I like the biolage purple shampoo. It rinses clean. It cleans up the buildup. So the hair is brightened up. I have been using it for the last couple years. Definitely a good shampoo.
I’ve used L’Oréal purple shampoo & conditioner. I’m using a brand by Avon. A nice surprise since I’ve sold Avon for years. I wash my hair once or twice a week and only use purple shamp/cond so will change it up since it is drying. My grays are around my crown, the rest is black. I highlighted a few strands around my crown to help blend the demarcation and I like it better. Can’t wait to highlight more! Mahalo for sharing, Katie! Another great video!🌺💕
Yikes, since I started growing my gray hair out, I have used ogx Argan oil of Morocco ,but today, for the first time used purple shampoo 😮. Right now, it looks beautiful. I only shampoo twice a week. Without this video, Heaven only knows the damage I could have done 😢. My last shampoo was working fine. I just thought it was time to use something for gray hair since it is nearly grown out. You chose a perfect time to drop this video. Thank you! (So far, my gray is not turning yellow)
Please be careful with Argan oil - if it's amber tinted, it can stain your gray hair. I've been using Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible oil instead - it's clear and I LOVE it! I'm sure your hair will be fine for now - just set the purple shampoo aside and only use it in the future if you need to (or want to - some women don't mind the yellow tones).
@@KatieGoesPlatinumI think get rid of the purple and check out some of your suggestions. Right now, I just love how my hair looks, and I want to use the right products at the get go 😊Thank you about the heads up on the argan oil.
Keeping your hair clean and clarified really helps (I clarify once a week); using a hard water filtration system helps, and also QuickSilverHair Clay Kit is AWESOME. It removes mineral and product buildup from your gray hair and makes it brighter. You can get it here: quicksilverhair.com/product/quicksilverhair-squalane-kit/
Katie isn’t it surprising how different you and all others growing out their silver, look sooooo different just by having your natural colour? I wouldn’t even recognise you as the same person. Like I said before I honestly think you look 20 years younger. It just shows to me that by dying our hair we got it so wrong because going silver everybody including yourself look so much brighter, fresher and younger because you have the natural colour hair that nature intended ❤
Thanks, Amanda! That's how I feel - I think everyone looks better with their naturally silver hair. A flatting hairstyle makes all the difference, too.
Bleach London Silver Shampoo is the strongest purple pigmented shampoo I've ever used. It's decently priced and doesn't further dry out my already-dry hair. However, Bleach London shampoo is so strong that the next time I use it I'm going to do 1/2 with mixed with another shampoo (a clear or white shampoo).
My favorite purple shampoo & conditioner is Loma. It brightens my hair without drying it out and smells good. Sometimes I use a kaolin clay hair mask which helps but it's messy and time consuming so I don't use it that often. I'm curious about metal detox shampoos as I have hard water. I've read about them but haven't tried any, wonder if anyone has had any experience with those.
@@mbeth3143 I’ve tried using the metal detox shampoo and mask recently. I’m still trying to figure out if I like them or not. They leave my hair a bit dry. For me, the best thing for hard water has been to use an aqua bliss, shower filter and to make sure to change the filters regularly.
I use the Clairol purple conditioner mask once a week or something nce every two weeks. I use heat and have fine hair. No yellow yet but my hair doesn't have that much grey yo really show up.
What styling tool do you recommend for someone that likes to curl their hair? Im nowhere near fully gray, only about 6 monhs in but don't want the yellowing from styling tools. I do have the dyson air wrap
Hi, Pam! Honestly, I prefer to use the Octocurl Heatless Curlers, but if you're in a hurry the Airwrap is good because you can use it on VERY low heat. However full disclosure: I can't get the curls from the Airwrap to last. I've tried everything. Not everybody has this issue, so it might just be me. I don't know of another very low-heat hot curling tool (yet!) so the Octocurl would be my recommendation for now. Here's my review:th-cam.com/video/WqvD8MJhHNE/w-d-xo.html
Can this help with the brassy blonde that is in the ends if my hair? I have recently committed to going gray and hate the old hairdye line. I have about 2 inches of gray now and I want to hang in there but the old dyed oart looks wierd. Help!!!!
It should help! Purple shampoo targets brassy yellow tones in blonde and gray hair :-). I find Bold Uniq to be especially strong but you might have to experiment to see which one is best for you. Just don't use it more than once a week.
What has your experience been wtih purple shampoo? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for letting us know! I'll check it out.
I don’t use a purple shampoo, but I use a purple mask once a week. 😊
Nice! Which one do you use?
I use the John Frieda violet crush for blondes. Purple toning mask 😊

Oh yes of course!! The long hair makes it all the more stunning. ❤

Some purple shampoos are harsh with sodium laurel sulfate. Gota read the ingredients.
Oh, for sure. As I say in the video they can be very drying. My favorites don't include sulfates. I avoid sulfates like the plague.
I love the silver oribe shampoo and got it at Nordstrom but can’t find it anymore. I don’t know why?.
It’s so strange how it keeps going out of stock! I bought mine on Amazon.
It’s available again on the Oribe website. I’ve just bought some for the first time and love it - way better than any purple shampoo I’ve ever used.
