If a game doesn't have a campaign, people want a campaign mode. If the game is a campaign game, people want one shot missions ... LOL! It's human nature I guess. I haven't been able to dive into this new iteration of Maximum Apocalypse yet, but I've always enjoyed the earlier versions. I like the puzzle of trying to figure out how to use your available cards to beat monsters, obtain your objectives, and keep from starving to death. (And of course I enjoy the apocalyptic theme.) I agree on the player count, and I usually play this one solo. Gawd, my interest in ANY game is never strong enough to play 10 games of the same thing in a row! I have too many games that I like to cycle through and there's always something new on the horizon, so this game has been perfect to pull out and play a few missions, especially since the rule set is not overly difficult to relearn. I'll have to see how Wasted Wild holds up, but I'm excited for new map tiles for sure. Thanks for the video!
I think that's a person by person thing...I rarely ever prefer a campaign....when a campaign is present the game has to be that much better because you're asking me to commit so much more. I'll watch nearly any movie...but TV shows I have to love.
i personally liked the base game better. the exposure deck is ok, the changes to day/night are ok, the tribes are just annoying imo. the monsters in the base game and Gothic Horrors were far more interesting imo. the "monsters" in this game are ok i guess. the tribe mechanic is just not that interesting making many of hte "monsters" just meh. the tiles are great, the characters are great. i found the missions decent but again preferred the original more EDIT: i wanted to add that this game isnt designed to just be a campaign. you can set it up however you want, set the goals you want, pick the monsters you want, pick the characters you want. this standalone expansion may be campaign focused, but that wasnt the game's intent. its designed to mix in different monsters into different missions, or even multiple types into different missions. unfortunately this expansion doesnt highlight that.
i got a surprise copy of this one. I will have to get it to the table. I was expecting the most recent Set a Watch...but seems there was a mistake. But now you got me wanting to try it out!
Thanks for reviewing this game!! I've thought about picking it up on sale many times but i got too many unplayed games already 😅 I didn't know it had a campaign so maybe I'll pick it up, especially since you said waste knights was similar in ways, and you know i love that game ;-) 😅
Now YOU'RE wearing one of those viking robes, is that yours or did you steal it from the other guy ? Also hope to see some Terrorscape coverage soon because i didnt see that one coming and im tempted but i already backed Stifling Dark and Among Cultists so i wonder how much it'll really differ
I sold the original, the set up was not worth the punishment. I did have fun until I learned that I needed fuel to use the fire arrows, the game winning resource, what a fun idea. Not.

Overall setup seems pretty quick...haven't gotten to the fire arrows yet :)
@@BoardGameCo it was finding specific items for the quest set up everytime that got annoying.
Did you really just say, "When they move, you move. Just like that"?
No no...you must have misheard.
Ty for this video!
