He is a German who was discovered and personally trained by Hitler to become his right hand man. As a symbol of fear, he was given an identity based around a grotesque red skull mask and made the head of Nazi terrorist activities. In that role he took on a wide variety of missions, which involved carrying out assassinations and serving as the the embodiment of Nazi intimidation. As a result, he spurred the creation of his polar opposite, Captain America, a costumed superhero that stood for good and freedom. Clashing throughout the second war, he was eventually buried under rubble and exposed to experimental gas, which kept him alive for several decades in a state of suspended animation. Uncovered by the terrorist organization HYDRA, he quickly turned the attention of its resources toward the goal of world domination and the death of his enemy, who had survived the decades frozen in arctic ice. Probably my favorite aspect of the Red Skull is that he's so evil that even the other villains are disgusted by his actions.
+imthinkinwacky Even The Joker who is also one of comic's most evil and reviled villains is disgusted with Red Skull. The Joker kills people out of sadistic enjoyment with Red Skull too, but The Joker does not kill out of racial hatred.
Like The Joker
He and Joker deserve eachother.
@@joshuawaldorf9559 actually The Joker hates Nazis.
@@leonpetrichiutto1152 He does? I thought they'd be right up his ally since he's for everything evil.
Red Skull is the evil counterpart of Captain America in more ways than one: Both are orphans who had loving mothers and abusive fathers who died, but also grew up to be the paragons of their respective countries(Nazi Germany for Red Skull, America for Captain America) and being bestowed with superhuman abilities(Cosmic Cube and Mind-hijacking for Red Skull, Super Soldier Serum for Captain America) and both spent decades on suspended animation and awoke later:
-For Captain America, it was an oportunity to resume his heroics, for Red Skull, it was an opportunity to resume his plans for world domination.
-Captain America is respected in the hero community and everywhere, Red Skull is despised in the villain community and everywhere.
-Captain America genuinely cares about America, Red Skull only serves himself and is willing to ditch Germany the moment it suits him.
-Captain America loved Peggy, Red Skull was obsessed with and eventually murdered Esther.
-Captain America genuinely cares about others, Red Skull cares only about himself.
That is so deep
well said
That is so deep, we know difference between two characters with they personality. Like One good one bad, doing whole good vs evil thing.😦😑😐
That line, "The look in your eyes! You too hate all mankind!" is hysterical!
I don't know what hitler sounded like when speaking english, but that voice/accent is also fucking hilarious.
2:07 i just cant...this is so great
Ikr 😂😂
The quality just👌
*jumps*
lol
Lmao
So weird how, despite it being just a mask, his mouth was frequently drawn as if everything--including flesh and muscle--had melted off of his jawbone.
That was Jack Kirby's style for him, I guess. I love it, though.
@@hamzadawud
Kirby's and the other old artists' styles were hideous, especially in the Golden Age.
@@saagabragi6938 Hard disagree. Kirby's Golden Age art was pretty hideous, but you can't tell me it didn't become excellent later on.
" We each serve freedom in our own way and liberty is its own reward ". Very well said Captain America!
I love that quote. 😁👍🫡🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

It all started when a professor committed a great evil by telling young men to clean their room.
And get their act together so they could be useful and strong when tragedy strikes. To be heroic and truthful so they would deny the offer to be a concentration camp guard.
the faq?
ha. our history teacher never taught us about hitlers mad fighting skills.
There was a KGB agent donning the Red Skull mask. He was responsible for killing Peter Parker's parents.
So, if Hitler trained Red Skull personally to fight, Hitler also had top tier fighting abilities? Okay, he got an iron cross in WW1, but that's surprising.
Why red skull gotta sound like Boris from Bullwinkle?
Is it bad that my name is Johannes Schmidt and my hair is red?😑

He is definitely the kind of villain you love to hate!
I like the Cinematic Universe origins much better.
LOL - They aren't "propaganda vehicles" that's why! If this little compilation doesn't show you how comics were used as brainwashing/propaganda for American youths, then you aren't paying attention. Read up on the creators for these characters & why they did certain things in the "industry" back then... it'll blow your mind. You have to do a little digging, but it's all over the web in bits & pieces.
perfectlyparadoxical tell me why then
Yes
Huh? It's dumbed down and toothless. They nerfed his evil nature. Der Rotte Schadel is a Nаzi, plain and simple. He's not some opportunist who joined SS just to get his plan of world domination across without using Hitler's, xenophobic ideals. He subscribers to many of Hitler's ideals. Red Skull participated in all the atrocities of WW2 and he was never noble in his intentions. The movie made him into a PG-rated villain.
@@antona.1327
Ikr. He didn't even have a real backstory in the movie, either.
He has no powers but is still one of the best villains. That’s what I call the nature of marvel.
wow! so captain america survived till modern-day times thanks to being frozen, and his arch-enemy just so happened to survive too, thanks too being exposed to experimental gas that keeps its subjects stuck in suspended animation....wow. marvel goes deep into back-stories.
yeah and Marvels stories is based on a real events...
So does Bucky (Winter Soldier)
Allen Smith yup, so does he. Ha! that's swell. they might as well dip the whole party in arctic ice and experimental gas. we never can have too many "technically" time travelers.
He is one of my favorite Marvel villains along with Dr. Doom. Not because of his motives, but his design is so freaking awesome! I mean his head is a demonic looking skull! I even designed a super hero I created after him!
I like him because of his motives.
Cut one head off, and two more shall take its place. Hail Hydra!
Hail Hydra

😡
@TrooperIrons Thank you for the request. We'll put him into consideration.
Nothing beats the classics
@mrboobarella He was just absorbed by the Cosmic Cube, he was never declared 100% dead in the film, the odds are that somehow The Red Skull will emerge from the cube at some point into the 21st century.
Actual quote from Captain America #7 (The Red Skull is about to execute Cap with a rifle)
"Have you any last words, Captain America?"
Cap lashes out and slugs him with a Simon & Kirby punch
"YES! When are you going to stay dead?"
2:07 Red skull last days as a supper villian. Captain America doing water diving flips with ease closing in on him.
R.I.P Joe Simon co-creator of The Red Skull
"Even sitting at lunch, I was always thinking about heroes and villains, with all sorts of ideas swimming around in my head. Next thing I know, I had a hot fudge sundae sitting in front of me, with the vanilla ice cream, and the hot fudge is running down the side. It was intriguing. The hot fudge looked like limbs-legs, feet, and hands-and I'm thinking to myself. 'Gee this'd make an interesting villain,' I mused 'We'll call him Hot Fudge...
"YOU ARE FAILINGGG!!"
- Red Skull from First Avenger
@kitchsc We've added it to the list for consideration. Thanks for the comment!
In the old cartoons and comics, crooks would fire away all their ammunition at Superman in vain. When they ran out, they would desperately throw their guns at him.
Such a shame Hugo doesn't want to do the role again. Most casuals thought Cap died in Civil War when those who know the storyline know that his "death" was all a scheme by the Red Skull wanting to take over his body. It'd be a great way to bring the RS back. There is more than one Red Skull though if Marvel wanted to play with that..
If you mean his daughter as a Red Skull then no. Just no.
Profiles on Madame Hydra (aka Viper), Baron Zemo, Bucky and The Falcon would also be nice. Thanks for these videos. Good luck in the future.
@KevsHardLemonade Originally it was....yeah it was in the video. Originally, he DID have a mask, but now it really is a red, shriveled, head. So yeah, he now REALLY has a red skull.
@IncanTV Hi, we don't have one yet. But we will keep him in mind for the future. Thanks.
he's a master of weaponary, misses 3 shots point blank range.
i read that the first red skull was just a fake, when the actual red was the leader of hydra with abilities similar to caps
Of course he's going to be evil, but it could go beyond that.
It's always a nice twist when the villain believes what they are doing is right and calls themselves the 'good guy'. Makes the character a little more dynamic.
Sometimes he _is_ written like that.
It has kind of flip-flopped since the dark age of comics, where he seemed to just be straight-up clinically insane.
It’s something that they don’t talk about they got the idea for the character while eating a hot fudge sundae with a cherry on top
Love these origin vids
i thought red skull was the first super soldier
Only in the movie. The original Red Skull, in the comic book version, was an ordinary man. An extremely ruthless, cunning strategist, but not a super-soldier.
Yes an extremely botched one.
That's an MCU thing, they take some liberties w/ comic origins
That's an MCU thing, they take some liberties w/
Marvel should seriously bring back the Red Skull!! He's Captain America's arch nemesis, give Captain America an obstacle that's going to properly challenge his abilities to their fullest extent!!!! BRING BACK THE RED SKULL!!!!!!!! (please)
I'd rather he stay dead
Hanif Huzairi Don't know what makes you think he's dead for. The cube may have only teleported his ass for all we know!
Daniel Titley it's not that. Just that if he's indeed dead, I'd rather he stay that way
Hanif Huzairi Trouble is when you look at the immense unending range of stories it just seems pretty ridiculous to kill the Red Skull so early for good! He's Captain America's greatest villain so it doesn't make sense to kill the Skull for good because in essence it leaves Capt. America in the lurches.
3 years later and your words came true dude
@KevsHardLemonade Depends on which version you go with. In the begining it was just a mask. Then after Skull was thought dead he put his mind into a clone of Cap's body. In this body he tried to use the death dust on Cap to give Cap a Red Skull. It backfired and Skulls new cloned body now had a red skull. I think they've gone back to him wearing a mask tho now. His daughter, Sin, had an accident and now her face looks like a Red Skull. She thought her father dead so she took the name Red Skull.
Superhero Origins:Black Panther PLEEEEEEEASE!!!!!!
Daniel Scott you got your wish.
Under Timely Comics, the Red Skull was an American businessman and Nazi sympathizer who organized pro-Nazi sedition and treason in the US during the war. The Red Skull's appearance was based on a cherry topped milkshake, but the similarities between the character and Joseph Kennedy were pronounced enough Stan Lee wrote the "Hitler's bellhop" origin to avoid the troubles of calling the President's father a Nazi sympathizer and seditionist when Captain America was relaunched in the Avengers and needed his greatest foe to return. I always found it ironic that only America could produce a man capable of taking on Cap under Timely, and the Red Skull still has the number one slot locked. (Not that Cap has a decent rogue's gallery)
Maybe the most purely evil viillain in comics, A lot of villains think they are providing order or getting revenge or just making money. The Skull is evil for evil's sake.
He did attack the British. But the Nazis were unable to defeat the RAF in the battle for Britain and Hitler grew more and more concerned about the Communists in the East. Inevitably it would have resulted in one side attacking the other anyway. Hitler thought he could dispose of the Soviets and capture crucial resources for the war effort with a pre-emptive invasion. It failed. It should be noted that Hitler was charismatic but little else. His military success was the result of his generals.
Hail Lobster 🦞
You have saved me from my endless confusion! Thank you :D
I think the 1990's Red Skull and 2011 Capt. America movie were great. A natural origin.
Please the origins of Dr Arnim Zola and Baron Strocker
This guy is such a menace that he literally disgusted THE JOKER of all people!!!
aw I was hoping to see the Hugo Weaving from the recent Captain America movie
Turkeysamwich that movie was fucking shit
The propaganda is strong with this one.
What do you expect for a character created in 1941?
So? it was 1941 back then when this character was created, all you guys will do is bitch around if we actually published him inside a modern comic book.
0:10 "You underestimated my power" Where did we hear that before. Oh, yes, Darth Vader Revenge of the Sith.
really? they BOTH somehow survived for long enough to emerge at the exact goddamn time? AWESOME!
Just read red skull incarnate 5 part mini series. Great story and the full origin of red skull

Supervillain Origins: The Mandarin
Now that's the bad guy we love to hate!
Timmy Menard
Hugo was perfect for the movie
Good point. I don't think anybody evil would consider themself that way. They are just doing it without knowing it.
I don't understand why they portrayed Hitler as a man who sought to be a bad guy.
Hitler thought he was the good guy throughout the whole thing. He would never have referred to his army as 'evil'.
The Movie version is not the most common version of th Cjharacter and is pretty unique tothe movie. In all other incarnations, he is not a Supersoldier, his face doesnt actually look like a Red Skull, and he is not the leader of Hydra in WW2. he's a Loyal Nazi and Ghestapo Officer.
Make an superhero origins: The Question
Yeah, that's true. It was pretty much a 'this is the bad guy, let's all hate him and kick his ass' scenario. No time to examine their characters beyond that.
Lol I had an ICT exam and in one of the questions it say "Which year group is Johann Schmidt in?" Thought we wouldn't notice, but we did.
2:07 How can Captain America dodge three bullets but not avoid getting hit by the butt of a gun?
joker is immune to the dust of death, like the red skull is immune to joker gas.
Pretty much every dictator, terrorist, warmonger or whatever has believed what they were doing was the right thing. Theres no such thing as evil for the sake of evil.
What about the origins of Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker? (Leader of Hydra)
Oh man the 60s Red Skull isn't threatening at all ^^
the origins of Bucky, better known as Winter Soldier or Captain America II
Of course he should, but he should never refer to himself as the villain. That's not how he operated.
What can I say? In comic books the guns are a more effective weapon than their bullets. Even Superman, who will stand there and get shot, will dodge a thrown gun.
You'd think the Legion of Doom would catch onto this and stop buying lasers so they could just throw guns at everyone instead.
he was too busy dodging 3 bullets to not see the butt of a gun flying at him.
I’m not saying that hitler wasn’t evil but... he didn’t think he was evil. Him saying that red skull will be evil personified doesn’t really make sense.
Exactly, I'm sure the crew of the enola gay never considered their actions to be evil either. People rationalize what they're doing even when they're carrying out the mass extermination of innocent people, they almost never consider themselves evil.
his aim is horrible but when it comes to personal space he's all accurate.

When did he have hypnotic gaze??? Isn't he supposed to be powerless?
May I suggest you explore the origins of Baron Zemo, another of Captain America's enemies?

Hell no

When are you going to do a Hydra Origin story?
When i kick your ass.
Lol oh please, we have fought many times Frank. Quite honestly, I've lost count of how many times I stomped that ass so stop resisting it, I am better than you, which I must admit is satisfying because I don't like you.

it was a time when you could break Magnetos mind by pointing a wooden gun at him
Red Skull is disliked by other villains like Magneto Kingpin and Dr Doom.
2:07 AMERICA JUST DISAPPEARED XD OMG LOL the epicness of the 60's!
They should do one about captain Britain
Time to get a REDUX on this one.
Awesome villain
Damn I had those comicbooks and the 1966 cartoon . Red Skull is an awesome Super villisan!
The red skull is my favorite super villain ever second only to Dr. doom
When Captain America talks he looks like Sylvester Stallone.
1:25 Jesus Cap! Did you suffer a mild stroke or something?
true, how ridiculous to make him say that he "hates all of mankind" :D
It feels so good coming here after what happened.
I kidnapped and killed many of his advisers and became the second in command. I did admire his ideological vision, but I'm a subordinate to no one.
The red skull looks stupid at first but in the live action film he looks awesome
0:03
That expression. Stabby stabby.
The Skull is so evil that in a Captain America/Batman crossover comic, he was working with the Joker who when finding out he's an actual Nazi started fighting him and betraying him saying, "I may be an insane criminal lunatic but I'm an AMERICAN insane criminal lunatic!!! "
Red skull: the only supervillain who likes hitler
