    This is incredibly helpful. I have a 6 hour layover in May and want to leave the airport for a few hours to see Frankfurt briefly. So, knowing what I'm doing and so I don't take too long and miss my connecting flight is critical. Hopefully I can figure out how to get back to the airport from Romberber! Ha!

      Glad this was helpful. To return, just reverse what you did to get there. Frankfurt is pretty easy to find your way around and people are helpful.

    Enjoyed the video, will need to find and watch the Gateway Garden one. Worked at V Corps in Frankfurt as a civilian with MWR, base closed in 94, worked till 98 with a German company before going to the US. Been back in 2016, and visited Munich in 2018. Will be in FTK in July 2024 and staying at a Hotel in Gateway Gardens.

    Thanks! When I was in Frankfurt from 74 to 79 there were only four U-bahn lines numbered A1 through A4. One of them went to the airport but I can't remember which one. But the fare was not ₡5.80! Fares were at most a couple of DM. And I don't recall any of the station announcements in English. The last year there the S-bahn trains started running. I will say that the trains in Frankfurt are nicer than the trains in Russia!
    There used to be some of the garden plots near Platenstrasse and the map shows they are still there near the Europaturm. I wandered through that area once or twice.

    • @frankfurtonfoottours2361
      @frankfurtonfoottours2361  ปีที่แล้ว

      Those gardens are still there. There a few 1000 of them in different areas of Frankfurt as well as in any other city in Germany. They are called Schreber Garten.
      They just started constructing the underground in the 1960s, but I don't know what the 1st ones were called.

    Thanks for the great video! Can you get off some of the stops to explore that part and then get back on to continue going to the city? Also I am a disabled senior; are the cheaper fares?

    • @frankfurtonfoottours2361
      @frankfurtonfoottours2361  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are no senior fares unless you live here. I do not know about disabled discounts.
      With a day ticket you can get on and off as much as you like. They are usually the best deal.

    hi thanks for the video, i have question here and hope that you can help me to clarify that.
    If i were to travel to Mainz Hbf, does it mean i have to choose for "Wiesbaden/Mainz" option at the RMV ticket machine which shown in your video?

    • @frankfurtonfoottours2361
      @frankfurtonfoottours2361  ปีที่แล้ว

      you have to pick Mainz as your end destination. It is in a different state.

    Great video! 2 questions: 1, where to vlidate the ticket, is it required? 2, is the day ticket that i should buy if i want to come back to the airport the same day? Thanks.

    • @frankfurtonfoottours2361
      @frankfurtonfoottours2361  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You do not have to validate tickets in Frankfurt. They are time stamped or you have a day ticket. Yes, get a day ticket instead of 2 single one-way tickets. Thanks for watching.

    What is the senior citzen age for Travel in Trains from Frankfurt airport to downtown? And a day pass is valid from what time begging and end?

    • @frankfurtonfoottours2361
      @frankfurtonfoottours2361  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are no senior citizen discount tickets. A day pass is valid from the time you buy until close of business that day. The trains stop running around 01:00 or so.

    Jo -- Do the trains run 24 hours a day to and from the airport?

    • @frankfurtonfoottours2361
      @frankfurtonfoottours2361  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they do run all night to the airport, but you might have to go to the main station to get the train because the Hauptwache, Konstablerwache and Taunusanlage might have the entrances closed.

      Looks at your train ticket. Does it say the train leaves from the airport or from the Frankfurt main station? Look up trains on the Deutsche Bahn website.

    Hello.
    Great info.
    If you don't mind, I have some questions.
    The single day tickets are valid for trains and buses?
    I can use the day ticket for multiple destinations, have I understood this correctly?

    • @frankfurtonfoottours2361
      @frankfurtonfoottours2361  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the day tickets are valid on all forms of transportation as are the single tickets. This is includes S-bahns, U-bahns, Regional trains, buses and trams. Not the ICE or IC trains
      It depends on what kind of day ticket you have purchased. If you buy a day ticket at the airport, that includes going to Frankfurt, you cannot use it to go to Mainz, or Bad Homburg, etc. A Hessen ticket you can, as long as you stay in Hessen.
      Hope this helps.
