To questions about if this is a dangerous chemical. Humic acid is not a "chemical." To dumb it down, it's concentrated compost. To questions about value, humic acid is nothing new, but may be new to homeowners b/c products are now available to separate you from your money. You can find 90% humic acid powder for about $15 per pound. This dissolves in water to make a concentrate which is further diluted to apply via sprayer and will cover ½ acre. Depending on the size of your yard, may last a season or more. Thanks for the video Pete, your yard looks spectacular
Pete: One of the cool things about Humic Acid is 'VROOOOOOMMMMMMM". " Did you hear that joker? He just kicked it by me." :D I appreciate what you're doing Pete, you're doing the best in spite of your circumstances. I've been using GCF products in my yard for the past 2 seasons, and I've had better results than the past 7 years since I've lived here. Nowhere near the level of compaction relief that you have, but it just flat out works.
It’s storming here in Lakeville mn so what a great time for me to watch my favorites on TH-cam, just pull the pin and got your cool season guide and some carbon x, and will be reading the guide in a bit, will be getting some more N-EXT products too, Thanks for helping us out with the awesome videos and great info,
Pete I caught up to that truck that kicked it driving by and told him when Pete’s filming, take it as a “no wake zone” but for the road. He said he understood and will keep his foot off the gas going forward lol
You can use Terravita Humic Acid SP90...1 pound for $15 will make you 2 gallons of liquid Humic Acid...i use this and the Next Products to keep cost down.
Hey buddy, thank you. I remember when I used to not be able to get enough learning about grass, and make other people's lawns look good. Now, went out of business in 16' n I'm just worried about my own lawn! Lost interest in it among other things. 😉
I love your videos brother and I've been following you for a good while now. The only thing that worries me is how dangerous are all these different chemicals that we apply to the lawn? Serious question because a lot of people have pets and do we really know the long-term effects of all this stuff we're putting on our lawns? Thanks for the good work Pete and keep up the videos
High Pete. I was wondering if you could help me figure out what humic really works and what is worth the cost. Im new to lawn care and i see everyone talking about humic. I get the benefits, but i don't understand the massive differences in price. If i look at greene count next humic 12, you can get a 5 gallon bucket that is 12% humic. 5 gallons is about 40 lbs so your getting somewhere around 5 lbs of humic. It was around 160 shipped, so thats like 30/lb for the active ingredient. Now if i look at granular products, Anderson's makes humic dg and i can get that for about 50 bucks for 40 lbs or about 1.25/lb. So the question is if the humic 12 is somehow 25-30 time more effective somehow? Im not saying it is or isnt. I really just dont know and im a father of 2 with college to save for. I want a nice lawn for them to play in, but i dont want to spend more than i have to. Can you help me figure this out? Can you do a test with something like humic dg and humic 12?
if you are going to apply humic commercially as an applicator you need to call GCF direct....they will get you better pricing because you will buy in bulk...your cost per gallon will be less and cost per application will be less. I appreciate you mentioning your kids...I respect you wanting to do whats best for them before yourself
@@GCITurf Thanks for taking the time to reply to me. I will call your shop tomorrow. I did some research and found a video from lawncology about the different kinds of humic. It appears that the humic12 product really is different. We have really heavy clay soil and 20k sqft to do. Im trying to figure out how to make the grass grow better and help hold the hill sides a bit better. Id like to probably try reforming the soil thats here rather than haul in a bunch of new topsoil. The topsoil i can find around here is pretty heavy clay too. Im thinking of topdressing with black kow for a few years and doing himic of some kind. There is just so much hype and everyone says this product or the other is the best thing since air was invented and the prices are all over the place.
Keep it up Pete! Quick question, how do you mix 18-0-1 in the sprayers plus sprayer? I know they recommend doing it with a hose end sprayer but I bought myself the YT25E sprayer and looking forward to using that to applying all my liquid products. Thanks
Hey Pete! I live in New Orleans and would love to try and plant some tall fescue. I really love striping my lawn but my current turf does not stripe hard enough. Do you think given my extremely hot climate tall fescue can survive? Could your custom blend make it in the south? By the way your turf looks awesome at your home.
Is there a specific brand of humid acid you like? I’m in upstate SC and have a ton of rock hard clay slow here. I hydroseed and would love a product that will help the jobs I do
Hey Pete, Thanks for the email advice this week. I did Humic12 at a rate of 12oz per 1000 and watered it in yesterday very early before the heat came up. Then Mother Nature blessed me with some rain on top of that. This was my second application this year. My first was the complete BioStim pack at 3oz. I don’t water except when the grass looks stressed and it was almost impossible to get the spike of the impact sprinkler into the dirt. After that first app of BioStim, I could get it in about three inches before I hit “bedrock” clay. I can’t wait to see how the 12oz rate changes things!
So hard for me to reconcile the use and cost of Humic acid after watching Matt Martin's vid "Is humic Acid a scam?" It's confusing cause everyone uses it and you hear such great things about it. But bottom line with Matt's vid is that it doesn't live up to all the hype.
Can you apply Humic 12 on top of existing grass in the spring? I'm in the Midwest and we get spring showers constantly. I usually do the old Dawn soap trick to condition and loosen my soil.
We have a ton of clay that we aerate every fall, Will humic acid help breakdown the clay? Also, did I miss the link you mentioned for the guy from Arkansas? Love that Ventrac...so versatile!
I thought it was the N-Ext Air-8 that remedied compacted soil...? So the Humic 12 would somehow be better for soil compaction then? I'm getting confused I guess...
komaboi19 air8 has Humic Acid. This video is no about only soil compaction. My point is the Humic is one of the best overall soil conditioners available. Helping to aerate the ground is just one of the things Humic does. Hope this helps.
not really....the humic is simply starting to work on the ground so that years to come my "new" bermuda grass will have a great place to live...all this will also help the common bermuda to thrive so as much as possible is up when i smoke it....
No he's not, unless TH-cam has changed there rules, TH-cam decides what ads play during the videos, the video creator decides how many ads come up. Pete has been the most fairest to him and super juice vs the other TH-cam guys at least on video, I can't speak for when the camera is not on.
Mo Cobb well I saw the ad. I don’t pay to get ads removed and it knows that I watch lawn videos a lot so it makes sense. Here is a suspicion I’ve had for a while. I think Doc works for the Anderson’s company and he is getting payed to create a grass roots environment for the large company. Which makes sense how fast he gets these products out there and also the commercial. They have the money to put out an ad

Pete you should try the probe on that lawn so we can see the difference. Food for thought Great videos!!

You should have used your soil compaction tester on this area. Before and after.
I will....totally did not think about that
