Biggest exposure is US $reserve held by other countries, where US $ is backed only by a “Promise to pay” What person can have a credit card with no limits . That’s the USA

Japan's National Debt is $9.2 Trillion.
That's like you saying you have $1 million in cash but owe the bank $9 million

Yeah but the Debt is autofinanced. Shareholders and Japanese companies support the this debt.
That's why economists think that it's not a big deal compared to the French one, which is lower but massively supported by outsiders.

This happened while the Japanese government is paying the US government over 4 billion dollars every year in Omoiyari Yosan.

Japan would be smart to start selling those treasuries. Now that the dollar rallying, they could sell them and inject it into their economy. They should go quietly though. Japan could pay a significant amount of its debt, plus the could also invest in its military and energy sector. Reducing its dependency on energy importa is key. Plus they could invest in more waste to energy plants and more. Another thing is that Japan could experiment with rural investing. By promoting rural life, it could experiment with its effects on its demographic crisis.

Japan had to devalue the Yen, short Term gain, now back to 157 to $.
Yes... Japan is the biggest lender to America holding 1.1Trillion in Bonds and had to Cash some in!
What Interest Rate did they buy them at? 2%? 2.5%?
When do they mature? Will they Roll them over when Bond Matures?
There's no point in owning a $1million House if you need $5000, you can't sell a few Bricks you have to Sell the House... !!

Yeah? So when the US or another major EU economy defaults, it basically means that hardworking japanese worked _for free._ 🤣
The chinese have already diversified their national savings through BRI loans to non-western countries; Japan and S.Korea have geopolitical considerations so lack that flexibility (unless they want to ditch the US superpower).

The chances or economic default is less likely, especially when it comes to USA
