If it had 3 bladed props and you were not told it was a model, you would almost believe it was the real thing. Nice to see Australian markings and no D-Day stripes as well. 👍🇦🇺
People think our planes get larger as we get older because we’re more experienced and can afford larger planes. The reality is they get larger so we can still see them.
Beautiful plane, and at last, a realistic way of flying it! Most of times, even beautiful models are way too fast to look like the real thing. This was a real pleasure to watch, many thanks.
Absolutely fantastic! This would really be a good platform for a camera in the nose, beautifully flown and presented. Many thanks for posting this one. Chris B.
A gorgeous model of a magnificent airplane. I first came to learn about the Mosquito when my dad took me to see the movie “633 Squadron.” I’ve been a fan ever since. Excellent work!
@@tbobborap1 thank YOU for your excellent camera work, you're a master when it comes to filming RC models and you must put a lot of time and money into travelling all over the country to capture your footage. It's much appreciated!
Before the rise of CGI in the film industry, this beauty would of been right at home on the silver screen as a movie star. Richard has scored with this model. Thank you for sharing Pete. Jim
Loved the bodge comments at the end, the real thing was the ultimate bodge given the scarcity of metals etc, British engineering at its absolute best. Beautiful model, perfect landing and a thrill to see her fly. Great job 😊
I think it may be 1/6. I knew someone who make a 1/6 scale Ju-87 and it was on the very similar scale as this. The Ju-87 went into incredible detail where the rivets were raise as too were the inspection hatches. The guy said he was to scared to fly it after all the time he had put into the aircraft. That was 40 years ago. Sorry, reminiscing just like watching the DH-98 since I swear I could hear Merlins at one stage of his flight.
The reason most modelers only use two bladed props on their scale models is because most models only have a single cylinder two stroke engine in it and these engines simply do not produce any where Near enough power to turn a scale 3 or 4 bladed prop fast enough to get the model off the ground. That is why they are turning 2 blade props to suit the power output of the single cylinder engine, Don’t forget the real aircraft had V12 or 18 cylinder radial aero engines in them and the power to weight ratio is a lot different on a model aero engine - the bigger 250cc & 450cc (5 and 7 cylinders) radial engines can turn bigger 3 or 4 bladed props on them but they still might not be full scale props, and these big 3 or 4 blade props cost into the hundreds of pounds and if the model noses over the props are destroyed, imagine doing that 2 or 3 times over a weekend ! most people simply cannot afford such luxuries and resort to cheaper smaller models with cheaper smaller engines and props, Hope this info helps !
As a spectator, these are great to watch and enjoy all that goes into the hobby. But when I was flying RC models I could never really enjoy it. I was always just trying not to eff it up. It was anything but relaxing or fun. Fantastic plane and great work! I enjoyed watching!
@@tbobborap1 I flew slope gliders which were straight winged and fast. I lived in Long Beach CA at the time and we flew where the cliffs were along the ocean. We were always at the mercy of the winds and thermals which were always changing. You would walk to the edge of the cliff, say a Hail Marry, throw it off and try to trim it out as quickly as possible. Maiden voyages were especially nerve wracking. Then, try and land it on a narrow strip of grass which ran parallel to busy Ocean Blvd. Yea, that was fun. I was ecstatic if I could end the day without incident!
Superb model of an absolutely superb aircraft! Wonderfully flown as well ! Can you tell me the nationality of the identification roundels and on the wrist of the tail please?

That RC DeHaviland Mosquito is awesome and by all appearances, seems to fly very well indeed. IRL it was a magnificent aircraft, being very light and very fast with a good payload capacity. An ideal photo reconnaissance plane! The RC model is right there in its airspace! Nice photo shoot at end of video!

Richard , congrats on a superb looking model. It looks like the crew are going to climb out after that landing it's so realistic. Nice take off and landing . Well done, Hawker Tempest 5 next ?
What a beautiful model!! The Mosquito was a legend back in the cold war. The model airplane itself has the speed just like it's legendary full sized original back in the day. Great showing here!! An absolutely incredible looking model.
To scale the model airframe is very light compared to the real thing. Larger heavier engines would be required to drive larger three blade scale props which could compromise the airframe and possibly cause failure.
I know nothing about RC aircraft so please excuse me if my question is stupid, why has the aircraft only got two bladed propeller assemblies?, does it have something to do with torque or speed?. It’s a pity that the engines couldn’t sound like the Merlin engines the full size aircraft had/have, the roar of the mighty Merlin is the best sound of any propeller driven aircraft ever produced. An absolutely beautiful version of the Mosquito, second only to the full size aircraft, and thanks for sharing this footage.
Because 3 bladed propellers - especially wooden ones in the size needed here - are impossible to obtain. In any case, a 2 bladed prop is more efficient anyway, and is much easier to balance prior to use.
The reason most modelers only use two bladed props on their scale models is because most models only have a single cylinder two stroke engine in it and these engines simply do not produce any where Near enough power to turn a scale 3 or 4 bladed prop fast enough to get the model off the ground. That has got to be one of the best RC. Mossi's out there. Absolutely stunning...and flown as if he was in the cockpit!!.😊😊😊👍❤
Couldn't agree more!
Yes it was marvellous and the speed also seemed very appropriate. Maybe a camera fitted in the cockpit next?

Beautiful model. Flown with style and a masterclass landing with a tail dragger. Well done Sir.

what a beauty and well done on the flying perfect , but must be nerve racking to fly such a machine
Well done

cheers jim, funny you should say that as she nearly was used in a British tv series but alas it never happened !
These large scale models would have to be much lower cost form film makers than CGI, and more realistic.
Beautiful sound in the air!
