Metroid has always been up there with Kirby as one of my all-time favorite video game franchises.

I have absolutely adored the Metroid games ever since the first one on NES! A major thing I loved about the series was the foreboding atmosphere, the solitude of being alone in a hostile environment, and the freeform exploration. When Fusion came out, I was kind of disappointed because it lacked those things, but in recent years, I've definitely turned around my opinion of it for doing a different kind of "space horror" movie.

I was surprised to hear on stream last night that people were disappointed by fusion! But I think Super Metroid in terms of 2D has unmatched atmosphere and isolation feelings. But I’m glad you came around to Fusion, I love seeing Samus be expressive and such, not to mention SA-X is a super cool and creepy antagonist!!

@@juunibug Haha, I absolutely resented ADAM and being told where my next checkpoint was in a Metroid game. But looking back, one thing Fusion does very well that the others don't is a sense of boxed-in claustrophobia. And even back then, when the SA-X appeared, I realized I was holding my breath, terrified. That's not something a lot of handheld games can manage to do!

I love Samus and the Metroid series (except Other M). I first played Metroid on the NES but never got far in it back in the day (never had the patience to map game and always got lost in all the similar looking rooms). Really got into the series with Super Metroid and played every game since. Always loved Samus's character, the badass bounty hunter in power armor saving the day by herself. Yes please.

I struggled with NES metroid even with a map and a video guide (also the frame drops and enemies hurting during screen transitions if they get in the door LOL)
Samus really is so cool, I love how her development came about and even though she's a cool female role-model for me, I think she's just cool and appealing no matter who you are and I think that makes her really badass!!

Nothing will ever surpass the feeling of landing on the planet in Metroid Prime the first time (for me, anyways). Getting out, looking around, and the music following you the whole way through the rain. There are moments in that game that still trigger unrelenting fear and its been 22 years... If you know, you know. (Save often).

Prime was very difficult for me but such an incredible experience. I love the progression of Metroid games, feeling stronger as the game goes on more and more!! (and yes I'm a huge "save at every point i see" XD)

I can't even remember how far me and the Metroid series go back lol. I just know I used to own a Metroid 2 Poster back in the 90's when I was still a kid who didn't even know anything about Metroid. But I guess it was fate that I would become a Metroid fan eventually. XD

A mod for Metroid Dredd where the EMMI were free roaming would be a TIME!

even tho sa-x is scripted in where it will appear, i still feel that anxiety to this day. they did a good job of making it feel like a sinister presence.

29:45 Yo this is happening to me right now! lol you gave me some KH fever watching you have so much fun progging the Axel data fight on stream and i bought it immediately, but this Epic games PC version is like a crashy broken nightmare and after i updated my drivers, it wont even launch anymore, so im about to give up and cry and steal my bros old ps4 and buy it for that. Also for me jello shots are pretty much like regular shots but more yummy, though you'll feel like a dumbo pressing it against your mouth trying to scoop it all out of the cup with your tongue

Oh nooooo!! RECoM has been the only problem game, i think maybe KH2 crashed offstream when i was opening too many things on my PC. But I hope that PS4 will treat you better and that you enjoy playing!
Hahaha! I don't really go out partying ever compared to 10 years ago (OMG) so I don't have much opportunities for jello shots, I'm very much a chill beer enjoyer (wine is good if it's not too sweet for me) :)

@@juunibug Yeah doing jello shots just doesn't happen after college huh lol. I'd rather have a beer too anyway.
I've only played Metroid Dread, and being a typical sweaty gamer who pretty much mainly plays games for the gameplay, already forgor the story entirely. So what is it about Samus that you think got you so emotionally attached to her?

As mentioned in the beginning, I found her via Smash Bros and didn't play a Metroid game until 2018-2019,
But back then as a young kid, I didn't see many playable female characters. Seeing a character like Samus (and Chun-Li from Street Fighter) was incredibly inspiring to me. They're very strong, beautiful, and kickass and it helped me feel like I could be strong too growing up (that is a TLDR version haha!)

As much as I liked Dread, I still have to say Zero Mission is my favorite. Dread is still in my top 5, same with this game.
