I don't know why everyone give others the awkward look when they tell them they wash their hair once or twice a week, it's actually good for the hair because washing it so many times strips the hair follicles, the root from its natural oils so it produces more oils than it should be and that's why it gets oilier and dirtier when you leave it two days unwashed...
Kad Fayrouz ever since I've bleached my high (full foils) I'm able to go like without showering for awhile.. I guess people just take it as we aren't clean but just cause we don't wash our hair doesn't mean we do clean our body
My hair takes about a month without a wash to get oily, and even then it's only at the roots. My hair is so dry naturally, even when it wasn't bleached. I wash it about once a fortnight and I have to rub oils into it all the time for it not to feel like straw.

No judgments on washing your hair once a week, I do the same, but my white and grey are natural, and if I wash it more than that, it dries out my hair and it looks brittle. I stopped using purple shampoo as it gives my grey hair a purple tone, and my silver hair white, so I just spritz my hair every morning with a mixture of conditioner and a little bit of purple conditioner in a bottle of water. Very interesting that your hair turns yellow from the sun, maybe because your hair is not natural? The sun makes EVERY silver hair I have super white in the summer. Outstanding video!!

I wash my platinum hair 3X weekly, its an oily mess, I use dry shampoo in between washings. I've been using a few drops of purple shampoo in my regular hydrating shampoo...hair color is PERFECT.
I bought my first organic shampoo which name is Argan Rain and loved it. The lather was good and my hair was really shiny. Maybe its the improvement in the formula since this article was written. Using natural shampoo is definitely worth the money and effort to find the really good ones. I bought from Argan Rain products’ website.

I much prefer the Blond Brilliance lathering toner. Its super underrated, and its super pigmented! Unlike other purple shampoos, it doesnt dry out my porous hair at all.

I recently went to the salon and got my hair bleached to a platinum blonde color but I would really like to get it to your hair color. i have a problem!! :'( I'm currently bleaching my hair to blonde.. and I did a test strand to see how well it bleaches and how much brassiness will occur..well, luckily it didn't turn gold, but it was a mixture of blonde and little of orange. To remove that brassiness, I made a DIY toner. I kinda used a semi permanent aubergine purple along with a conditioner. It became quite a dark color, and I kept it for about 5-10 mins on my hair. After washing my hair just turned the same shade as the color!! I don't know what to do now..please help me..:'(
Hi. I have been researching "purple shampoos" and found this super helpful. I stopped dying my hair almost eight months ago after YEARS of coloring. I get an allergic reaction to hair dye and took Benadryl before my appointments to help with the itching etc. So my question is do you think using a purple shampoo and conditioner with cause me the same problem? I know you can't know for sure how my scalp will react - but I have no idea if these products are similar to hair dye. Thanks for your help.
Steven Nguyen you might dilute the purple shampoo to a lavender because with orange the reg. purple shampoo is dark and I think leaves a darker less pleasant look. The only thing purple works with really is yellow - some of your orange hair also presumably has yellows and it's hard to explain but from my experience (oy vey a lot on this dark brunette I've been self experimenting toward a light ash brown forever) but from my experience mixoyt the purple shampoo in your palm and add about same amount or rather half the amount of white conditioner and rub together to get a lighter purple and you have to go pretty light imo. Again, hard to explain but the other option u ask about turns it dark in my experiences.

Dalia H you would use something red toned (opposite color on the color wheel) if you want to neutralize it. If you want it to stay green then get a shampoo that deposits green (yes they have hat too).
whippycake How long do you leave in your toner? I’m bleaching my hair to platinum and it’s almost there but has a slight yellow tone to it. I was thinking about using the purple shampoo to tone it out because the last time I used the T18 I left in 15 minutes and my hair was a dark grey when I washed it out and it took a week before it faded to a cool blonde. there are shampoos for your hair type~ usually if your hair tempt to oil up quickly shampoos with any kind of lime or lemon are good. usually they neutalize the oil. and dont worry if your hair feels super dry after using it ( while its still wet) it will soften up after drying. also i recommand to let your hair dry on air and without a blowdryer. last but not least, if you use a treatment, conditionern rinsen mask, after dry oil or anything like that never put it on your roots. if you want to use this kind of product only massage it in the ends of your hair. putting it on the roots makes your hair loose volume and get oily more quicker~^^ i hope i was in any way helpful~^^
I normally don't comment on TH-camrs pages but.... after the first two ( comments and responses) you made about purple shampoo is wrong... I myself know alot about hair and I'm actually in the process of lightening my hair with purple shampoo. Yes, false, you're not going to go lighter if you have brown hair (the first use.) YOU CAN go lighter every time you do wash your hair with or without highlights on brown hair. It may take up to a month but it does lighten hair. Another... Yes if you have any orange tones in your hair and you want to get extremely light, it will turn lighter and lighter the more you use it. Just going through the process myself and I haven't had any issues... Sorry, I was trying to see if there was any other purple shampoos I don't know about and I came across this video. You are a very smart and beautiful girl, I just needed to get this comment out there. 💜

nowonos It isn't pigmented enough for that. You should try the Viral Colorwash from the brand Celeb Luxury if you have purple hair. They make all different colors & they help keep your color fresh!
If you have purple hair, use Goodwill's 10v purple hair mousse. It's a semi-permanent colour in it so you can either style your hair with it, or you can let it sit in your hair while in the shower for 15 mins and that will help keep the colour. :)

I coloured me hair dark for a long time...I decided to bleach my hair but I'm 57 and my roots are grey. Now I'm loving my hair lighter but want to get rid of the brassiness...it's actually not that bad but I was wondering how it will affect my grey roots which are only at the front? Should I do a root touch up?
I just had my hair done and my ends lifted to mint green. After the stylist tried to tone it, the mid section (where the bleach lifted color properly) turned brassy and the ends because ashy with a green tint. What would purple shampoo do in this case?
Dalia H you would use something red toned (opposite color on the color wheel) if you want to neutralize it. If you want it to stay green then get a shampoo that deposits green (yes they have hat too).
Could you tell me what toner you use in your hair? I am trying to get your color but no one seems to ever get it that platinum.

whippycake How long do you leave in your toner? I’m bleaching my hair to platinum and it’s almost there but has a slight yellow tone to it. I was thinking about using the purple shampoo to tone it out because the last time I used the T18 I left in 15 minutes and my hair was a dark grey when I washed it out and it took a week before it faded to a cool blonde. Is there a time frame you’d recommend to avoid going straight grey?

My hair is baby soft and gets super oily by the end of the day. Are there any products that I can use to keep it looking fresh and give me some texture/body? Everything I have tried seems to cause buildup and grease even faster.
there are shampoos for your hair type~ usually if your hair tempt to oil up quickly shampoos with any kind of lime or lemon are good. usually they neutalize the oil. and dont worry if your hair feels super dry after using it ( while its still wet) it will soften up after drying. also i recommand to let your hair dry on air and without a blowdryer. last but not least, if you use a treatment, conditionern rinsen mask, after dry oil or anything like that never put it on your roots. if you want to use this kind of product only massage it in the ends of your hair. putting it on the roots makes your hair loose volume and get oily more quicker~^^ i hope i was in any way helpful~^^

I myself know alot about hair and I'm actually in the process of lightening my hair with purple shampoo. Yes, false, you're not going to go lighter if you have brown hair (the first use.) YOU CAN go lighter every time you do wash your hair with or without highlights on brown hair. It may take up to a month but it does lighten hair.
Another... Yes if you have any orange tones in your hair and you want to get extremely light, it will turn lighter and lighter the more you use it.

Tina_ BellA882015 I agree!! Especially if you put purple shampoo on dry hair and leave it on for a while it does change the color of hair to an extent but my hair is blonde with orange areas. Using it has made my hair less orange and more cool colored

No. purple shampoo adds a purple pigment. It absolutely does not lighten hair. But good luck lightening your brown hair to blonde with it. 😂

Cindi Sheehan I've had well water my whole life and it def leaves a residue over time. the purple shampoo takes out the orangey brass color for me. I have blonde highlights from a salon. :)

nowonos It isn't pigmented enough for that. You should try the Viral Colorwash from the brand Celeb Luxury if you have purple hair. They make all different colors & they help keep your color fresh!

If you have purple hair, use Goodwill's 10v purple hair mousse. It's a semi-permanent colour in it so you can either style your hair with it, or you can let it sit in your hair while in the shower for 15 mins and that will help keep the colour. :)
