Oh man I got chills and goosebumps from this! Robinson Crusoe was one of my favourite books I read as a child and loved every bit of it to this very day. Thank you so much!!
I don't know who that photograph at 1:43 was supposed to be but it sure as hell wasn't Alexander Selkirk who died about 120 years before the invention of photography.
I read a book called "Foe" in my literature class and the story is about a woman who arrives to Robinson Crusoe's island. In that book Crusoe is really old and Friday has no tongue. They all come back to England but Crusoe is not that lucky and died in the ship
LOL. Since these were requested by geared with students in mind, we just wanted to add that in the event some didn't know what a cannibal was, otherwise, they'd have to pause, search for the definition and then return to the video... that said, you don't need to be a student to enjoy these videos.
absolutely, i watch every single video you do, its really entertaining, i watch videos for things i have no idea about, for instance origins of clayface, and i dont even like comics
yes, they still exist in some parts of central and south america, and some parts of africa but their numbers are so small you could count them in the thousands
Selkirk died in 1721 First surviving photograph taken in the year 1826. As to whos picture that is? A search shows several photographs associated with his name along with a statue.
aculy the writer spent a couple of years on a deserted island to reserch the book. he aculy asked to b on the island and was alone. it almost drove him nuts that is why friday was born and there was no canables.
Though it wasnt a cast away story, I do feel like Peter Pan and Count of Monti Cristo reminded me of the sort of setting of involving isolation, pirates, islands and adventure =)
Seriously! It's a Sci-fi flick from the 60's starring Paul Manatee and Victor Lundin (the original Klingon from Trek TOS) It's about an astronaut stranded on Mars who meets an alien who he names Friday. Plus a cameo from Adam (Batman) West. Check it out.
In the book there is a sequence where he thanks God for all the provisions that he has found and all the luck that accompanied him. I thought it was part of a relgiious work.
why haven't you talked about the long long original title? "The Life and Strange Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, Of York, Mariner: Who lived Eight and Twenty Years, all alone in an un-inhabited Island on the Coast of America, near the Mouth of the Great River of Oroonoque; Having been cast on Shore by Shipwreck, wherein all the Men perished but himself. With An Account how he was at last as strangely deliver'd by Pyrates."
