CONGATS BEST MUSICAL! MY OCTOBER 2022 REVIEW: I haven't been so moved by such a transcendent experience in the theater since Hamilton. This is a delightful, hilarious and heartfelt musical comedy set in New Jersey (!) about the events surrounding Kimberly's 16th birthday party and, sad to say, it could be her last because she has a rare genetic disorder that causes rapid aging and early death. This is also a laugh riot, a silly cartoon that is deep in truths about narcissism, addiction, the pain and joy of being young, and the yearning for love and the wisdom to live in the now. Victoria Clark, Tony winner for The Light in the Piazza in 2005, and now 63, plays the sweet-16 teenager as a wise soul whose inner youthful exuberance and love of life sparkle from her eyes behind a rigid mask of age and pain. Clark's performance is sublime, (She won the TONY!) and she leads a perfect cast of 8 other splendid actors who portray Kim's family and fellow students. Two boffo standout performers are a lock for front-runner status for featured actor trophies. Bonnie Milligan (TONY Winner!) captures the stage with her outrageously naughty turn as Kim's Aunt Debra, a convicted felon who is out on parole and is about to lead Kim and her friends into a check-forging scheme. Justin Cooley, in an absolutely smashing Broadway debut, is revelatory as Kim's lab partner Seth, whose passion for anagrams leads them both to unlock the beauty and the true meaning within each other, despite the labels that obscure them. Kimberly Akimbo, profoundly, leads us to consider the conundrum of the gift and the scourge of Time, how we waste it and how we realize its urgency. Kim has the best chance to figure it out, because she's really the only adult in the room. Grade: A+
I really enjoy this song, especially as the close for act 1. There's this little bit of saxophone in it that I love, I just wish there was more of it. Big props!
I love this song and I loved the performance when I got the chance to see it, but I can’t find the video of you guys performing this on The Kelly Clarkson Show anywhere ;-;
One of the best musicals I have ever seen. Great music, cast, and moving story.
I seriously need the full cast recording now. Or else I’m going to implode!!!!!
Just brilliantly uplifting and inspiring. What we desperately need right now, a musical with a message of love.
Spectacular cast, superb
Beautiful and inspiring….
