk80 has a tendancy to swing up and down by a few hundred RPMs. Noticed the throttle shaft has some play in it. I haven't had a chance to take apart to see if the shaft or the hole in the carb body is worn. Just curious, based on your experience, does the shaft typically wear or does the hole in the carb body typically wear?
What is the # for the replacement spring on the shaft? I have a similar carb on an MTD lawn tractor and I could not figure out why the unit was not idling correctly until I removed the carb and noticed that the part of the spring that would slip over the top of the throttle shaft plate had broken off. I am going to just form another hook on the end for the time being but if the force on the throttle plate is no longer within specs, I will need to get another spring. Thanks.
Dony i have an old 80's yardbird with 8hp Tecumseh the throttle lever is on the handle could i swap it for the setup on this machine on the side of the motor?
I'm looking for a 7 horsepower Briggs & Stratton Flo jet carburetor it's a little old one I'm sure you know what it is you have any ideas where I can find one? Thanks buddy.
I have a loose wire that is dangling I think it goes to the carburetor cover plate but don't know we're to place it can you advise were to attach it I tried to attach it in front of stop key terminal but it seems blower in that place if I keep it loose it will start for a while then die out
Donny I was trying to find the part numbers for a carb rebuild for a Tecumseh 12 hp engine on my MTD White snow king blower. It has the no-adjust nut on the bowl and a bowl drain plunger The engine Model is OHSK120 and the number after that is 23603A. Can't fine anything on the MTD site. I really only need the bowl casket and the nut casket Everything else was very clean and looks good - 15 years old too. Can you help me with the numbers to order? Thanks a bunch big guy
hey donyboy I have a homelite heard they where trash then i cleaned the carb and burned the excesses carbon out of the muffler and it idles then dies. ya know whats wrong?
I have looked for hours on Ebay after a new governor arm and the two rods. There are too much play in them so the throttle on my old Toro goes up and down constantly. Do you have any idea for an easy fix?
Always a good practice to get all the nuts, bolts, screws, started on covers, manifolds, and anything that has more than one fastener, started first. Seems like there is always a little adjusting to get parts to seat properly before doing the final tightening.
i apologize for asking again as i know you responded already (i cant find the response). is 640054 the part number for the carb itself as a whole? or is it 640639. thanks
Looks like another Techumseh motor that wont run properly without the choke being on! Lol I keep having this problem with my yardworks machine with 8.5hp Techumseh. I just pulled the carb apart today and cleaned it really well, after reinstalling it, it seems to run with the throttle all the way up, when you pull the throttle back down it doesn't really reduce the engine speed. Il have to look closely at the throttle plate shaft tomorrow in the daylight. I did remove the playe amd shaft to clean everything well. I wonder if the plate went on a hair different then its original position? Cause the higher idle speed. I turned the idle screw back out but it wont reduce the idle speed. Always enjoy your vids!
Hey Dony- great vid as always. Question: is there any way to seal up the looseness in the throttle shaft. The play allowing in too much air and the s/b is hunting. If I spray carb cleaner around the t/s while it’s hunting, the idle smooths out. The machine is a toro ccr2000. Many thanks in advance. Jim
Great presentation, very informative, as all of your videos are. Would it be possible to do a segment on engine governor types, how they work, what goes wrong and how to fix them. Thanks Tony Port Hadlock, WA
Hey can you try to find somewhere I can get the throttle linkages from the governer to the carb and to the throttle? I can't find them it would help me out a lot thanks!!!!!
It's best to add a felt washer on top of a damaged or worn shaft after adding the spring. A few drops of oil on the felt seals any air leaks between the shaft and the shaft hole you created by sanding and filing the shaft. If you do not do this, you will create a rich condition on the carburetor and will find the blower still doesn't run correctly. I have fixed many snow blowers with worn shafts with the felt washer trick.
If the throttle plate mark is not in the correct position the engine may run lean. I had a hard time identifying this problem but the previous owner must have messed up the plate position along with the idea screw. Also the alignment for 8 HP engines and up is as you show but for 5 HP it is @ 12:00 position
Hey Don, awesome video. The snowblower sounds great. I'm guessing it would be the same way to fix the carburetor on a 5 hp, would it? That's what I have.
Donyboy thanks for the clear thorough concise instructions I think they are the best on U-tube and I've learned a lot . Do you have a e-mail should I require additional info sometime? I concurr with the previous commentor the fact that you supply nparts number. What address do we use if we want to purchase some parts from you? Thanks keep up the good work. Merry Christmas to you and your family
Hey thank you so much. Great presentation very well explained just happened upon your video and I am doing exactly the same repair on my snowblower. This has made the repair ten times easier. Got to get ready for that big snow storm that's on its way. Let it snow let it snow llllleeeettt sssssnnnnowwww.
You are seriously one of the best people on youtube. Your tutorials are spot on you show everything we need and some. Going the exstra mile to even give a part number. Thats triple A+ service. Hats off to you sir
thanks tom
The return spring on the throttle lever (not the carb) on mine was sticking. I lubricated everything and it was good. Thanks for the tips!

You are so thorough and show real life symptoms. Donny Boy is the man to see no question about it.
Great video and explanation of everthing you need to know on how the carb is installed and repaired. THANKS MUCH

Another very well done video Don! Clear and close up video, great descriptions/instructions!

I love that work around method.
Very good...my favorite tutor.
Clear and detailed. I appreciate your expertise.
So I just watched three of your videos like a refresher course on an old Tecumseh motor appreciate your videos man thank you very much these videos were seven years old but still work today thank you very much and have a merry Christmas
Great job explaining in detail....... also that's for adding part numbers
I am in process of watching all of them. There is quite a difference between small engines and the automobiles that I used to work on, in spite of the similarities.
Donny, I have never used Lock-Tite because I felt by doing so would make the bolt or screw very hard to remove.
What do you think?
thank you for your outstanding good explanations , you're a great teacher.
And there you helped one more like me with problems, Thank you and happy new year
I am no mechanic..I appreciate your videos! Followed them and my snowblower is running like it is brand new.
Outstanding repair!!! It's a Friday night with Beer, pizza and Don fixin snow blowers... My happy place.

yes indeed I have noticed it attracts or separates from the fuel, a lot of carb issues come into the shop

Merry Xmas Donyboy73...thank you.
Great help series here. I will definitley do this if this ever happens to my snowblower.
Sometimes you just have to fix it in a hurry...
Great to see someone that's can fix something without threw new parts on.
i searched that and it comes up as just the spindle housing. i may be wrong, but i am looking for the model of the carb as a whole. thanks for the quick response by the way!

how much compression should a HS 50 tecumseh have? Mine has about 50psi

Thanks Donny great idea for any similar situation, I really like these tips n tricks, can't always get a new part

A lots of snowthrowers now dont have a throttle lever, they are preset by the manifacturers. Do you see anny drawback in one or they other?

Hi Don, At 5:12 the muffler looks loose, did you need to remove it?
Good fix, not all repairs need a replacement part..
hey donyboy I have a homelite heard they where trash then i cleaned the carb and burned the excesses carbon out of the muffler and it idles then dies. ya know whats wrong?
I have a cheesy 3 HP Toro Snow thrower that hasn't run for 2 years but it is still always fun to see the "Big Guns" get fixed.
I have looked for hours on Ebay after a new governor arm and the two rods. There are too much play in them so the throttle on my old Toro goes up and down constantly. Do you have any idea for an easy fix?
Wow this guy is very smart. Now I know who to ask a question

Very good job
use red loctite for permanent bolts or screws and blue loctite for temporary
I can not adjust the governor to idle. Maybe you can instruct me on how to do this adjustment Please?
Well done again Don!!
it's the nature of the beast
i checked mine seems tight but at half way on the throttle cable it's still at idle this is a old jacobsen 626 on full seems to pick up some
Looks like another Techumseh motor that wont run properly without the choke being on! Lol

do you know the model of that tecumseh carb? i have been searching forever and yours is the first one i found to be an exact match. thanks!
thanks for sharing ur knowledge, also I would like to replace my carb on a 1963 snowblower but I do not have the model number,
Can u tell me how to order carburetor for engine model lev115 350154e tecumseh
what would cause the throttle to slowly fall due to the engine vibration ?
Cool where can I get one I use mine to cut the firewood that I sell

best to replace the carb
This was a great video, very helpful!
Do you know how much a rebuild kit for a 36cc craftsmen chainsaw carburetor from 1998
Great presentation, very informative, as all of your videos are.
Would it be possible to do a segment on engine governor types, how they work, what goes wrong and how to fix them.
Thanks
Tony
Port Hadlock, WA
if there is a fuel shut off valve under the tank, make sure it's in the ON position
i'll keep that in mind tony
Isn't it better to use "soft jaws" on the vise, rather than damaging the throttle shaft, and risking air leaks atound the throttle shaft?
wow thats a rare repair to have to do. nice video don.
As always, great job, great videos Donyboy73 !!!
Hey can you try to find somewhere I can get the throttle linkages from the governer to the carb and to the throttle? I can't find them it would help me out a lot thanks!!!!!
Thanks so much. You helped me repair the exact same issue.
I have fixed many snow blowers with worn shafts with the felt washer trick.
please watch my other videos for a good education in small engines
You make a good video ,is very simple to understand ,Thank you--------------------------------From Montreal ,Can
Great camera work Donny.
donyboy, you really know how to make a video. One of the very best I've seen on UTube. CurEus 1
Since the engines have magneto's, how can we measure the engines rpm's? Is there a tach for this?
Nice easy repair love it
If the throttle plate mark is not in the correct position the engine may run lean. I had a hard time identifying this problem but the previous owner must have messed up the plate position along with the idea screw. Also the alignment for 8 HP engines and up is as you show but for 5 HP it is @ 12:00 position
Thank you very much thanks
Anyone have a suggestion on how to remove a stripped throttle shaft shutter screw on a Tecumseh carb?
thank you!
my blower will start using starter fluid. it starts and dies. I also replaced the carb. what else can I do.
awesome info TY
Hey Don, awesome video. The snowblower sounds great. I'm guessing it would be the same way to fix the carburetor on a 5 hp, would it? That's what I have.
yes, almost identical
yes you can buy a tach
it's not a repair method i recommend, it has held up though, brazing it would be good too but not everyone has torches
THANX
i used to but not anymore, i would sure like a visit to the briggs warehouse lol
Thank you for your nice details video
Donyboy thanks for the clear thorough concise instructions I think they are the best on U-tube and I've learned a lot . Do you have a e-mail should I require additional info sometime? I concurr with the previous commentor the fact that you supply nparts number. What address do we use if we want to

Hi Paul, I only supply parts to my Canadian viewers if they provide part numbers.
How did you bypass the key switch?
Honest Question: These things run without an air filter ?
yes, no air filter on snowblowers
