I always felt the historical version of the Renaissance dress is much more interesting and nicer than the fantasy version. I’m definitely want to watch it again on repeat!
@@AbiSueCostumes It looks comfortable! I'm planning on making a sort of history bounding version for everyday wear, which sadly won't have a train, but a light Summery one is in my immediate future! We're heading into the dreaded hot months here in Australia, yuck!
@@fatsparrowsewing it's def so comfortable! And omg, that sounds amazing! Much as I looove the train, it is a bit difficult to walk with and wear for every day life, shortening it would be so cute!
@@AbiSueCostumes I wear full length dresses constantly, but I also do a lot of walking normally and experience has taught me that floor length is fine, but an inch more and it's going to be a very vexing day!
@@AbiSueCostumes You are most welcome. I don’t know what your goals are but I would encourage you to pursue this as a profession and not just a hobby . My life is as far removed from this sort of thing as could be. I stumbled across your channel as I was looking for a how to for sewing dog collars. I was absolutely blown away by what you do. I live in Los Angeles and I’ve had occasion to visit some of the movie studios and I’ve seen up close some of the costume designers work and in my non professional non Hollywood affiliated opinion, your work is on par with some of them. Do yourself a favor and submit your work to Hollywood or perhaps Broadway. I would hate to see you miss your true calling. Good luck and all the best. BTW, if you make it to the Big Time drop me a hello. It would be a blast to think I may have played a micro part in inspiring you to go for it. Cheers!
@@Tubefish07 thank you! I have thought about it, I may do something like that in the future, but I do have a day job that funds my hobby, and I know that it's hard to make good money sewing, so we shall see!
It's the Giornea or overdress part, I've seen them with open sides, open front, laced up, there seems to be a lot of ways to make them. I made mine like this as I was also trying to replicate the look in the movie, but I've seen similar
I found the Etsy link to the one I actually bought, it's saying it's an olive green gold: www.etsy.com/listing/1159072639/olive-green-gold-damask-jacquard-brocade?click_key=56753c2b52fd69d2cd4b4a0aabef39a75f2de035%3A1159072639&click_sum=d8703ca7&ref=shop_home_active_15&frs=1&crt=1

Absolutely STUNNING! I didn't know how badly I needed Italian renaissance garments in my wardrobe!
Thank you! And omg, after making this one, I really really want more! It's so beautiful and flowy, and fairly comfortable even!

This is beautiful. I definitely need to start using more hem facings
Thank you! I love hem facings, I think I learned about them a few years ago, so useful!
@@AbiSueCostumes I'm just typically too lazy to use them lol. I need to change that.

What’s the open front skirt called? Is there a specific term for skirts with a two sides away from each other like curtains?

Did you buy the sage green or the olive green of that fabric? I’m trying to choose the right one!

Your iron doesn’t seem to be doing a lot of work
@elizabethwatson71 the outer fabric is synthetic, plus the linen, they both iron easily.
