- Bespin is a difficult map to gain ground on. The reliance on aerial superiority and anti aircraft efficiency can turn the tides of the match. Galactic Contention is finally back! It's a 33gb total conversion mod for the game Squad on the Steam workshop! It's a surreal Clone Wars experience that Star Wars fans dream of, and I highly recommend it!

The fact we had to get it as a mod for a completely unrelated game is annoying as all hell my man
Disney doesn't care about anything but money, and it counts on its name to draw it in. It's depressing they own so many IPs.
@@Aidan1024Fr battlefront 2 was fantastic. Just needed a little more and it woulda been perfect. Battlefront 3 was nearly complete too.

ever since this came back online, the servers have been POPPIN. never an empty server.
Depends on what time zone you’re in. There’s been quite a few times when both servers have had no players or less than 30
@@theagent315 there's multiple new communities running the mod now so there are more like 4-8 running aside from the main GC ones ran by the Devs
@@theagent315 Offical GC ones were empty couple of times just because two other community hosted servers had all the players

This is so sick. Love that they took the level design from the og battlefront and made it 10x better, cooler and visually upgraded. As soon as i buy squad im downloading this mod!!
Theres a TON of inspiration from the OG Battlefront games. Rhen Var and Mygeeto as well are very similar if not 1 for 1 in some areas. The attention to details and care that the devs take is outstanding
Requesting to make a short film out of these clips from the start, please they are so amazing.
I've got a few cinematic shorter videos. I'll be working on another quite soon. In terms of like an actual story using the mod as a Machinima -esque tool is a cool idea, but would require a LOT of planning/work. I love doing cinematic intros/videos though!

Nope! Mod was down for a few months because they were waiting on the Squad SDK to work with the mod and make sure everything was compatible!

@Bullwon, could you take a shot at making one of the intros with the Modern Warfare 2 (2009) 'Enemy of my enemy is my friend' soundtrack over it? Feel like it could go really well, just a suggestion 🤷♂
Is there any kind of tutorial/practice mode in the mod just to try out different vehicles or weapons? The game looks awesome but it also feels like there is a bit a skill curve to over come before anyone would be decent in multiplayer.
You can load the maps offline using the console. You'll be completely alone and able to explore the classes and maps and such.

May i ask? What makes this shovel? Is it some kind of action to pick up ammo storage box?
Shovels are used to build emplacements and to be able to use the ammo box you have to build it first after your squad lead places it down.

Just play the tutorial and training to understand the basics of the game
Playing some regular squad helps but it's not required
How do you get it to run so well? I've got an i7 rtx2060 with 16gb of ram, not exactly high end but no matter where I have my settings at, the game is stuck on roughly 35-40fps. Sometimes, it's a little worse.
I've got a 2060 as well, AMD Ryzen 5 5600x, and 32gb if ram. So we're not too far off from each other. I'd look up a video on YT for optimizing Squad graphics settings
How does yours run so smoothly you gotta help me out with optimizing fps I have a decent right i7, 3060 rtx, and 16 gb ram yet I have stutters every once in a while
Would highly recommend watching a few optimization videos specifically for Squad (Moidawg has an extensive one that should still be up-to-date). I cannot for the life of me remember the setting, but there is something you can turn off that greatly reduces frame drops during stuff like orbital strikes. I'm running a 2060 with a Ryzen 5 5600x, so you've got me beat there, but I do have 32gb of DDR4, so idk where that puts me comparatively. I will say too, if the majority of the server is at one point in the map, the server itself will suffer a bit from time to time and everyone experiences that huge desync spike.

make sure you're allowing modded servers in the filters

@@maegnificantJust search Galactic Contention in the main server browser with the correct filters and you should find 3-5 servers
