Great detective work. And also, it's worth a mention that MSFS Addons Linker has now been updated for 2024, so you should be able to just reference your existing scenery from the same custom folder you set up from before. On the compatibility front, it would be interesting to see about airports with a lot of terrain around, especially in areas where the DEM has been upgraded by MS. I am guessing we'll see some terrain elevation issues in those places.
A very important video!! Thanks for that. So far, I didn't want to switch yet, before the roush hour of 2024 purchases are over and the biggest issues have been solved. In any case, I want to avoid any mess by rushing everything into a new sim, while the older one would have worked OK. But the information in this video are a big step in trusting in the new sim.
When you have the airport on your drive and first load in it's precaching the shaders so it will go slow but once that's done you should be good to go!
Great update. If my Maccosim airport didn't work 2024 was definitely out. Will have to see how Brisbane, Coolangatta & Sydney work. Also FBW and Horizon aircraft. Will still give it a couple of months before I make the decision. Thanks once again for your videos.
Thanks so much for the video we all wanted to see the most. This is incredibly impressive and I won't waste any time in importing scenery. Of course there's still a ton of wiggle room for developers to optimise the scenery for MSFS 2024 and charge the "small fee" many are dying to implement. And that's fair enough if updated scenery genuinely does things that it can't in MSFS 2020. It's clearly a different story with tubeliners and there were some worrying noises from Robert Randazzo last night about the ease with which PMDG planes might be ported over. Still, this is a heck of start compared with all the hassles of converting FSX scenery to the last version. Thanks Gavin for answering everyone's #1 question.
With a maximum download speed of around 35mbps I'm thinking I will give this a miss until FTTP comes my way.Not programmed anytime soon so I will stick with 2020.I've got it working well. But thanks for all the videos.Always informative
For interest's sake: msfs 2020 ALSO STREAMS data over the cloud. So, if you have it "working well", then surely from a scenery perspective it should also work well The only difference that I notice is that when loading in, then it can take a bit longer, but once the initial load is in, the running the sim is easier on the connection We should shortly be able to download from the marketplace, so any aircraft can be stored locally then, That should sort out any additional concerns
We need a very nice grahpic settings guide for msfs2024 your sim looks very good and run so smooth! - thanks for this video hopefully we gonna get a good experince with 2024 soon!
Great video, this was definately one of my concerns. I've also found that the MSFS Map Enhancenment Mod has been updated and works well. It also improves load time. Additionally, the Lossless scaling App has been a huge help with fps.
Great work !! Thanks. Need to think about the 3rd party Installer Apps - they point to the old 2020 Community folders and sometimes their own install directories

PMDG 737 works - lighting is a bit bugged and no sound. The Horizon 787 lighting is a bit bugged and no sound you also need to copy the Asbo 787 from 2020
They "work" but they aren't fully compatible.. I tried flytampa yssy and grass textures were flat, there was none of that auto gen grass in the grassy area's.. the terminals and most of it looked okay but the terrain needs updating to work with the new engine.
How would priorities work with EHAM? I imagine the handcrafted from asobo still will be streamed and then fly Tampa would be placed on top of that. In 2020 we had to uninstall the asobo one before using the 3rd party. Now we can't do that anymore
With addon linker installation for MSFS2024 you should be able to use MSFS2020 community folder of course it could be dangerous later if for example the MSFS2020 gets MSFS2024 update. Then if you want to maintain both sims you will need 2 folders. But if there are lets say airports which are abandoned and wont recieve any update than you will be fine with one folder for both sims.
I've noticed exactly the same. I think all the scenery I purchased via the Marketplace in 2020 was installed automatically in the OneStore folder. If I copy one of those across to the 2024 Community folder it doesn't work. If I copy it to the 2024 OneStore it doesn't work either, and is deleted the next time I start the sim. All a bit baffling!
I have some scenery that required the default airport to be deleted/disabled (in content manager when using 2020) but 2024 has no setting to turn off the streaming of specific airports!
Couldn't really check if the sceneries I made still work fine in 2024. Only tested a few so far but they require little to no work at all which is nice. The only problem I encountered so far is, that scenery objects that were initially placed with 2020's scenery editor show up very late and only if close enough to the object. This isn't something I can change obviously. I just hope they'll fix that
Popped flytampas eham in my msfs2024 community folder today but it seems that this scenery is not fully compatible. Got some weird trees sticking out on the apron near the Echo pier. Also the grass around the taxi and runways needs some work

This leads to the double loading of airports etc. which can cause framerate and tile bleeding issues.

good question. Other devs do a free upgrade and although to charge a fee is not out of the ordinary, I would expect it from IniBuilds, since they are now a big dev with a level 1 status with MS. Onw can only wish.....

If there is another way, I'd like to know this also as I never was able to do this in MSFS2020. People kept telling me to use the arrow keys but they just looked around inside of the cockpit for me.

I moved my community folder from C to my flight sim drive. Its installed on c by default and you definitely do not want that! 😮 there is a very certain way of moving the folder though. If anyone needs help. Please let me know
@TheCoastalDiamond i have a 1tb C drive as well and my community folder, as well as ma y others is very, very large 100's of gb's of mods, i know i can only speak for myself but I do not want a single games files taking up a lot of space on my boot drive, i only install desktop files, software, photos, etc on my boot drive (c). Any game files are strictly for my dedicated drives. I have 5 other drives for games D, E, F, G, and I are all of my game drives. Drive letter (I) is specifically for my flight sims. :)
@ibraheemnabeel open the msfs 2024 conifig file with notepad. Scroll to the way bottom and change the community folder installation path to your desired drive. Make sure you copy and paste the path where the current path is. Make sure you create a msfs 2024 new file on the drive you want. Restart the game and the official and community file will automatically populate in the path you choose.
Yeah this does not work unfortunately. I’ve copied from 2020 One Store folder to the Community folder but doesn’t work. Strange how the files are in the onestore folder rather community
@@MegatronRacing237 the one store folder scereries are protected (as all are purchased via the marketplace). Only sceneries from your community 2020 will work in you 2024 community folder
You can also change the location of the Official and Community folders through a config file. I did that last night to make sure both sims were on the same drive.
Can't even get mine to work. Constantly comes up saying low bandwidth and if I click fly now I just get stuck on a screen that doesn't do anything. This launch is an absolute joke.
You can even change it in the My Library in the Sim but it is very buggy so far. Is it more stable via the Config File? So far I also dont see the stuff I put in My Library but it is there in the World Map. Could also be solved with the Marketplace Release in the next couple weeks
Yes the config file is the way I did it. Can then use the latest Addons Linker ( has a separate MSFS exe and config setup) to link to your 2020 community addons and save a lot of disc space. I also prefer keeping stuff off my C: drive as much as possible.
Instead of having texture based objects most stuff seems to be cloud based, i.e. streamed textures, which is the most angst people have at this stage, for some early adopters. Just went into an airliner cockpit in MSFS 2024, and noticed blurry textures in some places, then the scenery would "pop" into slight sharpness. ( and yes I have fast internet). Nice snappy UI, vegetation, flight planning etc but disappointing at this early stage, not to mention the character creation screen !!£££???XXXXX ugh!!!!. what ?
Good video as always. Not all airports are working. FlyTampa is fine of course. But I bought the CYUL airport from MKStudios and that s not working. Also the MaccoSim Cancun airport and the Vpilotdesign Cartagena airport don t work. I need to mention that these airports were bought on the Microsoft Marketplace and are not installed in the good old community folder. They re found in the Official folder and then in the Onestore folder and need to be installed in the 2024 Onestore folder. I find it very strange that these airports purchased in the Marketplace don t work in the new Sim. I hope this info is useful to someone. Thanks for posting.
Though what is annoying with FS2024. If you want to move community folder to another drive. One has to locate user config file, then add in the new community folder location. Fffn stupid you have to do this!
Hi there...and you whant to know why? Because you and thousands more were duped into thinking FS24 was all mew,but sorry, its the same engine! I knew it all along! But given were actualy living in 2024,thats how things and people are getting like!

Paris-CDG Asobo is really well done, at last! Stansted is very nice indeed!
im getting awful fps at those new handcrafted airports
I moved my community folder from C to my flight sim drive. Its installed on c by default and you definitely do not want that! 😮 there is a very certain way of moving the folder though. If anyone needs help. Please let me know
Yes, how can you do that?
You can in the marketplace Option
May I ask why you don’t want it on your c drive, btw this is someone with 1tb in there c drive so this may be different for you
@TheCoastalDiamond i have a 1tb C drive as well and my community folder, as well as ma y others is very, very large 100's of gb's of mods, i know i can only speak for myself but I do not want a single games files taking up a lot of space on my boot drive, i only install desktop files, software, photos, etc on my boot drive (c).
I've been having performance issues and low frames even though I'm on a 3080, 64Gbs of Ram and a Ryzen 9700X!
We Can create a symbolic link for to save Space in community folder and have this Space for somthing other
I want to know this also. We'd need something like Addon Linker for a start
th-cam.com/video/Ga4BqZKOGGs/w-d-xo.html
The latest version of addonlinker works fine with both old 2020 third party aircraft and my orbx scenery.
I was thinking this was causing performance issues. Does it help at all?
Can't even get mine to work. Constantly comes up saying low bandwidth and if I click fly now I just get stuck on a screen that doesn't do anything. This launch is an absolute joke.
What about us X-Boxers ?
Wasn’t especially Inibuild saying that you must pay for compatibility? Well, I guess they won’t be your partner for long😅
You can change the community folder path in the config file. Surprised nobody is making a video about this yet!
Not got myself into game yet never mind my addons 😂
How well do the jet bridges work?
Has anyone tried FSW Lj35a in msfs 2024?
Great video! I think as you said , sceneries are fine, but so far I've had no luck with FSLTL or AIG planes - looks asif they are completely ignored?
It seems FSLTL we’re not in the tech alpha so they are working in their base and injector now. Shouldn’t be too long I hope.
Still a blurry mess. The idea of streaming all textures from the cloud was not really thought thgrough
Nice snappy UI, vegetation, flight planning etc but disappointing at this early stage, not to mention the character creation screen !!£££???XXXXX ugh!!!!. what ?
What about planes? Like Pmdg ?
If you purchased them through Marketplace they should've shown up. I've had most of my planes show up but I'm still missing a few here/there though.
I'll save you 12min you copy and past it from the MSFS community folder
At least with xferred airports you don’t land on blurry airports 😂
Though what is annoying with FS2024. If you want to move community folder to another drive. One has to locate user config file, then add in the new community folder location. Fffn stupid you have to do this!
still cant fly in the new sim its awful
Hi there...and you whant to know why? Because you and thousands more were duped into thinking FS24 was all mew,but sorry, its the same engine! I knew it all along! But given were actualy living in 2024,thats how things and people are getting like!
