This statement though common, is largely incorrect. It depends on how much the salary is and more importantly, how you invest it. Following your dream can get you rich but it can also get you broke and bankrupt if you don't have the accurate 'know-how'. So, in the end its not you salary or dream that gets you rich (in dollar terms). Its your application of the right principles of wealth creation, accumulation and retention.

Most folks must rely on a salary to start their entrepreneurial journey until they can spread their wings and take flight on their own. At times, money and credit for investments takes several months to acquire, while food, shelter, and transportation, remain a constant necessity.

I was an employe for Tilman as a waiter at saltgrass for a year. They don't care about you and only about the $$$. They take advantage of you too making you do more work for no pay. If you don't do it you get written up. All management were nothing but psychopaths. I only stayed for the money until getting fired for being late. They don't care about their customers either because we microwave our sides that have been made a week ago stored in cooler. The steaks are frozen. The company cuts corners to make extra $$$. They make servers do excessive side work that is supposed to be done by non tipped(hourly) employees. But they don't want to pay someone so they make servers do more.
Don't work for any of Tilmans restaurants.

To be honest, I too realised this after working for 2 years that we must think through a lot before joining a company. One must research, talk to people who are there in the industry/function you want to go to. They are the best people to tell you what it’s like. I am also researching my path and hope I find it sooner. Good luck to everyone here and I pray the same for you.

My happiness comes from how happy my children will be. I realized that most of the time, when you are chasing after your dream, you may not have enough time to spend time with your children. To me, being a good father to my children is more important than my dream. That doesn’t mean, I don’t do anything about my dream, I do, but I like to balance it.
Most successful rich people are never happy with their family. They just remember being working, working, working and chasing after money that becomes nothing when you die. Everyone wants to have money, I do as well, but I convinced myself to let go the greed toward money.

That is the popular advice being spread among the masses, and that may be true to some extent. However, filling a need/demand and solving critical problems for payment even though one doesn't love the opportunity, tends to be the quicker way to achieveing ones' goals and dreams leading to doing what one loves. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule. One must at least care about helping others accomplish their goals while conducting affairs with integrity.

To become successful, you must answer a critical question:
What can you offer that someone will pay you to do?
It can be a skill, service, product, ability, talent, solution or even a personality.
Identify what you have that people will pay for.
Then work to become a master of it.

It would also help greatly to have a strong leadership/business owner/ role model/influencer/mentor, as his dad was at a young age. The environment one grows up in tends to shape a young persons mind to a large extent.
Ultimately, it takes a strong desire to achieve better circumstances in life and taking the appropriate actions necessary to accomplish the goal(s) envisioned.

Your dreams CAN come true. Take it from me. I got tired of working, tired of the grind. One morning I hatched a plan. I had gotten out of the shower and rather than get dressed for work I opened my front door and ran down the street naked screaming "I can't take it anymore!!!!". Sure I was embarrassed to have my ass come out on the news, to have neighbors and friends laugh at me, but I had the laugh last. Police took me to the psychiatric ward and I had to jump through some hoops, took almost a year, but I was put on permanent disability. That was 20 years ago. I never had to work again and I moved to a quaint house in Puerto Rico with very quiet neighbors. yes, I live across the street from a cemetery. Well? cheap house and quiet neighbors. Disability don't pay much so you need to get creative. We all have our own dreams and for some of us that dream is to never have to work again. Good luck my people, follow your dream for life is short and you will soon be dead. Who knows, you might be my neighbor one day.

Hmmm at 2:34 this goon says knowing business, finance, etc was a god given gift. That is the biggest line of bull I've ever heard.
