Well on the bright side… Wilson is still young, maybe he can mature a bit this season! And he probably wasn’t in the plan for this game at all so it could definitely improve with him taking over the position in practice. Okay, I don't think this first week could have been any crazier. It STARTED with the Lions beating the Chiefs, then stuff like the Packers kicking butt, the Cowboys going out and being awesome, the Buccs beating the Vikings, and then there's THIS GAME, which has just been bonkers.

Tore my achilles 5 months ago still in PT for it. I will say, learning about this injury for months on end, it is not an injury you want later in your career, it is a long recovery, an even longer one the older you are and with more potential setbacks. Depending on where the tear is / if its a clean tear / if its a partial tear plays a huge factor, I had the optimal tear for a quick and easy surgery and recovery has still been hell. As a Bears fan I'm rooting he comes back from it

Great job capturing the roller coaster that was Jets fans yesterday Tom. I swear I went through every known emotion and a few beyond our understanding. Praying for a speedy recovery for Aaron. My first memory of Jets doom was Testaverde popping his Achilles in 1999. I was 6 then. 24 years later, my Jets fandom has come full circle.

@@Nightenstaff The first int was okay because it was essentially a punt anyway. The other two were just bad plays. That's on Allen, but the Jets D had all the receivers covered every frickin' play. It was uncanny how good their pass coverage was.
On the other hand, Buffalo turned the ball over four times but somehow managed to get to OT.
I don't know what to think anymore. This was just a game I want to forget.
There's speculation that Josh got concussed during one of the hits where a guy almost practically sat on Josh's head...or it's the Madden curse and we're all in for a hellish season. I find myself hoping for the former.

I’m praying Rodgers’ injury is just a bad calf sprain or patella injury and not what’s feared. My heart goes out to Jets fans, I never want to see something like this happen to any player, ever, but it’s absolutely brutal to lose a player like this in the first series of week 1. Still hoping it’s something he can return from, but Jets still have a really good team without him. Congrats on the win, it was hard fought and well deserved. Jets have one hell of a team. Josh made really dumb mistakes, but it was the Jets defense getting near constant pressure, disguising coverage, blocking throwing lanes and camping underneath unseen frustrating and forcing him into those mistakes. Good game Jets, you were better than us plain and simple…and I’m so incredibly sorry about Rodgers 🏈💚🤍✊❤️💙🏈
As a Bills fans, I would have to say that you nailed it from every team's angle.
Jets fan here. There's a lot to feel right now, but here are my 3 big takeaways for anybody who cares enough to read:
- That defense is AMAZING. 5 sacks, 3 picks, only 1 TD given up against freaking Josh Allen? I couldn't be happier with the D. Their resilience was the reason any of the rest of this was possible.
- My happiness with the D is equally matched by my anger with the O-Line. Five guys, whose primary job is to protect the future Hall of Fame QB that we made a big deal of picking up, and they blow it on their very first time out. I'm not gonna say the whole offense is screwed - Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook are doing some real work, and the receiving corps is head and shoulders above the crew we had last year - but I have no faith in this line long-term, and the fact that their failure has led to Zach Wilson being a thing again is something that we all know too well has the potential to ruin the season long-term.
- as a lifelong Iowa State Cyclones fan for college ball, seeing David Montgomery for Detroit, Brock Purdy for the 49ers and Breece Hall, Allen Lazard *and* Will McDonald tonight all get NFL W's this week has officially taken away the sting of losing that stupid-ass Cy-Hawk game again this year.
