If we had to choose a top ten list of Tuba Skinny numbers, this song clearly belongs. My favorite moment is 1:50. Erika and Craig have been singing over just the rhythm players. At 1:50 the frontline players jump in and propel the song to a thrilling conclusion. I wish we had Bob Throne to lay out all the lyrics. The recurring theme has Erika longing to go back home where she knows she'll get better care. Wonderful stuff!
A slightly different version of this song from the royal street one years ago, still good though, I mean tuba skinny can do no wrong can they? And Erica, wonderful!
That's funny, when I first heard Greg, I thought "what is that?" But have since come to like his sound, because it is authentic...not trained. It fits the music well
In my country there are two types of professors: ordinary and extraordinary professor. Apparently, Erica sings ordinarily. But her singing leaves extraordinary impressions. Therefore, as a professor, I give her the title of both ordinary and extraordinary professor of jazz singing. What do you say?
What do you call people from Belgium - Belsh? Whatever - I call them lucky - Tuba Skinny just doesn't appear on anybody's stage - nope! Ya gotta be lucky. Wish I'd been Belsh (OK Belgian) when TS came to Dendermonde town. I love all the players but Erika Lewis has something unique going on - it's like the ghost spirit of a long dead African American woman from the South takes over. When I close my eyes and listen to EL I swear she is channeling a departed soul... Tuba Skinny rules and may they do so for a long long time to come.
I'm no musician, but I find it strange how the cornet player, Shaye? seems to have to direct the payers and singers by pointing her cornet at them. They all seem very proficient, do they really need telling when it's their turn to play or sing? I've never seen this happen in any other band.
Just One more masterpiece! Thank`s Guys!
Erika Lewis has the perfect voice for this kind of music
I never listened to this kind of music until Now! I like it !

She really does it right.
@Gennady Golovkin Memphis Minnie recorded it back in the days, so no.
Their music is beautiful; it has a style that we had in our church music.
I love em singing this in the street,I love seeing these magnificent exquisite musicians performing in the street
This is great! I can’t get this song out of my head and am needing to know the lyrics to the chorus!

She does it but she may not HAVE to do it.
Or she may be arranging on the fly.
It def happened with many of Frank Zappa's bands.
