Just seeing this video now. Eric is and always will be my rock idol. Met him a few times along with Buck. Eric has a great sense of humor and is very comfortable to talk with. I am seeing BOC again in February 2020. I feel blessed to still have Eric and Buck performing that i can see them. Been a fan for 40 years and they will always be my favorite band of all time. Many people of my generation don't appreciate how talented these guys are. Buck is an amazing guitarist that when playing live leaves me in awe. I love watching and hearing him play. He composes the most beautiful guitar solos i have ever heard. I appreciate that he isn't just shredding the guitar and making noise like other guitarists. On Tour Forever BOC 🤘
Saw them so many times from 70's up to a few years ago. Love them. They are suave, cosmic and stoney. I met Albert once and he was really cool. Smart guys.
Christy B, I completely agree with your comments on Buck;s guitar playing you described it as I would have, also Eric made a great front man. I've been a fan since I was fifteen and have every album, my son's first concert was BOC about four years back at the Kern county fair and we are very excited to get their new album in a few months.
Thank you Eric for the Christmas Eve of '92. Your kindness was truly appreciated on a very dark day for me, the first anniversary of burying my father. You turned one of the hardest days for me into one of the brightest. Be well sir and much love to your lovely family. Sorry you missed your basketball game just to be kind to a BOC fan, but it meant the world to me.
Yeah, met him at a room party at DragonCon in late '80's. He was super nice just hanging out and talking with me when all I was going to do was say a quick hi and thank you and try not to be that fan guy. Best memory ever!
@Ian L12 no, they are not, they have not even been nominated ever, and you got bands like Nirvana that weren't even born when BÖC formed that have gotten in, and rappers and Madonna, that place is a joke, I call it the Hall of Shame. Blue Öyster Cult have been continually 💩on by the record industry their whole career and still turn the blind eye and did it their way, that's why I have so much respect for them, that and that they're one of my favorite bands ever!!
Hey Al. How's the best teacher in NYS these days? I hope life is finding you well! Your students are the luckiest lil bastards on the planet, my music teacher was a complete idiot. Been to the Whitehouse accepting any awards again lately :-)? I can't believe my scumbag stepkid deleted my DirecTv Agents of Fortune concert and I won't get to see your cool ass SG again.Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you and yours. Btw, how is your son Ace? Wish him well from my wife and myself.
I am 15yrs old (in the UK)...it's 1975...and I'm listening to the radio...and the brilliant Alan Freeman plays "Harvester of Eyes" from "On Your Feet Or On Your Knees" - what is this? It's nasty...it speeds up (oh god I love songs that speed up!) and although it's unfashionably fast, it has that metal crunch! Great band...not always great...but who is? Bought all the albums...saw the band (1978 - with the laser show) - just knocked out... Fan for 45yrs.
Blue Oyster Cult has been great on multiple levels. They can harmonize like the more "mainstream" rock bands, they can rock as hard as anyone and their live performances are consistently great. My family loves you!
And to add insult to injury, their levels are set way too low. If you're going to cover a mans face with a microphone, at least turn the damned thing on.
what`s that rock musician thing with the perennial sunglasses? I can`t recall seeing an interview with a rocker where they`re not wearing sunglasses, ever. I wonder why?
Whose movies? Eric bloom ...Action son of a Gun. Put him in the next "Guardians of the Galaxy!" Get rid of that other loser with the old tapes. Well, just a thought maybe... A bed one huh? Still I like it....
@@Curfew2007 excellent question, you'd have to ask the producers of the movies, there's been what 3 or 4 since BOC recorded the song?, it does seem odd because it would be perfect, but like the music biz in movies payola usually wins, like when they have rap for the theme of a western, or really any movie, rap makes no sense except for a rap movie, you really wonder what they are thinking when they pick out music for a movie
Thanks for this, but next time, please use lapel mics or move the microphone so you can see the guest face...please. Eric, since you make the set list, I have some input. I think Heavens Forbid was your best work. The songs seem to be lost to many, and I think they were the most meaningful. A song about a man losing his brother to a drunk driver , Live For Me, or the hidden evil in Harvest Moon, to the Real World, the answer to Doctor My Eyes (or homage to Ray Milland), X-Ray Eyes, to the best Rock and Roll song ever...Damaged! I love you and your band, your history with Patty, and New York. Thanks for the wonderful music you have shared with us. Peace, Man!
Get some microphones out into the audience next time. Anyway, Eric captured the spirit of Jim Morrison better than anyone else I've seen the last time I saw him, which was about a year ago.
Here is a wonderful run down of the equipment BOC uses on tour. Wait until the end, they even show the cow bell used in Don’t Fear the Reeper! th-cam.com/video/JvxTHJ_vl34/w-d-xo.html
Just like Sturgil sings, They call me king turd up here in shit mountain but if you want it you can have the crown, Enjoy, more than anyone, it's yours...

@Chris Manzi Toad's is a great venue and perfect for some enchanted evening. I saw Buddy Guy there. Stones have gigged there. Very cool.

The "Sinister Crooner". B.O.C should be in the R&R HOF.
I one millionth that statement.

He's a veteran of a thousand psychic wars.
He loves the night and has a workshop of telescopes that is a stairway to the stars.
And he's got the hammer back
The poor lad has been living on the edge so long...
A great interview is allowing the guest to speak. This was a great interview...Thanks...
Happy 75th Birthday Eric Bloom
Been a fan since the first album.
Dibs on 3rd
I absolutely love Eric Bloom. Thank you!
I just bought my ticket to see BOC live in Portland Oregon, Feb 15, 2020!! The Oyster Boys are gonna kick Portlands ass once again!! More cowbell!
Hej jag var på konsert med Blue oyster gult i maj 1978 i Göteborg jag var helt såld på er your are fantastisk Håkan in Jonsered sweden

Great guest!
Compelling stuff. Great interview! Eric is the man!!
Eric is unreal he get's it.
Love hearing Bloom tell the story of how BOC came to be. Also check out headliners and legends 3 strokes of fate.
Yep Eric the Beatles were the catalyst. Nail on the head.
Brilliant!
He is a harvester of eyes.
Wonderful stories from such a brilliant song-writer and musician. The only bad thing here are the gigantic microphones totally in the way
Ya, well
Say you and me did it and I would only follow you.
Could we do any better?
| Hope so cuz I want a raise.

It's not Blue Oyster Cult, it's Blue Öyster Cult!
Eric.......saw a new interview with you and your awesome wiskers
Eric and Buck are the drivetrain of BOC !!
New Years Eve was the FINAL BARRIER AT 8:27.
Amen and love
Not quite sure why they didn’t edit the technical glitch out ....lol
Like Ian Astbury from the Cult,Jim Morrison's Heir Apparents:)

It would be nice if the host repeated the Q & A questions, so all of us out in internet land can know what's being asked.
I fully agree....
W H Y was GODZILLA never used in any of "his" movies ?????
Whose movies?
Eric bloom ...Action son of a Gun.
Put him in the next "Guardians of the Galaxy!"
Get rid of that other loser with the old tapes.
Well, just a thought maybe...
A bed one huh?

Don't forget one that Eric sang on that album, Cold, Gray Light of Dawn. Crusher of a tune.
agreed, my second best album only losing to imaginos
Thank you for the feedback regarding our audio! Some guests have specific mic requests.
@@dragonhawkk Thankyou. Thought i was the only one that thought Imaginos was their best.

OK so Les had to say something about Eric cuz Eric refuses to mention his name now.
Ate you talking about Les Braunstien?
